none of the guides I see are for pure support/tank Alistar, theyre all for roaming... I usually start out with doran's ring, then get my Philosopher's Stone, Heart of Gold, and Kage's Pick... however, I don't know what to get from there.

Faerie Charm, 3 sight wards, and 2 Health Potions
philosopher's stone
Mercury's Treads
Heart of Gold
Sheen
Shurelya's Battlesong
Trinity Force

from there build 2 situational defense items - Randuin's Omen and Banshee's Veil are both good choices. Keep 1 slot open for wards.

I usually get clairvoyance, do I still need to buy wards? I'm a bit new, as you can probably tell now :)

and if I get the three wards and I go bottom lane, where do I put them?

Oh boy you are new.
CV is more of an experience thing and yes, you will still need wards.
I'll explain it a bit more in a bit because I have to go somewhere but, if you look in the general guide section, there should be a warding guide.

Thank you to jhoijhoi for the sig, and all the dividers in the guide.

I'm level 28, but I usually don't worry about wards because I don't really play support often.

It sounds like my guide is exactly what you're looking for. The second build is tanky support, and the main guide will teach you how to perform well in bot lane, as well as warding and items.

Click the stamp in my description if you want to check it out. Unfortunately, a lot of the Ali guides on the site are still limited to AP builds.

I've used your guide before, actually :)

I find it very helpful! Thank you. However, I actually had a question. Why don't you get Kage's Pick? It helps heal and also adds gold per 5.

+repped you btw

Kage's Lucky Pick slows down your build, takes up a slot (which is actually a big deal, you have to have one open for wards), and the AP it gives is negligible. With two gold/10 items, a third is hardly necessary, and the ratio on Triumphant Roar was nerfed to 20%. It's not worth it AT ALL to build AP to buff this skill, especially in the early game. Level it up if you need stronger heals.

Thanks for the rep. It's nice to know some people actually use my guide, it hasn't gotten much traffic for a while now.
Thanks to Jovy for the sig!

It's pretty close to what I use. Lacks an Aegis though, that's a minus.
