Will AP Cho be more reliable with the upcoming patch?

I'm personally a big fan of Cho'Gath. He was one of my first mains, and the second character I ever bought on my account (right after Ashe).

That being said, I've always thought AP Cho'Gath is a little lackluster. He does great damage, but in lane, his moves are very unreliable as damage sources due to their delays. And using them in team fights as a damage source defeats the purpose of placing them at the right place and time to correctly CC the enemies.

The upcoming patch is making all his casting times faster, and fixing the delay bug on Rupture, as well as increasing the range of Feast, and making the range and size of Vorpal Spikes increase as Cho grows.

I'm wondering if these changes will make AP Cho a more reliable and effective damage dealer than he was previously, and possibly make him start being seen maybe even at mid lane.

What do you guys think?

PS: Riot's really banking on my love for robotics, must have Battlecast Cho.

His AP ratios are great, his moves just have never been completely reliable even to pros with him, due to the delays and that bug on Rupture.

-Magic Resist increased to 31.25 (+1.25 per level), up from 30.
-Feast range increased to 150, from 100.
-Vorpal Spikes now grow as Cho'gath grows in size.
-Rupture delay changed to be a set delay.

Those are the cho changes on PBE. Mostly just QoL buffs. The feast one is the biggest one I'm looking forward to. Best thing hes getting out of this patch is the amazing Cho'Gath skin. The MR/lvl is nice to, about 20 mr lvl 18.

I don't see how he could be less reliable with the changes. Your poll kind of answers itself.

I think what you're really asking is whether AP Cho will return to the competetive scene. I think we'll have to wait and see though. From what I can see, this change is more to make it easier on players that already play Cho and perhaps to encourage people to pick him up again. I don't think this is going to have much of an impact on his viability though since they're more QoL improvements than buffs.
Thanks to Lugignaf for the sig!

You're right, PsiGuard. Lol, everyone disregard my stupid poll question.

Yes will AP Cho'Gath return to the competitive scene, is what I meant.

He's been viable for the competitive scene. There are just safer picks. When you take cho you risk getting denied early and falling off, these changes won't change that, there will still be the same risk/reward factor involved and the pros will still picked based on that.

True, but now that his moves are more reliable, he may be able to harass some champions far better, or trade better in lane. I think this will make him safer. He's always been a beast at HOLDING a lane, he's just had trouble killing anyone with boots. XD

His rupture used to have a random timing, now it doesnt it has an inbetween timing so it could be FASTER or SLOWER. Boots will still counter it xD
