Hey community!

im not new to LoL but i have a basic question so i decided it would fit best in this section.

My question is:

Which champions scale into lategame/are worse lategame than others?

is there an easy way to find it out? i mean i know that champs like jax, vayne, irelia for example scale well into lategame, but why?

i hope you can help me with that!

Thanks in advance!

The champs that scale well into late game are those that have high bases on their abilities and high ratios, or have kits that synergize well with survivability items that make them stronger as well. Jax is the epitome of late game scaling, because he only really needs a couple of offensive items to decimate people and then build nothing but survivability mid to late game (the offensive items are Trinity Force, Hextech Gunblade, and maybe Guinsoo's Rageblade). That and he gets so much regen from spellvamp AND lifesteal. Truedamage champs scale really well ( Cho'Gath, Darius, Irelia) because they dont really need to build much in the way of offense and can focus almost strictly on defense while still dealing impressive damage. Meta-golem builds work really well with these champs (starting gp10 philosopher's stone, Heart of Gold, move on to items like Maw of Malmortius, Frozen Mallet, Atma's Impaler)(but this obviously doent work on cho... he needs stuff like Rod of Ages, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, then nothing but tank items). Another champ that scales better and better as the game goes on is Veigar. He has a special reason, because of Baleful Strike he literally NEVER stops getting more powerful. he just grows and grows and grows. Other champs only scale well if they get fed early, these are called snow ballers. The champs that just crush EVERYONE if they get a kill or two ahead are champs like Akali, Katarina, and the like. They don't really count as great late game scalers because their success really depends on early games, whereas the true late game power scalers really dont need to get alot of early kills, they are unstoppable glaciers grinding forward.

Hope this helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask

Snowbally champions scale better into the late game because people don't know how to shut them down. Champions that have high burst damage during the mid game Akali Katarina Riven Irelia have a strong potential to become late game threats due to the fact they can easily pick up kills.

Other champions like Shyvana Master Yi and Dr. Mundo can snowball into late game due to their ability to out farm everyone else on the map.

Any champion can do well late game based on how their early game was. I mean, we consider Ezreal to be known for his dominant early game, but if his early game is very strong then his late game will be strong as well. Vayne is considered to be strong late game due to her true damage passive, but if she is shut down she's just a below average damage source during the late game.

In all honesty, I can't say that there are specific champions that will always do well in the late game. It's completely dependent on skill levels, player foresight, and the jungler doing his job.

Lots of AD Carry's scale well into lategame (Ex. Vayne, Kog'Maw, Tristana) This is because tanks will eventually lose to AD Carry's as the carry could just get a Last Whisper and melt through your armor.

But like Countersnipe said, if you do well early game, you'll do well lategame, and vice versa.

Thanks to jhoijhoi and LaCorpse for the amazing sigs!

In my eyes also CC-champs like Morgana, Galio, Amumu, Malphite. Simply because they got a great teamfight potential.

You are going to want to pick champions with high ratios on at least one of their abilities, or scaling range (for attack damage carries). Champions like Kog'Maw and Tristana scale by range. Champions like Jax and Irelia scale with skills, items, and overall survivability.

Don't forget Ryze. With just some mana pool items he can go for a penta nearly solo, if the other team didn't build Mres..
Be a grammar nazi with me, i need to improve my english T_T

Hypercarries:
Tristana - 720 range, the best steroid of any ADC, She can hit you, but you can't hit her
Vayne - Tank shredder with a steroid on pretty much all of her abilities, a reposition every 2-4 secs
Ryze - Scales off mana but becomes extremely tanky with Frozen Heart, Banshee's Veil, etc. Spell vamp on his ult too
Kog'Maw - 720 range, shreds % health
Karthus - His passive is absurd in team fights, defile does aton of damage, so does lay waste, and his ult

Scale Well:
Anivia - ton's of utility, great ratio's, egg
Cassiopeia - highest potential damage output in the game plus good ratio's
Diana - tanky ap mage assassin
Evelynn - insane mobility, % health ultimate that makes her tanky, Hatespike can deeps hard
Elise - Becomes a tanky AP bruiser that can deal % health and lock people down
Irelia - Bruiser assassin, no way to stop her from jumping on your carry
Jax - similar to irelia, but a few ways to stop him from getting to your carry, insane steroids on W and ult
Katarina - AP assassin with high mobility, good ratio's and resets on every kill
Nasus - farm Q
Olaf - Strong at all points of the game, ghost+ult = dead enemy carry. Nothing can stop olaf
Poppy - her ultimate and trinity force.
Singed - becomes fairly unkillable to the point that only the ADC can kill him and he can usually run away
Syndra - very high damage output plus a nice stun
Twitch - extremely high AoE damage output with his ultimate
Tryndamere - his ultimate, plus scales extremely well off crit, armorpen, and attack speed
Veigar - his ultimate not only scales off himself but his enemy target
Vladimir - 14% amplified damage when he uses his ult, his E amplifies damage and healing/regen. Everything in his kit amplifies his damage and health

Hypercarries and champions that can single-handidly win a game, but there are some champions like Poppy who can reach hypercarry status, but I just haven' included them in the list because parts of their game are so weak.
Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!
