Threats & Synergies
A Good GP will put barrels under him and make it impossible to trade him. You may win 1v1s, but his team fights are much better. I ban him every time. Take Dorans Shield.
You might have a chance to kill him early on, however once he gets frozen mallet, then you will be kited all game and your 1v1 potential is done. Just clear waves. Take Dorans Shield.
You will beat her early, but once she gets 2 items, she will snowball. You need to put her in the dirt and finish the game ASAP.
Blinds can ruin your day and she has a great kit to really mess you up. Once you have 6, you can 1v1 however she will be roaming so make to call MIAs. Shove lane when she leaves.
Q blinds are annoying but once it is over, you can wreck Teemo. Don't tilt and stay calm. If he uses w before the blind is up, you will get wrecked.
Bad players I would have as a 2 because without proper combos will get wrecked. D2 and higher elo Riven players will combo correctly and be a tough matchup.
Once you are level 3 and you use proper rage management, you will win every trade.
Easy matchup. No point in the early or mid game where she can outrade you. If she makes a mistake, you can all in her at all points.
If you can bait out her passive shield pre 6 and combo well after it is down, you should win trades. Once you get 6, you will destory her.
Really easy pre 6. Easy to dodge his abilities with your e. You need to establish dominance early because once he gets his core, then you will have hard times. Silence can also be really annoying. Watch the animation for it and you can dodge it.
I have a VOD review below that will break it down really well. Don't at all trade with him before level 3. If he uses an ability and misses after you get level 3, you will out trade him every time. Watch his passive stacks and do go in if he has ANY on you.
You out trade him at all points of the game. You will outburst him faster than he heals. If he walks up for any CS, your damage is too much for him to handle.
As long as you stun him before he gets his Q silence off, you will trade well. Make sure that you keep trading with him so that he can't get his healing up. What makes it difficult is that if you get a kill pre 6, then you will get a villain stack over you and you can't trade with him.
His turrets are very annoying and hurt like hell, but if you can dodge or bait his stun then you can possibly burst him down in one trade.
You need to try to kill her pre 6 and you need to learn to dodge her tentacles. If you can't do those, then you will really struggle after 6. The key is dodging.
She is going to place her stun down and try to avoid it or she will get 2 q dashes on you. Also do not use your abilities if she has her damage reduction. Save it till right after it ends.
Somewhat annoying early on but once you get 6, you will wreck him at all points in the game.
There really isn't a point in the game where you will out trade him, however if you can bait out his E, then you should be able to out trade him. If you waste your W on his E, then he can probably kill you.
Don't trade pre 3. Try to survive till you are 6. Once you are 6, you should be able to out trade. Dorans shield is a must.
Dorans shield start. He is much better in team fights. You might be able to kill him if he uses his dash, however you will probably lose every trade. Take advantage of his cooldowns if he makes a mistake.
If you burst him down off his mount, reset your cooldowns and rage to burst him down again or he will just remount and all in you.
He struggles to trade with you at level 3 and for the rest of the game you should be able to press your dominance. Shove lanes because he is really bad under tower.
Very easy matchup. Pressure and you out trade him. He is a ticking time bomb because at around 30 mins, he will start to beat you 1v1.
You will out trade him level 3 on. Won't be able to 1v1 you for the rest of the game.
Avoid trading until level 3. His level 1 is disgusting. Very easy to gank for you jungler, so call for a gank. Even at level 6, do not look for all in without chunking him down.
Try to bait out his fire breath. If you can avoid it, then you will out trade every time. What makes it annoying is that he can buy items in lane so keep pressuring you.
Dorans shield start. Do not try to trade with him pre 6. After 6, you will wreck him.
Avoid the bushes and trading pre 6. After 6, you will wreck him. Do not let him snowball. He has a lot of kill pressure pre 6. His cooldowns are also much shorter than yours.
