Agreed Poppy kills everything! Oh I know, it's so much fun to click on their worst player w/ your Diplomatic Immunity and just wreck the whole team, it is fun, Poppy just exhumes fun, I mean, slamming an OP Jax into a wall and saying Stun Me Now! Ah, one could say therapeutic, I love you Poppy!

Woah, this certainly is different O.o

I usally do Tanky/AD Poppy, or full out AP Poppy :o

Trin force is better for AD Poppy, and LB is better for AP Poppy, you are building AP Poppy, why are people questioning you getting LB?

I'll have to try this out, and see how it goes, then I'll vote :P

A tip from me though, is that sometimes you shouldn't ult the one you want to kill, you should ult the least dangerous person on their team, then run around killing everything else while you're invincible. Though if theres one taget you need down FAST ult him and kill :P

And yeh I agree, Poppy's single target nuke is just ridiculous. A little while ago, I built full ap, and was finished it. Build was:

Sorcs shoes, Rabadons, Lich Bane, Zhonya's Ring, Abyssal Scept, and Void Staff.

Anyway, I was near death and Twitch ambushed me, and was about to kill me. Just for fun I decided to Q him, and after it he had less than 20 health left. Just from Q and LB proc. He was full health, and I didn't have my ult on or anything, and it did like 1800 damage, but then I died, cause I didn't do my full nuke, cause I thought I was dead.

TL/DR, W.R.E.Q. wrecks your opponent (get it?) even if you have sub-200 health, and he's full. If he's squish, and near a wall, don't give up, cause you can kill him :P

Don't get me wrong Trinity Force is a great item, and it is great for many champions. If we were going just strictly straight up AP, I would get a Trinity Force, and get it very early in the game. With that item, the sooner you get it the better. Now when you build Trinity Force, you build key items around it, and you play your champion around it, but one thing I have noticed, while trying out multiple items, is that Trinity Force is expensive, and kind of a pain to make at times. Sometimes you can feel locked into, oh I have to make this item and make it now. That's when you have to look at other items, there is many combinations out there, where you can make your character do the things you want, w/o having to lock yourself into one specific expensive item. Here is something fun you can do, to experiment w/! Build a Zeal, a Hextech Revolver, and a
Sheen. I know what you're thinking, we're on track to build a Trinity Force, not so, turn the
Zeal into a Phantom Dancer, the Hextech Revolver into the Hextech Gunblade, and then the Sheen into Lich Bane. You will be able to feel the difference and see it. I always recommend everyone, when puzzled by items and benefits, take 3 games, build the way you would normally build, then take 3 games, follow a suggested build, then evaluate what you liked and disliked about both games, you never know, you may be able to pick something apart, and take items that you are currently building with, and modify it w/ items someone else suggested, and make an even better build then you already have for yourself. The one thing that is important that everyone forgets, and item is only as good as it suits your needs for how you are going to play, so if you play a way that makes an item ineffective, then you always want to switch items out. Now that being said, don't ever build a Trinity Force and a Lich Bane together, it is too expensive, and they cancel each other out on their benefits. One thing I like to suggest to, whenever I find someone that likes Trinity Force, use Miss Fortune, and build Trinity Force really early, it makes her insanely fun to play! There are a few characters that Trinity Force is a must on, but a lot of times because of the cost of it for one single item, I find other ways or other items to get my benefit, I like to keep my average for a build to 2k gold per item, it's very rare where you play a game and you'll make 20k gold before the game is over, so always keep in mind, that if you're build exceeds 20k gold, you most likely won't get to make it. Just something to be mindful of.

