League of Legends (LoL) Question: Nidalee; AD or AP?

    Nidalee; AD or AP?

I'm looking into learning Nidalee for top lane. I'm curious as to which is better for top, AD or AP, and also what builds and masteries are optimal. Some of the most successful Nidalee's I've seen actually run somewhat Bulky AP with Frozen Fist and abyssal Scpter. Is this ideal?

AP Nidalee has a hard time surviving in top lane so you're pretty much forced to go AD if you really want top. Stuff like Sunfire, Visage, Gauntlet and botrk are great items.

i forgot to mention his runes. He actually goes hybrid pen reds EVEN when he goes AD Nidalee, armor yellows, MR Blues, and Movement speed quints

I used flat AD marks and quints with the masteries GMD suggested and went 11/7. i guess I did ok for first try with the build I listed above.

17/13 works well. Hybrid pen isn't advised if you go AD Nidalee because the tradeoff isn't worth it. If you go AP Nidalee, hybrid pen are good. If you go hybrid nidalee, eh, just quit the game.

ah yeah hybrid pen would be just as good too I imagine. Not sure about the other items, when I played top lane Nid it was back in League of Atmogs/Triforce, I'd still say Triforce is really good on her, not sure about Atmogs anymore, maybe SV or something...I also think Manamune is considered core? Not sure lol.

Looking around Solomid it seems most top lane nidalee's run somthing like Iceborn Gauntlet, Blade of the ruined king], [[Last Whisper, Sunfire Aegis etc and use hybrid pen, or both penetration masteries.

in top lane I'd say 90% of the time AD > AP, however AP Nidalee probably has some matchups that she does better in than AD, and if you can get in one of those matchups, it might be beneficial to go AP as it scales much harder than AD.

I know you didn't ask about runes, but I'll mention that imo AD marks (and maybe Quints) are mandatory for both AP and AD Nid in top as she has no other form of good harass early game.

Voyboy runs 17-13-0 on AD Nidalee Toplane. Some strong items are Botrk, Gauntlet, Visage, Randuins, and Last Whisper

    I'm not a nida player but I'd go 9/21/0, 14/16/0 or perhaps 9/12/9

What about masteries, kinda hybrid 21/9 or normal ad or bruiser masteries?

    AD top.

AP top is ridiculously hard to pull off due to her abysmal early game phase.

Core items involve Gauntlet and visage. Sheen gives Nidalee insane dueling potential.
Against AP you can also go chalice --> visage.

    Source: I main Nidalee.

You split push and clean fights up :D
If you're forced to team fight buff your adc and poke around with autos if an opportunity arises go for a quick Pounce> Takedown and proceed to jump on their carries while they wont be able to do anything to you 8D

Ok, maybe you can help with this then, both time's I played her this way, I won lane hard (Against Riven and a Talon.) but ultimately lost the game. I feel like Im not sure of what to do after laning phase, or help my team. o.O

CDR Bruiser Nid seems to have the strongest laning phase and is probably the most viable build for top lane. AP nid should be fine in certain matchups, but you'll rarely do better than go even in lane.

My friend in plat 1 (RadCad) mains AP Nidalee top and he rushes Rod of Ages pretty much every game. Probably not what you're looking for but I thought it was rather interesting.

AD nida is just good at the start becuase of the poking, she got a nerf with the cat form no longer gaining armor and magic resist, so I would recommend that you go AP. :)

i have seen really few ad nidalees even in top, and seems cool, btw i personally hate nidalee ap. 860 with 1 spear at lvl 8 with only 1 ap item while support is kinda .. yeah, ****.