If she doesn't have her passive shield, then you should be able to trade pretty well. Try to bait out her W because it can stop your dash.
Keep trading with him to prevent his passive shield from coming up. Your sustain with Q and him having none is a big advantage in this matchup.
Pretty annoying matchup. Can't really trade with him at all unless he over heats. Still only a short window though. You will outscale him in a 1v1 as soon as you finish your 1st item. So once done, all in him as much as possible.
This matchup sucks. You can't trade with him pre 6 because if you try to get on top of him, then his passive shield will negate damage. Once you hit 6, if he misses his snare, then you possibly have a chance to out trade him. Expect a rough lane and being kited out all game. Good luck.
Avoid trading with him pre 6. Once you are 6 you will be able to out trade him very hard. Make sure that you bait out his W prior to stunning. If you don't, then you will just waste your stun.
At level 3, you can trade decently well, but really depends on how good the singed player is. If you get a lead, then he will proxy. Teleport is a must in this lane.
If you can avoid his E, then the rest of his trade will miss you due to your mobility. You can out trade him on mistakes pretty easily. Important thing is dodging his E. Easy matchup if you can.
You might be able to kill him pre 6 and can look for trades. Make sure to avoid his pull back. You are one of the few champs that can sustain his ultimate with your own and you should be okay.
Avoid trading pre 6. Once you are 6, you have a little bit of kill pressure.
You have sustain and you should out trade him with your full combo with rage. However do NOT look to all in him unless he is chunked hard. He will win extended trades.
Level 3 on if you keep it to short trades, you will win. Do not do extended trades on him. Once you have level 6, you can bait out his ulti with how much your burst is, back off then all in him after it is over.
Dorans Shield start. Only way you can out trade him is by baiting out his E. If not, then don't look to trade. Just survive laning phase.
You can kill this guy level 3 on an all in. Look for trades and avoid his empowered Q. Try to put him down early because he scales very hard.
You should win all trades due to your sustain. Make sure you don't waste your stun on your clone. Misplay of your W is the only way that he can kill you.
Don't fight him pre 3, but once you have your 3 and use empowered abilities, you will destroy him. His only chance is pre 3.
He is going to want to Q stack off your minions. When he does it, trade with him and you will win every time. You can use your ghouls against him by using your Q on them in fights.
Gives him a shield for a bit more survivability. You will be able to create a great setup for her R. Orianna's AoE abilities combined with Renekton's Q, E, and can shred enemy teams.
Elise and Renekton are a deadly 2v2 combo. With her stun, you'll be able to spam your skills with ease.
She can easily dive with her tankinesss helping Renekton shred the enemy team.
Champion Build Guide
I am a One Trick Pony Renekton player on the NA server who has climbed as high as Challenger 520 LP. I also have the 3rd most games with Renekton in the world with a whopping 4 million mastery points.
I have played Renekton with, and against, a vast majority of the high elo top laners in North America - at one point or another, so I believe myself to be a master at this champion.
I play a very aggressive play style by building almost entirely damage, which allows me to make some ridiculous plays, ...as well as many other fails.

Lane position: Top
Jungler ganking potential: Ideal
Why Blood and Vengeance?
Renekton is fun because he is easy to learn the basics and be successful whilst also having a very high skill cap that takes a ton of practice to be able to master. Renekton has high versatility in his build paths, good mobility and very high outplay potential.
Renekton is different to other champions, in that he uses rage instead of mana.
Effective rage management is essential to doing the immense damage that I, myself have showcased.
He can provide single target, non-dodgable CC, as well as mobility, healing and strong AOE.
Most champions have a very hard counter that completely shuts them down. Renekton is quite unique in that he can be blind picked into any lane, and still be effective. Of course there are still hard lanes, but none that are impossible.
What else is built into Renekton's kit, is that he is able to push lanes hard and still have 2 dashes to make clutch escapes from ganks. By keeping the lane pushed, he is able to use the enemy minions to dash off of.
