Question: why does everyone say, that Shen's taunt is 2,5s when it's 2s?
Sorry don't agree, he has NO tanking abilities.
Yes he can trap people (given they don't have flash,teleport or blink) and yes he has a stun, but besides that WHO in his right mind would attack an Jarvan built as a pure tank, his damage stinks as a pure tank and he has no aggro skills so basicly all he can do is hope for people to be stupid enough to attack him first.
The same reason i don't think of mundo or mordekaiser as a pure tank is because all of these guys are bruisers, they can take a few hits and deal nice damage but have no aggro or tank skills, just some skills to stay alive well as an off-tank.
Unlike amumu jarvan does not deal tons of damage, so basicly he is amumu only without the damage output and without his ultimate actually stunning anyone (meaning they can still get away).
Emm, skillful Jarvan can pulloff mass knockup, bar enemy olaf from comming to their carrys (and that's a lot), mass slow + somewhat of shield, buff for AD carries.
I'd say he's at most and least Tier 2 tank, not as good, but not terrible and way better IMO than most tanky dps are as tanks.

Not to mention he damage is much better than people think with his passive and attack speed. Throw in items like Sunfire Cape and Atmas Impaler make Jarvan's DPS very very nice.
As far as "making" people attack you only 3 heroes can do that period. However CC like knockups, entrapping, stuns etc can save your team repeatedly and consistently.
But I think I will hush now. I prefer people to be surprised by tank Jarvan...

Having spent probably 2/3 of my games as tanks I would say the best three are Rammus, Ammumu and Shen. In that order. However they are all amazing tanks and each has advantages and disadvantages over the others.
Some people have said that Shen's ult gives him the best map control. However I disagree. Rammus's powerball is spammable and allows him greater mobility to be in most fights (especially if jungling), whereas shen can only go in when his ult is off CD. Ammumu has the greatest damage output but once his ult is popped it can be very difficult to be selective with his bandage toss in a large fight.
I'm just in love with rammus for his ability to chase down/ escape EVERYONE, including Nid! Plus early/mid game ganking if jungling he beats any champion IMO. If you have a good rammus early/mid game whipping about the map initiating ganks you're more than likely to win the game.

I'm working on a guide to point out that there is much more to tanking than 'just' taking damage or 'just' having awesome CC. The main idea is 'make your highest DPS a tank' since everybody is targeting that person anyway... or 'make your tank high DPS.'

Jarvan actually does a surprising amount of damage with just one offensive item (maybe a Last Whisper) and the rest tanky. The fact is, he doesn't need hard CC when he has a trapping ultimate in addition to that knockup and an AoE slow. While his abilities may seem like he's more tailored to be tanky DPS, he's actually a very powerful tank.

For me it is Jarvan. I am amazed more people don't play him as a pure tank. Most Jarvans focus on DPS and I think that is a mistake. His tanking abilities are so great for the team.
Shen is pretty awesome as well though. Probably the best pure tank for any team. I love grouping with one.
