I just don't entirely feel like this is the environment for a subscription of this caliber. I don't think that the baseline perks you have out are worth it, and I honestly can't think of any that would fit in the realm of this website that would. I'm not sure if any one else has made any actual suggestions, so enlighten me if someone has.

Basically, this is a website grounded on the content of the people, which is free, and provided by them, hosted by you. Anything else to the site honestly seems superficial and unneeded? I might be the only one who holds this belief.

And what's to stop, lets say, a friend just giving me 50 commendations on my guide for the sake of it even if he has no real credibility on the website? What would that do to my guide?

It would get a pretty badge. That's it.

They can't hide them, they can basically do the MOBAFire version of this:

To whichever comments on their guide they choose. People can click the plus to read the comment. I don't personally see much point in it and doubt I'll be using the feature myself, but it's there for those that want it.

But let's get this straight, commendations have their own place in the mobafire "helpful points" hierarchy, right?

They're the lowest and most insignificant when it comes to guide and post quality, right?

They are different from every other points yes. I'm not sure how I would rate any of the "helpful points" in a hierarchy because they all have different purposes. I would liken it most to +rep, but it's attached to a specific piece of content and you give them some cool perks.

Well I would say that them costing money would stop a friend from just giving you 50 commendations. :) But if that were to happen...

Your guide would get a swagger flame background on both the view and guide listings, the highest level Commendation badge on your guide and profile, and you would get 50 months of free prime.

Your guide would not move around in the ranks or be otherwise affected. Commendations are meant to be a way to say "thank you" and give someone some fun perks, not to directly alter the rank / score of a guide.

If an author can just cherry pick a constructive comment and hide it away, then it really stagnates improvement by a lot and might leave other, less experienced players with their eyes closed. (Unless I got this wrong and hiding comments just means hiding it for the author himself, in which case it's alright.)

This was a concern we had, and we will see what happens. I can't say right now whether or not that will be how people use it since I haven't seen people using it yet, but it's an idea we had and we wanted to try it.

Our main thought about this was, if someone is buying Prime or getting a Commendation they probably care about MOBAFire. They probably aren't the kind of person to hide constructive criticism on their guide, but if there is a comment they truly can't stand seeing on their guide that option is open to them.

We wanted our guide authors to have a good experience on Prime, and when we were brainstorming what fun perks there could be for guide authors this is one of the things we came up with. We will definitely be watching to see how this feature is being used and how it is affecting the community. We don't want to take away from the MOBAFire that everybody loves, and we will adjust this feature if necessary.

Also, I'd like an elaborate response if possible. A lot of your guises responses recently have been mostly repeating what was already said, and it doesn't clear up quite a few concerns that have been stated. :<

I'm sorry our responses haven't answered your questions well enough. We definitely don't mind elaborating if you have any follow up questions, and thank you for your comment. :)

I see your point. I think you actually have it right with the "this is a website grounded on the content of the people, which is free, and provided by them, hosted by you."

That's why we picked the features we did to start with. We didn't want to change the core experience that is MOBAFire. We would rather the features be "superficial and unneeded" than be needed, because that would ruin the MOBAFire experience. To us, Prime is a way for members who want to support MOBAFire without ads, and to get some fun perks in return. That doesn't mean that we won't add more features to Prime, we just wanted to 1. see what people actually wanted for Prime features 2. be careful to choose features that don't change the core experience for non-Prime members.

Thanks again for your feedback and I hope I made myself a little more clear. :)

Also thanks Vapora for helping clear that up, he's got it right.

What about an ad-free version? I think Nexusmods.com at least had that at one point. They basically calculated how much an average user earns to them in a month and then you can pay that amount of money to not see any advertisements. I could buy that (I am currently not using µBlock on Mobafire.com, Dotafire.com, Smitefire.com etc.) and get the best out of prime (the other features aren't really that useful to me).

To me, commending something is about making a statement. When I commend something, I want to really show the world that this particular content is so important and helpful, that I'm willing to take some of the money from my job to prove it. That said, I think that the commendations/$ ratio is too restrictive and I won't buy commendations until the numbers become a little more in check

I think that the community and the devs/powers that be have different things in mind for mf prime.
The devs see mf prime as a way to support them. The users think that mf prime should be a feature, and that is they wanted to directly support the devs, they would rather just use a PayPal donation link
If I helped you out, be sure to throw me a +Rep!

Prime is meant to be our ad-free option, we just took the chance to make some features we've been wanting to do but were previously unable due to server limitations. We will do our best to keep it fun and exciting, but the main focus is an ad-free option for those who want to support MOBAFire without dealing with ads.

(Thank you for keeping your µBlock off though, we really appreciate that)

Thanks for the feedback utopus. :) I think you definitely hit the nail on the head with the intention.

I can't help but think that the reception to MFNP would have been warmer with the regular userbase if more ideas had been bounced around via beta testers/private forums first, and not just kept to admin. Keen to see how you guys progress from here, though :)

That's alright then. As long as commendations are simply cosmetic flare and only cosmetic in nature, I think it's fine and dandy.

Well, I don't actually agree to letting it in the members' hands. If there is an "extension" window that will allow others to see the comment if clicked, I think it would be a good step. That would stop ugly or inappropriate comments from being visible, but can also remove any doubt if there is suspicion of hiding criticism, or otherwise abusing the feature.

It's not just me though. It genuinely looks like you're a robot being paid to promote this system on the forum which just makes it seem like that much more of a cash cow than anything.

Thanks for this reply though, actually showed me that you guys are still there and care for the community and I even detected some passive aggression :^ )

tl;dr mowie we miss the REAL you ;_;
pls more personal-ish replies like this, I mean, in the end, this is not supposed to be just a business :<