AS OF 9.14 Renekton's Ruthless Predator now destroys existing shields on targets when empowered with 50 Fury before its existing effects - making him an even stronger laning threat vs champions such as Riven.
Proper Rage Management and nowing how to combo correctly are what separate the bad, and good Renektons. Proper wave management and macro play will get you to elite status.
Flash is your engage summoner, your escape summoner, and all in between summoner. Take this every time.
I have been running Flash and Ghost together to help stick to my target, very good combination
Teleport is your primary summoner in place of Ghost, for split pushing and dominating lane early game.
Keep your rage high for fights, and do not use it sparingly!
I tend to ult early when I see a fight about to break out so that I can build up my rage.
You can animation cancel your W with your R
This is Renekton's level 2 all-in combo.
This is Renekton's level 3 all-in combo.
This is Renekton's Panther combo.
★ Press the Attack is Renekton's strongest keystone and should be taken at all times. We can proc it extremely easy with our combos and it adds a lot of extra damage to our burst.
★ Triumph helps you manage 1v2's easier, if you get one kill, you restore 12% of your missing health - turning the fight in your favor. You also receive an additional 20 gold, which is always beneficial.
★ You gain 3% attack speed plus an additional 1.5% for every Legend stack (max 10 stacks). I build very aggressive, and more attack speed is invaluable for this build, it has good synergy with Reign of Anger.
Legend: Tenacity is also useful if the enemy team has a lot of CC, you're in the middle of fights and you're bound to get CC'd.
★ This rune helps to increase your burst damage, you're always in the middle of the fray, taking targeted and AoE damage from all sources. If you know you can wait until you get to 30% HP - without dying - this will increase the potency of your entire combo.
★ When you're going aggressive, you want to be taking Bone Plating, it helps negate a lot of incoming damage and especially during trades. We have enough sustain in our kit that we no longer need to take Second Wind.
★ Overgrowth is one of the best runes to take on Renekton, the more monsters or enemy minions that die near you, you permanently gain additional HP - this is great survivability for mid to late game teamfights. A lot of people take Demolish but I find it doesn't add much as if you're behind it's pretty useful and if you're ahead you're already ahead.
★ Magical Footwear is great when you're dominating lane and can get free early boots, saving us 300g that can be put towards our core items, and it gives us a bonus 10 extra MS, great for sticking to targets.
★ Not as great as it was because it's lost CDR now, but still useful for the summoner spell haste to reduce cooldowns.
★You can tell your jungler not to come top lane until they have taken the first dragon spawn.
★Dominate your lane, you can tower dive, and/or force the enemy laners recall, keep the lane pushed for pressure.
★Watch the videos below for very in-depth explanations on how to play during the early game.
★Watch the video below for a very in-depth explanation on how to play the mid game.
★ You can be outscaled at this point, so you don't like getting to late game. Split pushing, and picking off enemies is your best bet. During team fights, assassinate enemy carries or zone for your carries again.
If you are fed and your team is behind, then you are going to be able to play more aggressively, and take more risks.
If your team is fed, you will play less aggressive and take less risks.
If the enemies are fed, then you are going to be trying to assassinate the most fed, if possible. If there is a Janna or Lulu, I usually prioritize them, because they will cause the most trouble, as of 9.14 Ruthless Predator now destroys their shields when empowered with 50 fury, making them easier to deal with. Renekton is the most powerful as a split pusher to keep rage built up, and for the 1v2 potential. I usually take bot lane during split pushing to ensure that we don't lose control over Baron Nashor 's pit.
Below is a series that breaks down different games in high elo (Diamond 1 and higher) that goes into detail on my decision making process and how to carry or come back from behind.
Even if you are not a Renekton player, this information is extremely valuable and many people have told me that they have shot up many tiers or divisions just by watching these and implementing the concepts into their own games. I really hope that this helps you guys and look forward to feedback.
