will you be changing the runes slightly since eyeball collection is no longer in the game? because i think the only viable rune for jungle is grisly mementos

Hey, sorry for the late reply but university and these kind of things.

Mementos surely can be good for support as it is proven but in jungle I feel like it's bad. No Eyeball collection means less AD means less Damage. I've been using Phase Rush and Spear of Shojin and it works great, didn't try any other runes yet.

very nice guide, has helped me a lot with matchups, but you need to update the matchup for briar, its still using talon's matchup difficulty and image, just thought i'd let you know

Thank you and you're right, it's common with the guides that have a lot of code, you can't really see the mistakes that easily haha, thank you for pointing that out, it is now fixed.

is it worth right now going full tank from the start with dead mns or force of nututre and no damage items

also is it best to always go tank with phase rush since i want to preotect my allies

sundred rn is just too good on poppy and i am play poppy top lot nd just started to lern her jungle so i m having some proplems with items in the jungle role

Kocykek (9) | December 25, 2024 12:53pm
You can always go full tank and still deal decent damage. As you won't go for damage items Phase Rush should be the best, of course you can use every other rune but they won't scale at all with your bonus AD, etc. Maybe Conqueror works here as well but if it's about protecting allies then Phase Rush for mobility. Sundered Sky is great and you can always build it if you're new to jungle on Poppy. You can easily build the same items you build on top and adapt to it.

Kocykek (9) | April 17, 2024 4:12am
Hello, I can coach but right now I'm still adapting to this season and that results in me limit resting. So I wouldn't coach right now and perhaps do it someday.

It's a good guide for those who are interested in JG Poppy especially for starters. As those players progress with the build will eventually make a build of their own to keep climbing. Most importantly the dedication of this user to go this far on Poppy let alone jungle role is impression and inspiring.

A major salute for this user especially from this one trick pony Poppy main. I may not be the greatest one trick Poppy and don't see that title, but I do enjoy experimenting on the champion.

Hey, here's the review you requested. I'll get my criticism out of the way first and leave you with my overall impression at the end.

Cheatsheet
  1. Quite frankly, your cheatsheet is a little overwhelming. There are a boatload of options, but relatively minimal explanation or organization within the cheatsheet that could help new Poppy players actually figure out what to runes and items to take. This is a difficult line to walk, as you obviously don't want to cut out strong items or builds just to simplify the guide, but I think you need to be a bit more ruthless with which options you present to your reader. If you really do think people should be using 7 different rune pages, use the titles and Notes for each page to quickly explain why/when to take the page. You already have an overwhelming amount of information to absorb, so it's important that you categorize and briefly explain things as much as you can.

  2. Rune pages 3 and 8 are practically the same thing. I think you could pick the generalized best page between those 2 and cut out the complexity. Just because other options might be occasionally viable doesn't mean that people need to be shown them in the cheatsheet.

  3. Is Predator really necessary when you have Turbo Chemtank as an option for your first item? Obviously Predator comes online earlier, but I think that in general, either Predator Poppy is optimal (for gank pressure) or it isn't, and she'd rather have a combat keystone.

  4. The Notes you have for most of your items just say that there's more info in the guide. This is pretty self-explanatory. Keep in mind that to see the Notes, your readers have to hover the text for each set of items. This gets pretty annoying when you don't offer any insight in the actual notes. I'd rather you remove the notes entirely if you can't think of a quick way to explain each set of items, though informative notes would be preferable.

  5. It's a little strange to me that you have Abyssal Mask in your tank build, but Spirit Visage in your damage build. Visage synergizes with Sterak's Gage and Gargoyle Stoneplate's shields, while Abyssal Mask would grant you a lot more damage for your damage build, since it's a multiplier. Personally I think Visage is the superior item, but if there's ever a case for Abyssal, surely it's in the build that's designed to burst people.

  6. I don't really buy the support build. Maybe something like Knight's Vow or Frozen Heart could work situationally, but full support items like Ardent Censer and Redemption just don't make sense on a farming role. I'd rather see a few of these options merged into the tank build. Guardian is also a strange choice on a role where you will either be 1v1ing or 2v1ing people most of the time.

  7. I don't think you can get away with not maxing Q first, especially in jungle. You need Q to DPS the camps. Maxing E first just makes you weaker overall in both farming power and fighting. 0.4 seconds of stun time is not worth delaying your main ability. The main reason to max E second over W is the damage, not the stun duration.

  8. I don't think you should have E at level 1 anywhere in your cheatsheet. Even though it might occasionally pay off for lvl 1 picks, it's not something you want readers to default to if they get confused. Better to put that situation in the Notes or in the guide itself, and keep the cheatsheet simple and reliable.

