Playing around with the changes to Taric on PBE, and I believe if these changes go live Taric will become commonplace everywhere outside support.

Played him a few times now in each lane, and even jungle, and it feels like he just plain out damages almost everyone I've fought. AD champs have no chance against his early armor, and he can just freeze lane and heal himself. He doesn't need to go for kills. Against AP champs, the burst hurts so badly.

Now these are things that Taric can already do, but now that his passive gives him bonus auto damage based on mana, and Shatter now scales in damage off armor, Taric actually scales past early game as a damage dealer now.

Example builds:

Ninja Tabi > Muramana > Iceborn Gauntlet, Warmog's Armor, Black Cleaver, Banshee's Veil

Sorcerer's Shoes > Seraph's Embrace > Rod of Ages > Rabadon's Deathcap, Abyssal Mask, Zhonya's Hourglass

I've tested both those builds and so far he seems to hold up in damage even into late game. I'm very excited to be able to play Taric outside of support viably.

What do you guys think?

You get cleaver waaaaay too late IMO. He can be pretty nice in lane but now he lost his mana regen passive so his costs might make him suck versus high sustain champs (Cho/Nasus/Singed/Garen). It sounds interesting, but dunno yet.

I'm still more curious about Bruiser Quinn :P

I feel he would have the same issues as with Sion top and mid he would be so obvious so he can't really surprise people with a burst.

Panth is kinda obvious and 9/10 people would still eat the stun

That's the beauty of it, in my head. They know it will happen, and they will fear it. And they will avoid it. I'm free to farm.

Well when i did the AD build, I was jungling, didnt get enough to buy it.

As for rhe second part, I just rushed Tear, and I was honestly fine. I was against Garen too, I can pretty much say Taric hard counters him. He does no damage to to Taric period, and Taric can actually build damage items against him and just farm. his heal is pretty cheap, and if you're doing AP Taric he has pretty damn awesome sustain in lane.

And yea, Bruiser Quinn is something i have yet to test.

Iceborn Gauntlet probably going to be core imo.

SO MUCH AOE

I'm thinking

Ninja Tabi
Iceborn Gauntlet
Sunfire Aegis
Abyssal Mask
Warmog's Armor
Something else

^Something like that for a full build. Maybe an attack speed item or Muramana. Probably a Trinity Force too, if you get fed.

I think Muramana is core, personally. He scales so well off mana and armor. MR is just kind of "if you need it"

Frozen Heart& Warmog's Armor
I think Iceborn would work okay on a more offensive build. But Building him like Malphite but with more mana would be hilariously tanky with enough damage to be scary.

I really think Garen would beat Taric. His early game harass is too much for Taric too handle and once Garen hits level 6 he will just obliterate him with his magic damage nuke.

Mundo goes where he pleases.

That would be the case if you didn't have cloth armor and 5 pots plus Shatter's armor bonus. Everything Garen does is countered by armor before level 6. Not to mention you can heal. It's largely a stalemate lane.

Didn't Shatter lose a lot of it's early game aura though?
I guess stalemate is the better way to put it.
But if Garen manages to get an early kill well.. Even towers won't save you then.

Mundo goes where he pleases.
