WHY IS VARUS' Q LIKE NIDALEE SPEAR? LMFAO.
Basically, a non-charged Q is your AD an a charged Q is 2x your AD. That's basically like Nidalee spear since the range varies on what multiplicator damage you get, capping at 2.5x. Except Varus Q can proc Blight that does % Max HP so the .5% difference when you compare spear and Varus Q is neglectable if you take in the Blight proc. Anyways, I'm liking this AD, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm it reminds me of release week Vayne
AP Mid Varus may have viability too. I'd almost consider ghost over flash on him AD or AP. He has no real escape and to be effective in team fights he needs to be moving until he lines up a q to proc on people (or his aoe if he wants)
His kit mechanics feels very similar to Tristana/Twitch/Vayne/MF. Tristana due to the AS buff+griveous wounds, Twitch due to the "expunge" type proc he can use. Vayne for the %HP damage....MF for the AoE slow (granted her's is nigh useless whereas his is epicsauce)

If I'm correct the only thing that scales off AP is his W. His ult might, I haven't looked at it closely enough. He seems okay, I only played around with him during a custom game.
A few issues I have, he seems like a caster AD carry. That said, with no escapes and fairly low movement speed, it almost seems like you have to go

I'll have to play around with him more

Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!
Jeffy, AP Varus may appear to be good, but he should be more of an AP/Attack Speed hybrid, for sure (since he will need blight stacks to deal damage)
I'm thinking that he might be exactly the guy to get a
Nashor's Tooth on. AS will help will applying more blight stacks and CDR will be quite useful since his cooldowns on Q and E aren't that low.

@Moon: His ult has a 1:1 ratio with AP, and W is something like 5% (not sure but it isn't much)? Then the additional %HP damage is like 50AP=1 additional percent. But yes, he has no real mobility, which is sadly why I'd feel better with ghost rather than flash on him. As well his early game cool downs are long. Which basically means if he gets 3 stacks of blight on you but misses a Q or E, his harass is wasted.
@Albableat: Yes, I was considering Malady instead for the shred....Stinger/Nashor might not be terrible either. I've already tried some practice games, just to see the damage potential. Bots mean nothing, but it allows me to experiment with different builds without issue.
I've already gathered that Rylai's/Lichbane/Gunblade/Guinsoo's are basically worthless on him if you go AP.
Lich Bane is merely bad because his cool downs even late game aren't ideal to get the damage proc. Rylai's because he would only get the slow proc AFTER procing Blight with Q or E or R. Gunblade's Spell Vamp component for the same reason, rather the additional damage on each auto attack is too small (even with a large amount of AP) to truly warrant the cost of the item. Guinsoo's because it's just plain bad currently. IF I were to build him AP I'd get:
RoA+Sorcs/Mercs+Rabadon's+Malady/Nashor+Void Staff+Defensive item/Morello's. The "/" merely means that either item can work there.

Hmmm... Varus seems like that kind of champion, that counters people like
Xerath. He might fit in to
Xerath and
Lux category. But that is only because of his Q. Unlike
Xerath and his W, Varus seems to have long range ONLY with his Q. He's going to by a tricky one, but he doesn't seem bad. Is he like
Xerath as if you get in close, you can trade pretty easily? Does anyone know his Natural MR, Health, and Armor? Or just his stats in general?
Also Varus seems like a champion that CAN escape with Ghost. Ghost will probably save him since he has a slow and with Ghost allowing him to escape. Thinking about it also, Ghost/Exhaust would probably be the way to go, since he seem's like a super heavy aggro champion.
Overall I think he's going to be a jack of all trades. He has CC with his E and R, but he also has great amazing long range abilities. And with W he really is like
Twitch. Oh gawd, AP/AD Carry >.> This is going to be werid @_@

He's one of like 2-3 champs that have a "trade" in their kits. Rumble is the first, in that the more you use his abilities the closer you are to silencing him, but then you get additional damage on AAs. Tryn trades rage for health. Varus trades mobility for range. I cant think of any other champions who specifically "harm themselves" to gain an advantage or additional utility.
ok, heres my build i've been using, its a sorta hybridy build.
sandals of situation
Malady
Hextech Gunblade
Guinsoo's Rageblade
Madred's Bloodrazor
situational, usually more geared towards defence.
hextech just seems to be core on him, because he benefits from every stat. (the mini nuke and slow isnt that bad either)
