Hey guys, just unwisely bought TF with IP without giving him a try first, I was so excited about the teleport ganks, but I've been playing with him, and I'm just so squishy and have been failing hard. After playing with champs like Olaf and Singed, being squishy is just NOT something i'm used to. So I wanna improve. And I know that if I want to I'm going to have to learn both AD and AP TF. But my question is, how do I learn to play him first? IS one generally considered "better" than the other. I also noticed the "hybrid" build on here with rageblade, triforce, and hextech gunblade. I do love the idea of being able to push towers, teleport away, and push another lane. I guess AD/AS is best for that? I think a main problem is that I just need to get used to paying attention to what i'm doing with pick a card (use blue cards more often since im mana starved alot), and pay attention to when stacked deck is up. Any tips on how to play TF would be great!

THANKS!

I prefer a Hybrid TF. Best of both worlds. However, AD and AP are both good as well.

However if you like AD/AS TF than that's good too. I'd try this:

Any combination of Teleport, Ghost, and Flash.
21/0/9 Masteries
-9 Greater Mark of Desolation
-9 Greater Seal of Armor or Greater Seal of Vitality (for survivability)
-9 Greater Glyph of Magic Resist or Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist (for surivability)
-3 Greater Quintessence of Desolation (for offense) or Greater Quintessence of Health (for defense)

THE boots are Berserker's Greaves. Too awesome.

Then you can rush Infinity Edge if you're midding, or something else maybe if you are not. (TF is a better duo than solo in my opinion)

Then I think good situational items for offense would be-
Bloodthirster
Sword of the Divine
Black Cleaver
Madred's Bloodrazor
Phantom Dancer
Trinity Force
Last Whisper

For defense-
Guardian Angel
Banshee's Veil
Shurelya's Battlesong
Aegis of the Legion
Hexdrinker
Quicksilver Sash

Skill order should be W first, then E, basically straight up R > W/E > Q. Put off Wild Cards as long as possible, as it is pretty useless to an AD TF.

Anyway, I'm no TF expert, but hopefully this helps. :)

We srsly need search option...

AP - Burst
AD - DPS / Backdoor

You can also build on AS/on_hit_effects.

As i prefer physical damage over magical and TF is great at ccing i prefer going ad.
More of a AS/Crit/AD :P

It all depends which route you plan on going. If you go the "assassin" route it's AP for the burst. Otherwise, he's just another AD carry and a fairly bad one IMO at that.
I actually had an argument in one game where the entire other team said AP was better while our Garen said to do AD. It really depends on your play-style and what your team needs.

My personal prefferance is AD just since thats what i've always done and since AP is a little harder to get down I never bothered to learn.

Anyway back on topic, it's all personal prefference if you are looking to do teleport ganks I suggest AD since typicaly AD levels up Pick A Card faster than AP and with the longer stun the chance of the gank succeding is higher. Also if you compare AP TF's burst to all other burst AP champs unless you pre-load your stacked deck you only have 2 big burst hits, where champs like Annie or LeBlanc have 3.

Thats my 2 cents

Always AP. Twisted Fate is so mediocre as AD. He doesn't deal enough damage and his Q is useless as an AD champion. If you need an AD carry, don't pick TF.

On the other hand if you build him AP, he has insane farming with Q early game and just amazing farming with Q+W later on. As a burst assassin he's excellent both in lane (gold card+wild cards=half health gone) and his ganks are extremely deadly because of his burst. He also has an excellent poke for late game.

Hybrid has bad sustained damage and bad burst. On top of that it's very expensive. Personally I'd rather roll AP. I've seen AD, and it's agreeable to a certain degree (hard CC Stun on a low CD? pretty cool) but as Jebus said as of right now other Ranged carry choices are just much more efficient.

I only got about 20 games with TF. 10 as Ap and 10 as Ad. Ap has a nice burst but I feel that ad/as TF really rips the hp out of the enemie more over time. I feel that with as/as ppl tend to be more frightened by me since of my speed.

Though haven't tried a hybrid yet and.. as I said I've only got 20 games with him.

I feel like AP Teemo in team fights as AP TF. You throw your abilities then you're waiting for CD. Not as bad as AP Teemo but definitely to an extent (PAC's CD is pretty darn short). I'd agree with whoever said if you're going ganker then do AP and if you're gonna try and really carry go AD/AS. Personally I run the on-hit build that I think is recommended in one of the two top guides on solomid.net. You get a couple (or a few) doran's blades then you rush your Sword of the Divine and then I personally go for hextech or maybe malady. I've found the malady good if the other team has someone rushing some high MR items.

It does largely end up being based on how you feel most comfortable. I personally only roll AD carries, but that's just me. :)
