Dude, you carried as Master Yi. Your essentially advocating that we should all play as Master Yi.
What if we play as a champion who can't carry the team? Like Soraka.
You DON'T.
When low ELO you play characters that YOU know how to play, don't play to the team comp cause that's RELYING on your team, which is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE decision.

So basically Elo isn't the problem; Riot refusing to make better ways for noobs to learn this game is the problem. Well, I knew that the whole time.
Regardless of any of this stuff; the fact remains that there isn't much of a point to an Elo rating for a single player (other than **** measuring). I do however like Elo for rating a team as a whole. Pretty much only useful for tournament seeding purposes but whatever.
PS- Booshido, why do you take this debate so personally? I think you really oughta tone it down a few notches. I'm originally from Boston and we're known for our cursing, so either you need an attitude adjustment or you're from Boston too. :D

What kind of tool is there for people to learn more than the hundreds of games needed to be able to play ranked in the first place? If people aren't constantly improving themselves it's not on Riot to hold their hand and tell them what they're doing wrong.

what have I said personal?
and I like the fact that you have been proven wrong and now try change the subject lol
why is there no point in solo elo, it shows that you are good enough to win more then you lose with public teams?
The discussion has become very heated but seems to have simmered down and was much more logical over the last two pages. B-Wong made a very good point about playing characters that you can carry with instead of, say, a support.
We've had these arguments dozens of times before, and clearly both sides are unwilling to change their point of view. There are thousands of ELO Hell threads on the forums and there are thousands of people who have said things that are exactly the same as what has happened in this thread.
I won't close it, because although people have gotten a little heated, there's been a lot of good discussion coming out of this thread and it hasn't been too bad.
I WILL say this though: If you can't write what you want to say in a normal, civilized manner, I WILL be forced to close this thread.

SO (if I'm reading this right) you don't think anyone should play any kind of supporting champion at low levels? A whole team of nothing but carries is gonna get its face smashed in. They'll all fight over kills, since they all need them to do well. There's a reason tanks and "support" (I use this phrase loosely) champions exist. Soraka can carry a team, what do you call keeping your allies alive for 2 to 3 times as long as they should have? if that's not carrying the team on your back then I'd like to know what is. People wonder why I would mid with Soraka, seeing as she "doesn't need the XP". If the healer gets fed enough to rush a deathcap, how easy is it for the whole team to push and win in one fell-swoop?

Not that easy when you have a team full of idiots.