Presentation
You have kind of a love-it-or-hate-it visual style for this guide. Your graphics, colors and layouts are big, flashy and eye-catching, but in some cases it's a little overpowering. I think this guide could benefit from a little homogenization in order to establish a more consistent visual theme, especially with the colors. Right now, you basically use every color in some part of the guide, and that leaves you without any sort of cohesive theme to tie different sections together.

That said, I think the visuals do more good than harm. There's room for improvement, but they're already solid enough to be readable and you do a good job of adding in different types of visuals (from divided text blocks, to edited images, to gameplay gifs) to keep things from getting too samey. Maybe go through the guide with a friend and see if you can relax some of the sections with overpowering colors for now, and you can think about theming in the future if you want to take your visuals to the next level.

As a quick side-note, the gank-path images look amazing. I don't know how you made those shiny yellow arrows but they look fantastic.

Content
  1. I'm not sure if English is your first language, but there are a number of grammar mistakes in the guide. While it's nothing serious (the guide is still understandable and it's not a big deal), you could definitely use a proofread. If you're not comfortable finding and fixing these mistakes on your own, maybe ask a friend to help clean up some of the minor errors you have sprinkled throughout the guide.

  2. Not sure why you have Ironspike Whip in your items section when neither Goredrinker nor Stridebreaker appear in your cheatsheet at all. You also have Tiamat here, but don't seem to recommend it. I'd recommend removing both of those items so you can focus on the good options.

  3. You have build options with and without Muramana, but I'm not seeing any place you directly discuss when to buy or not buy the item. Maybe I missed it somehow, but if you're going to say the item is optional, you should explain how to decide whether to buy it or not.

  4. Some of your item descriptions are a little lacking. For example, Black Cleaver and Serylda's Grudge have the same pick condition (against enemy tanks). How are your readers supposed to know which one to get?

  5. I'm pretty sure Oracle Lens will net you more kills than Farsight Alteration if you're building lethality. You're not Nocturne, you can't instantly pick someone off just because you see them on the map. Vision control will increase the chances of enemies facechecking you.

  6. As a general rule, any description of an item or rune that says "great if you want X" is generally not very informative (I'm looking at Ionian Boots of Lucidity). Your readers can read the item tooltip to know what it does. What they need is to know what the best options are, and how to choose between them.

  7. The jungle routes you have seem okay, but you're missing a pretty staple fast-gank route. Blue -> Gromp -> Red or Red -> Blue -> Gromp are very common routes for any champion that can gank at level 3. If you neglect this option, you give the enemy jungler a chance to gank earlier than you and punish your laners for free. You don't need to fast-gank every game, but recognizing situations where your laners are vulnerable to early ganks, or situations where enemies can be punished by ganking at 3 will net you more early advantages than just 5-camp clearing.

  8. Kinda strange to recommend Abyssal Mask against Nocturne. He does almost no magic damage and he can even block your CC.

  9. Rek'Sai also deals no magic damage, so Abyssal Mask doesn't make much sense for her either. She's female btw. :)

  10. Your Shyvana matchup seems to neglect the existence of builds that aren't AP. Magic resist items are still good, but you'll need to adapt a bit if she has Blade of the Ruined King with a high DPS build or if she's tanky with Iceborn Gauntlet or something.

  11. It's a bit weird that you suggest Frozen Heart against Vi, but not Nocturne. They're pretty similar champions, but Vi deals more ability damage while Nocturne deals more damage through autoattacks. It depends a bit on what these champions build, of course.

Conclusion & Overall Impression
I think you have a lot of good information here, but it's hard to access. Between visuals that are sometimes overpowering, and just too many options with too few explanations, the good content you have is a bit buried. I think your guide would benefit a lot from some softening of the brighter colors, reorganization of the cheatsheet, and a stronger focus on the best options for Poppy, with clear explanations of how to decide between different builds.

In some ways, it can be better to have a bit too much and cut back, rather than not having enough content. You definitely have enough stuff here for a strong guide, but you need to let it shine. I think if your sharpen your build and presentation a bit, you'll set yourself apart from other Poppy guide authors even more.

Good luck with your guide!

Hi PsiGuard. Thanks for your review. I read it and you showed me mistakes in my builds and your right about them. It's misunderstood which makes it hard to read and because of it I will gladly update the guide and even look for the same kind of problems in newer guides. As you could already tell I'm not a native English speaker but I will fix grammar mistakes that appear in my guide as you saw. Also it was my "first real" guide that I really worked on.

Overall, thank you for amazing review. It will definitely improve my skill in creating guides.