Not a problem my man, let me help you out here. Philosopher's Stone is a gold generating item, plus we went w/ the utility tree and took the extra gold there as well, and if you feel that you really want even more gold, then you can easily take 3x Greater Quintessence of Gold to generate even more gold. This is the key w/ Poppy, you have to tell yourself, no one can 1v1 me, and no one can. What I want you to try for awhile, till you get use to her, is if you are playing Summoner's Rift, mid lane. Poppy is one of the characters that is not suppose to be able to mid lane, that actually can. You will generate gold faster, and again, this is to help prove to you, that no one can 1v1, because no one can. Lets say you are level 3, before you decide to initiate a fight, you have one point in each ability, this is what I want you to do, E-Q-W Exhaust, Ignite, E-Q and that should be it for just about anyone you are facing. Take Regrowth Pendent as your first item, and then turn it into a Philosopher's Stone, also, if you get first blood, which I recommend get aggressive and get w/ your Poppy, you get even more gold. If you are running Twisted Treeline, then run the top lane, remember walls, scenery, minions, anything you ram your opponents into, will stun them, and it makes you feel good inside when you do it, nothing like ramming the enemy into their own turret. The reason why we are taking Thornmail, and then Frozen Heart is for multiple reasons. Lets say you are laning against AD, which most likely you are, and you can be intentional w/ laning against them as well, but if you are against a Xin Zhao, Master Yi, Olaf, Tryndamere, Teemo, Shaco, Gangplank, as well as many more, but these are the most common you will face, your Thornmail will kill them almost completely by itself. Both Thornmail and
Frozen Heart gives you all the armor that you need to survive anything, and the importance of
Frozen Heart is that it lowers your cooldowns so that you can use your abilities quicker, and it gives you a much needed Mana Pool, which you desperately need on Poppy, this Mana Pool will all but resolve your Mana issues for the game, only in very long extensive team fights, will you run out, and surely someone on your team has a Clarity at that point. My in game name is Malieus, if you want feel free to add me, and I will play a few games w/ you, showing you how I play Poppy and the items I use, and then playing a couple w/ you supporting you and assisting you while you play Poppy. I'm not sure when your normal game time is, but if you can let me know, we can figure it out, I'm on and off several times through out the day, but I love having fun, and I love helping peeps, so feel free to come join me in game. We will have a good time! I hope this helps.

Hi Malieus. I appreciate your Tanky/AP approach. It is certainly different than some others I have read. It intrigues me because though I am new to this game I have tried Poppy but have found her to be squishy early. I have also found that she is difficult to build due to her difficulty in obtaining gold early to mid. My experiance is solely limited to a few custom bot games but her early gaming -- for me -- is so difficult that I seem to be always behind in level and equipment! And as you point out her build is expensive. But when I finally get to late mid and late she deals without mercy.

So what do you recommend for a player to do for gaining gold? It would strengthen your guide (unless I missed it which I could have easily done!) if you added this in from your gaming experience. Obtaining gold is the #1 question/issue that I have come across in my research.

Question: Why two armor items in a row? Would not a AP weapon be more logical following Thornmail especially by the time you get to Frozen Heart the laning phase is over? I am not criticizing just trying to understand the sequence.

Thanks and I will try out your build.

K you didn't take time to read the guide, Lich Bane offers more AP then Trinity Force, Lich Bane also has More Mana then Trinity Force, and it offers Magic Resist which coincides with the Suggested Runes. Lich Bane is also slightly cheaper then Trinity Force. Now if you take into consideration, our items that we are building up to Lich Bane, our Mastery points, and our rune choices, Lich Bane is hands down better then Trinity Force for what we are doing, and if you don't believe me, I challenge you to try it, because I started out using Trinity Force before I switched to Lich Bane, I know the difference between the two, and I know the benefit as well. I also played around w/ Abyssal Mask for a little bit, but Lich Bane is much more beneficial. Now my advice to you, don't run both a Lich Bane and a Trinity Force, because they cancel each other out. Good day to you sir, and thank you for your narrow mindedness, it brought up a good topic that needed to be discussed! Next time, before you speak against a guide, you really should attempt the build first, because you never know when someone thought of something that you never did before! :)

You don't have enough AP for a lich bane at all, you would actually do more damage with your Q from a tri force.....
