This changed my view on this subject. However, i believe that if it stays this way every 1700+ ELO player will leave the site, which means the community of mobafire is growing but in the wrong direction. Mobafire already has an awful reputation because of unviable builds and guides being at the top.

Both of these statements are awfully true.

And we got to find a way to compromise this somehow.
+Rep pls if I helped! One click doesn't hurt :D Check out my first guide featuring Darius (NEED MOAR VOTEZ)!

Well, not much you can do about.

Either way it's FFA or "Pros" dictate...

And I'm for the first when it comes down to it.

Only thing I'd see as a "fair" alternative is, that only ppl who are active on Moba get a right to vote/write guides.

Well, still means that anyone can get it, but indirectly it supports ppl who are active for a longer time and therefore increased their knowledge.

The Scout sytem uses the same base but enhances voting totally wrong.
Instead of allowing more active/veteran players to give a more valued vote, it supports a few ppl who are either more popular at the forums or ppl who actually only work to gather +rep.

And also I think that you can't win anything by giving some ppl more value and mix them with the "normal" voters.

tl;dr:

Only vote/guide creation rights for more active forum members (like blocking post spamming and allowing only ppl with X posts to do it etc.)
Maybe you can make a seperate category for ppl who don't fullfill the requirements, too.

But with or without it, sweeping the guide section after the changes is a must.

The first time I started using this site was actually the same time I started playing LoL, I didn't know how to build certain champions and whatnot. As time progressed I came to an understanding as to why we build on certain champions. In that sense, this site is great for newbies and low elo players to help them start as these guides are quiet decent.

Perhaps what you're looking for would be a section that is completely separate from the current system. In that sense, what you're looking for is a private section where only those with "1700+" guides are at in retrospect with others. Or perhaps having the guide a different color to show that you're in a different elo range?

This concept is actually rather fragile as in, whatever direction(if at all), this goes it will change the psychology of how people will perceive other guides.

ex. That person is high Elo, therefore, his guide must be more correct than this person who is just slightly lower than him, but does not contribute his time to get high elo even though hes probably better than the higher elo.

oh this is for normal voting = bad idea LOL.

I agree if this were to actually take effect then it is the same as the theory of Rich v Poor. In a sense it is the same as the 3/5 compromise(american history).

This system would make it pointless for the lower elo to give their opinion and vote, rather it would be discouraging.

Giving high elo people 3x more voting power than reg would feed their egotism. Not to mention if they really wanted, hypothetically speaking, they could just form a group and down vote every other guides thats not their own. Not to mention those "troll" votes that you cant do anything about.

This is simply too destructive of an idea on a public site where we all just want to help the community grow.

I disagree. Sure, it would feed their egotism, however I don't see a whole lot of kids who are going '1111i'msogoodeveryoneelsesuckslolololnoob***gosuckyourmoms****' and if there are people like that, we don't have to give them any more votes at all, I actually don't think there's anyone on Mobafire like this whose high elo. I also don't see how this would make low elo's opinion pointless, ultimately this is a site for them, and they also outnumber the high elo's by about 300000 lol. Guides are still likely to get bandwagon'd by low elo people who think the guide is good, but with this system it would still be possible to counter act that, currently right now there's zero way to do so.

As for high elo people downvoting the **** out of a guide they don't like, well I think we can agree that hypothetically speaking it would also be possible for me to become a Jedi tomorrow and quit mobafire cause I'm to busy saving lives. Just because it could happen doesn't mean it will. I don't think it would ever happen anyways, and it would be pretty easy to spot if it did happen. Personally though I have a bit more trust in our high elo community then that.

And with high elo people, I don't think troll votes would really ever happen. Anyone who is high elo and is active on Mobafire knows enough to explain why they voted on a guide, from what i've seen.

Having a different section which is separate wouldnt work yeah. I think the suggestion i have at the top is the only thing i can think of at the moment that would work for high elo players...

I now understand that this site is designed to not have viable builds. This site is designed to only reach the casual and new audience. Now i get why i get so many pitchforks pointed at me ^^'

My point exactly. I dont see any reason to not make this happen. Like i said, this isnt a country. This is where people come to LEARN.

Just didnt have brains enough to convince people it seems.

Guide sites NEED players who know what they are talking about.

Just saying, if you have a problem with a top rated guide, PM the author or comment in the comment section.

If they don't alter the guide based on your MIGHTY HIGH ELO suggestions, make your own guide.

If they do make changes due to positive feedback, you can pat yourself on the head for making MobaFire a better place without the elitism.
