League of Legends (LoL) Question: Is Urgot a solid duo bot choice for solo queue?

Is Urgot a solid duo bot choice for solo queue?

I can't quite figure out the role of Urgot (when he's not played as a solo laner, that is). He's picked in duo bot lanes (but maybe only with a champion like Taric) to counter out the enemy's ADC, but doesn't really seem to be an ADC himself, as he often builds Tear, early Warmogs etc.

Can he be reliably played in solo queue in a duo lane instead of a more standard AD Carry, or will the team be too lacking in AD damage lategame? I recall the recent match where xPeke went Caitlyn midlane to offset the fact that Urgot was their botlaner. Is such a move necessary for botlane Urgot to be a truly solid choice?

Also, a secondary question: Is Urgot fun to play? I'm looking for more unconventional AD Carries to pick up and he seems interesting.

Urgot is great duo bot. I will also go as far as to say, if you fully understand and know how to use Urgot, he is amazing Middle and Top lanes by himself. You have to go Flash + Teleport so that you can get an early Tear of the Goddess but once you start charging that tear up, you don't even have to worry about completing it until after you have Bloodthirster and Black Cleaver finished. Furthermore, Teleport is pretty nice on Urgot late game for split pushing and getting to fights quicker while still keeping up on his farm.

I was playing Urgot just yesterday; the top score is from me playing Urgot solo top in a Ranked game (Urgot use to by my main):

I didn't know "smart brusiers" could close a 900 range gap before meeting the resistance known as you team?

Unless you're snowballing you'll get instagibbed by any smart bruiser.

I respectfully disagree. I don't know anyone who would build him AS/Crit, and he has 1000 Range on his Q and 900 on his E. Noxian Corrosive Charge + Black Cleaver + Weapon Expertise = 1000 Range true damage

He has a too short range.

You could build him AS and crit, it looks hilarious, but you can't build to damagy, since a few steps too close, make you an easy kill.

Can you elaborate? The way that I play and build Urgot functions quite well as an ADC.

He is a good bot, but he doesn't function that well as ADC, which I believe his main problem was ;P

Oh, and the bottom score is from Duo bottom vs Ezreal + Janna I believe it was

Urgot damage scale worse than other ADC's, for the sole reason that Urgot works more with Q damage while other ADC's work with auto attacks, which is more consistent and will do more damage in a small amount of time.

However, Urgot is able to focus ADC's in fights easier, because of his range.
This makes him kinda "assassin" like, since he can pick out targets better than other ADC's.

I am not an Urgot master, though I find him very fun to play, but I'd say you can play him better bruiser/assassin like than ADC like.

    To answer the secondary question:
Urgot is very fun to play :D
Your poke annoys the enemy so much, that you love it! :D

His kit is very different and very interesting to use.

The entire point of playing him is to get a carry the enemy team is zealously guarding; usually Vayne.
