Why build Blade of the Ruined King on Lucian?

So, with the changes to Bloodthirster, I have been seeing people who play Lucian build BotRK. This simply does not make sense to me, because no changes were made to Lucian, just the items. Lucian is a caster adc, isnt he? And BotRK is geared towards auto attack champions, which Lucian is not. So, even with the changes, isnt Bloodthirster and Tri Force still a more liable pick on him?

Also, why has Bloodthirster been disowned by the community? I honestly feel like its being highly underetimated right now, but everyone seems to disagree with me.

1. BT sucks; costs 300 gold more, gives 20 less ad when stacked and 5% less lifesteal.

2. Blade always was a decent item for Lucian going into late game. It'd make him unkillable due to the active. It didn't get majorly changed and the change to %damage is overall a slight buff

3. Blade into youmuu's is a very powerful combo with the latter getting buffed.

Also, there was an argument when came out about which of the two suited him best, not only because BotRK made him harder to reach but also how it gave his ult some extra hits and how it proc'ed with his passive. The conclusion was that the raw stats on BT made it a really strong lane rush in comparison. With the BT nerf, the alternative lifesteal item was a nobrainer

The new has added % hp damage, therefore allowing you to have more burst with your full combo. It also allows you to duel power spiking champs such as and .

That being said, the old would be considered better than the new because the Bonus AD would average into higher damage than the attack speed, active, and % hp damage bonus of the botrk.

Also, and combo is the current power spike meta of patch 4.1x. Therefore, most champions that rush this and can utilize these items effectively have the advantage as of now.

Easy, regardless of whether or not BoRK got nerfed to almost sh*t this patch, it still does the percentage health dmg.. And since you get a "second shot" with every ability use, it will do the %Health dmg. on both shots. And your Q uses on hit effects, so if you hit your Q and your double shot, thats aprx. 18% of their health, and thats if it doesnt crit, and w/o all the other items. So regardless of whether or not it got nerfed its still extremely viable on Lucian, and other 3 shot adc's like Vayne, or even Ashe if you roll like that!!

People have been building on for two main reasons.

His ultimate ability The Culling gets more shots over the duration when Lucian builds more attack speed. With 40% attack speed from Blade of the Ruined King, that quite a few more shots.
Additionally, as a few people have said, he procs the passive on the item faster than most other marksmen champions. Add that to the fact that 4.11 (or was it 4.10?) changed the passive component from 5% hp as bonus damage to 8%, and you have someone who can chunk you for upwards of 20% of your max hp in one auto. And that's not even factoring in critical hit change or a Trinity Force proc.

80 attack damage and 20% lifesteal? If you have dancer etc already then definitely go BT. if you want the lifesteal from botrk just get a scepter.

As far as I am concerned botrk is a build killer. Ruins an adcs dmg output unless she has some %health dmg like vayne. The dmg from botrk is %current life. Anything you can output with botrk you can output better with another item and considering the burst on luc, he should be getting something heavier on AD anyway. I have seen people go botrk ghostblade for a total of 55 ad...

ONE BF sword comes really close to that.

Just repeating what I've heard so far because BT and Youmuu's seem to suit well to their (combat) stats

@ Emoriam: even draven/graves will want to start IE/bork first. Only in very late game you can consider getting BT

It's not just 'kinda sucky', it's really bad compared to what it was - less stats and higher price. In 90% of your games you should go for BORK - even in late game-, unless the attack speed goes to waste (tristana sometimes hits the 2.5 as cap) or if you don't need the passive at all.
