A year seems too much... with patches coming out in a weekly basis...

It also sucks to look at several builds for the same champ and have them be identical...

Sometimes even small differences can have a lot of impact...

I think that would be best left to a moderation task of sorts.

we vets/mods/admins have been talking about implementing a system where if your build hasn't been updated in 2 patches (which is a month) then you'd get an email and an archived build. or something like that.

Tbh that's not taking enough aggressive action. I agree that many guides are not up to par, and the only way I could think of a good solution is perhaps if we allow for a "Suggested archival" or "suggested deletion" flag that members can throw up (usually veterans or higher), and if there are a certain amount of agreeing opinions, it would then be auto-archived.

This is more of an issue for Support, though.

But shouldn't that be downvotes? I feel we'd have to allow the community another way to be vocal about their opinions of x bad guide that somehow reached the top.

and also @

So, you are saying, if two guys happen to have the same build and similar item descriptions but are in no way affiliated, you are just going to delete their guides, or keep one and then one person just gets unlucky and gets their's deleted?

Well, why not add a feature that compares the guide to the latest patch, in order to be listed in the list, you must update it, or something like that, otherwise it appears in an outdated secondary list? That would solve the problem of outdated guides imo.

But what about guides that don't get affected by the patch, they would be considered outdated?

and if you are to do a whole check thing for a guide against the current patch, that would be WAY too much work.

Because at a certain point, the top rated guide (assuming the champion is not new) will begin to accumulate a lot of upvotes, even if it does not deserve it. This is the "sheep vote syndrome" that Jun was talking about earlier.
