[14.5] Lucian Guide by misterfirstblood

By misterfirstblood
Introduction
Hello guys, I'm MisterFirstBlood from EUW and today I'm gonna show you how to play Lucian.
Pro's and con's
+ Solid Early Game
+ Mobility
+ Easy to trigger Press the attack
+ Easy to snowball when get a Lead

- Short attack range
- Bad lategame
- Weak against Tanks
Spells
Passive: Lightslinger
Whenever Lucian uses an ability, his next attack becomes a double-shot. When Lucian is empowered by another Ally, his next 2 basic attacks will deal bonus magic damage.

Q: Piercing Light
Lucian shoots a bolt of piercing light through a target.

W: Ardent Blaze
Lucian shoots a missile that explodes in a star shape, marking and briefly revealing enemies. Lucian gains Move Speed for attacking marked enemies.

E: Relentless Pursuit
Lucian quickly dashes a short distance. Lightslinger attacks reduce Relentless Pursuit's cooldown.

R: The Culling
Lucian unleashes a torrent of shots from his weapons.
Items
Galeforce feels like it was just created for lucian. I mean he always was mobile with his short cooldown dash, but having another dash to compensate his relatively low attack range rounds up his kit pretty well.
Essence Reaver solves most of his problems too and increases his damage by a ton. since Patch 13.1b Infinity Edge might be a good rival for Essence Reaver because if offers a little more damage in comparison to Reaver, but less utility. Depending on your current needs both of these items are okay, but i recommend testing out which fits better for your playstyle.
Lucian is one of these champions that will have a huge powerspike for every finished item.

The Collector is just a worse IE as third item, while Serylda's Grudge offers you utility by applying a slow to your enemies. For Shredding tanks you need Lord Dominik's Regards and to finish up your build you can buy either defensive items or Rapid Firecannon.
Runes
Press the attack is very easy to trigger. You just auto attack press E double auto attack and use your other 2 abilities and 4 auto attacks with a 12% damage boost on top.
Thats way too amazing not to use it.

Lucian casts a lot of abilities and has a short range so he really needs a bit of sustain in the laning phase. Legend: Bloodline and Presence of Mind solve these issues. For your damage option in the final row of the Precision tree i recommend Coup de Grace as its the most generic option that you will always have a benefit from.
In second tree my personal recommendation is the inspiration tree.
Like other ad carries lucian also benefits from reaching his powerspike as soon as possible so you can save a lot of gold by not buying boots and lots of health potions and use magical footwear and biscuit delivery fron inspiration tree instead.
Tips
- Tell your supporter to go all in at level 2/3. Your damage with 3 abilities is amazing and you will have 7 auto attacks + press the attack in a single spell rotation. Thats a huge kill condition and should not be wasted.
- Always start your combo with your weakest ability, so your stronger ones benefits from press the attack.
I mostly start with Autoattack W Double auto attack continue with E double auto attack and Q double auto attack. If you are level 6 yet you can use your ult after this combo.
- Use E early to get it's cooldown low again. Everytime you attack you reduce it's cooldown.
- When you want to ult try to hit a W before so you will get a movement speed bonus while hitting ult shots.
- Check river for plants. Lucians mana costs are very high.
- Try to steal dragons and barons with ult. You are dealing increased damage to monsters.
- If you dont feel able to kite your enemies frontline anymore (because of that short attack range) red buff and rapid firecannon will help you out.
Summary
Lucian is good when you are able to get a Lead fast and end games.
If youre rather a defensive player who wants to scale lucian might be the wrong champ for you.
His dash is amazing he's a strong 1v1 champ and you can completely outplay people in early and mid game.
Thank You!
Thanks for paying attention to my guide. My English is not the best so if you find mistakes feel free to correct me.
