Hello,
first of all great guide! I want to ask you what do you think about a on-hit build. Maybe something like trinity, BORK or wit's end.
Have a nice day!

You can win with on-hit but I don't think it's optimal. Bruiser works better vs tanky teams. If you go for mostly attack speed items, it's hard to get enough attacks off to make them worth it 'cause you'll be quite squishy.

Updated the build with the meta Conqueror setup (Tempo is still good as well). Also split the build into 2 since the bruiser build is currently dominant and it was a lot easier to organize the two builds separately. Assassin build is still good but you need to use it into the right comps (lots of squishies, low peel). Into ranged champions that aren't super free kills, Stridebreaker works fine.

Hello im very new in league of legends, im level 46 and bronze 3, but i liked this guide for nocturne and i have a question: Wouldn't it be better to use Eclipse before Daktar to one-shot with the assassin build?

PsiGuard (1495) | February 7, 2021 8:17pm
Duskblade of Draktharr gives you ability haste, which lets you cast your ultimate more often, and invisibility after you 1-shot someone. It also deals basically the same damage as Eclipse until later in the game, when Eclipse's mythic passive is stacked up. I'd recommend Duskblade as it'll give you more opportunities to get kills and you'll be safe from being focused after killing someone, because you'll be invisible long enough to reposition.

Hi, I gave your build a try and it worked out great. Just need a bit more practice with it. In terms of the Bruiser build when would be the best scenario to use it?

PsiGuard (1495) | January 26, 2021 11:04am
Generally when the enemy team isn't squishy / vulnerable enough to use a full damage build. If you're against a lot of tanks/bruisers, peeling supports like Lulu, and the enemy team is going to be grouped a lot of the time, it can be basically impossible to reliably 1-shot someone.

The Bruiser build still lets you kill people, but you'll do it over time and you'll be a lot tankier for team fights. It's not as strong at carrying, since getting picks solo is more difficult (the enemy has more time to escape or get help), but it guarantees you won't be useless in team fights.

For example, I used the bruiser build against a team with Renekton, Rek'Sai, Sylas, Miss Fortune and Maokai. I could probably kill any of those champions with the Assassin build if they were alone, but when grouped, my only viable target would be MF (and she built Zhonya's Hourglass that game). Instead, I was able to fight anyone on their team, even in team fights, since I couldn't be bursted through Sterak's Gage and had enough DPS from Lethal Tempo to kill their tankier guys.

realised in your warding section you still have the text as "warding totem" instead of Stealth Ward. Idk why riot decided to change the name, having only the icon changed was good enough but meh.

Wow, I didn't even realize they changed the name. Thanks for the tip, I'll update the guide now.

what do you think of the of preseason 11 on pbe for nocturne?
1
PsiGuard (1495) | October 16, 2020 8:10pm
Lethality items look pretty good but it's hard to say for certain what options there'll be. Nocturne has historically had pretty radically different builds based on which items are strong. I'm hoping we'll end up with more build flexibility than there was for Noc this past season, but there's a lot of uncertainty with PBE testing so I'll reserve judgment for when the preseason patch actually goes live.

Updated items and added a second skill order (and optional Zombie Ward to runes). I fleshed out the assassin builds a bit more to better demonstrate how to build situationally. The relevant chapters of the guide also reflect these changes. Hope you guys find it helpful! :)

So Nocturne was my first love when I started league, I have an alt dedicated to him and have played him a fair bit, but I always want to get better. He's my go to jungler and recently my build has usually consisted of getting the jungle blade (Stalker or skirmisher depending on the enemy jungler) then straight into tiamat. Sometime after that I'll work towards my berserker's greaves then duskblade. After that I either finish hydra or get ghostblade or finish warrior enchant, the order usually varies. Then I finish off with deadman's. I know some of these items may not be optimal but that's why I want your input. Should I swap out ghostblade for PD? Deadman's for GA? I like the HP and little bit of initial extra damage from deadman's, the movement doesn't hurt either, but I do understand the merits of GA. The ghostblade is mostly just a habit from back when it had attack speed and there are likely better options, I just appreciate the lethality. As for the hydra, I know he has good clear with his passive but I really like the clear speed with the tiamat/hydra along with the lifesteal, AOE and a bit of extra burst into his initial rotation. The AOE is incredible when diving an adc with their support and it makes him SLIGHTLY more viable in teamfights. I know "if it works then do it" but I'd definitely like your own input.

That's a lot of items to go over so I'll try to keep it brief.

  • Stalker's Blade / Skirmisher's Sabre: Pick this based on the enemy team and not just the enemy jungler. Stalker's is good against teams with lots of ranged/squishy enemies that will try to kite you, but I usually get Skirmisher's in most games to make sure I can 1v1 as many people as possible.

  • Berserker's Greaves: These aren't bad, they just make you really squishy in team fights. If you can avoid team fights, you can get away with them.

  • Duskblade of Draktharr: IS REAL GOOD

  • Tiamat / Ravenous Hydra: These items aren't bad, I just find that they aren't worth delaying bigger power spikes like Duskblade. Your entire build gets delayed by 1325g when you buy Tiamat, so I generally don't recommend it on jg (it's good for lane though). Ravenous is a really expensive item but it's not bad once you finish it. I tend to get more value out of PD/Wits because they're cheap and make you really hard to kill, but if you're rich then Ravenous is a pretty decent item for the reasons you mentioned.

  • Youmuu's Ghostblade: I think this item is worse than other options on Nocturne currently. If I want another quick lethality item before building for team fights, I get Umbral Glaive instead since it's cheaper and I feel like the passive is more valuable than Ghostblade's active. I only build Ghostblade on champions that actually need the movement speed to reach their targets.

  • Dead Man's Plate: This item is fine, just know that you're losing a lot of damage by building it. I usually favor Phantom Dancer instead since the shield grants you up to 600 extra health and it's a damage item. Dead Man's is a decent option if you can get a lot of value out of the armor, and if your team has enough damage that you can fulfill a more frontliner-type role in fights. Randuin's Omen isn't bad either, since you can easily get in range to use the active and it cuts a lot of damage from crits.

Thanks for your comment. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

I'll try to break the habit for a few games and see how they go for me. I'm just so used to throwing the hydra active into my burst rotation that it will be weird to see it do nothing lol. But you never know until you try it.
