He plays with guys like CLG and he says they liked his build too.
He doesn't use wriggles, and it ends up saving him a lot of gold. 1k+ on Wriggles saved is a big investment into something else.

Try AD quints. A lot of ppl I know are using them on him and say that they're great.
They're also using 3AD marks(with the 6ArP marks) for even more jungle speed, but AD marks are kinda meh imo..
For items I'd skip FoN and go for an early warmog. He tends to get quite squishy in mid game. While his damage will be kinda meh with only warmog he'll get both more damage and durability when he finishes Atmog.

Lee Sin should be played as a jungler imo, but ill modify the builds for lane.

Tanky: Boots, Doran's Blade, Wriggles, Brut, Frozen Mallet, Atmas, Force of Nature, Youmuu
I really like Frozen mallet over Warmog, because the perma slow effect is just tooooooo good.
DPS: Boots, Doran's Blade, Wriggles, Gunblade, Triforce, Giants belt - Force of nature, Sunfire

I'd say Atmog+Trinity is better than Fatma+FoN.

Yeah I think that item is **** for pretty much any tanky DPS, and particularly awful for Lee Sin.

Lee Sin does the very minimal with that item. It's an awful choice for Lee Sin when you regard the other possible item choices.
He has built in attack speed. You can get more mr for less in a Negatron Cloak. The magic damage per attack isn't substantial and doesn't synergize with his kit at all.
In fact the only champion that comes to mind who actually makes good use of it is Cho Gath.
Why not build Brutalizer / Negatron cloak for that amount of gold and actually deal damage and have MR that's with you BEFORE you start auto attacking?
Lol, or you can just post sassy comments defending a realistically bad item for Lee Sin.
