You can't buy a ward if you start Doran's Shield, which top laners almost always start with because it's stupidly good.

idk why this guy is saying "no one starts red buff on blue team in low elo"

im in low elo and 9 times out of 10 the jungler starts the buff closest to bot lane unless theyre a ****ty jungle player or shaco

just because people you play with play terrible doesnt mean its the right thing to do, so dont give bad information

Lee sin, Tryn, Zac and a bunch of other manaless junglers usually always start red in low elo.
Not that I've ever seen the last two in any of my silver games.

Basically MOBAFire.

This was a problem in season 2 (when jungling truly was mandatory, and people were still learning), but I didn't notice this happening in season 3 much - never encountered a buff "steal" by an ally, or accidental gold/xp leech, like I did in season 2 (for example, when junglers used to start at a small camp, waiting for the buff camps to spawn). Are you blanket discussing this, or did it happen at your elo? I find it odd to think that people don't know how to jungle/help jungle in high plat.

How to spot someone who hasn't played with me when I am playing top.

It's not a matter of leashing wrong, Jai, it's just that the top laner by himself can't give a full smiteless without being screwed over early in lane. The people who actually mained or played a lot of top knew this so they would leave early enough that they wouldn't lose xp or gold from lane, which means a ****ty leash.

It's much easier for the bot lane to leash, especially since the AD carry can leave a little early to get the first cs while the support can lend an extra couple autoattacks.

But like I said it's not as necessary anymore because you can smite the first buff.

Psi is right. Stop arguing people.

Would like to add that even though you can smite the first buff, it is likely that starting bottom side will remain the mainstream strategy.

If you meant me by that, I didn't say "no one".

Keep an eye out for my soon to be published guides ;)

With the number of factors including the lane being pushed by whoever gets to top first, lane match ups, jungle ganks (early or late) and just different playstyles I am astounded at the number of high ranking players who seem to insist that hard-leashing for the jungler as top is ruinous.

Seems more ruinous to be counter-picked than to be down 2 cs of gold and exp, especially if your opponent will then be in the pushing position by the second wave of creeps and closer to your tower (and thus more vulnerable to ganks from where-ever they may come).

What the **** champion is capable of a level 1 cheese? Riven with red pot?

In silver 2's, I start where is most appropriate for me to start.

If anything, I'd say the new timing of smite making it easier to clear from red to blue without losing all your mana makes it more likely for you to start red. Which I do. On both sides. Hell, if I'm jungle I'll usually level 2 gank top just because nobody does that anymore and its a fast way to burn a flash or a pot of the enemy top laner.

In summary
1. Why are you losing top lane from being 2 creeps behind when there are other factors to consider?
2. Why are you basing your jungle solely off one lane when there are other factors (and lanes) to consider?
