In-Depth Sejuani Jungle Guide (Patch 14.20)
Sejuani is a powerful tank jungler known for her engage potential, crowd control, and ability to tank heavy damage. With her stun-heavy kit and AOE damage, she excels in teamfights and setting up kills for her team. This guide will take a deep dive into her runes, item builds, ability order, and more to help you master Sejuani Jungle in Patch 14.20.
Runes for Sejuani Jungle
For Sejuani Jungle, we use the Resolve tree as the primary choice due to the tankiness and sustain it offers. The Precision tree complements this by giving Sejuani better survivability in extended fights.
- Keystone: Aftershock – Sejuani's kit revolves around CC, and Aftershock provides extra resistances when you immobilize an enemy, followed by an AOE burst. This keystone makes you incredibly tanky after engaging, allowing you to survive longer in fights.
- Font of Life – Every time you CC an enemy, your allies heal when they attack the marked target. This rune synergizes well with Sejuani’s ability to lock down multiple enemies during teamfights, granting your team extra sustain.
- Conditioning – At the 12-minute mark, Conditioning grants bonus armor and magic resist, making Sejuani even harder to kill in the mid to late game.
- Overgrowth – Overgrowth increases your maximum health as you farm jungle camps or participate in teamfights. This scaling health bonus allows you to soak more damage as the game progresses.
- Secondary Tree: Precision –
- Triumph – Restores health after you score a takedown, which is crucial for surviving long teamfights or skirmishes in the jungle. It also grants extra gold on kills, which helps snowball your lead.
- Legend: Alacrity – Attack speed is crucial for Sejuani to apply her Frost stacks faster, allowing you to quickly proc your E (Permafrost) stun. This also helps with jungle clear efficiency.
Stat Shards
- Attack Speed – Faster jungle clears and faster Frost stacks for your stuns.
- Adaptive Force – Adds extra damage to help with clearing camps and dealing more damage in ganks.
- Scaling Health – Boosts Sejuani’s late-game tankiness by increasing her health pool, making her an unkillable frontliner as the game goes on.
Core Item Build
Sejuani excels with a tank-heavy build, allowing her to soak up damage and lock down priority targets in fights. This build focuses on maximizing her survivability while enhancing her crowd control and team utility.
- Zeke’s Convergence – This is a core item for Sejuani, as it provides a large health pool, armor, and cooldown reduction. The passive allows your immobilizing abilities to boost the damage of a nearby ally, giving your team extra power during engages. Zeke’s is perfect for teamfights when paired with an ADC or a bursty mid-laner.
- Warmog’s Armor – Once you have over 3000 health, Warmog’s passive allows you to regenerate a massive amount of health out of combat. This makes Sejuani incredibly resilient, especially after surviving a teamfight. You can re-engage faster and without having to back.
- Thornmail – Thornmail offers a great mix of armor and Grievous Wounds. It's an excellent item against healing-based champions like Aatrox, Dr. Mundo, or ADCs with lifesteal. The reflection damage from Thornmail punishes enemies who focus you in fights.
Situational Items
Your core items will get you through most games, but in certain situations, you may need to adapt to the enemy team composition.
- Frozen Heart – Attack speed slows are extremely valuable against champions like Jax, Yasuo, or Vayne. Frozen Heart gives Sejuani armor and reduces enemy attack speed in a large AOE, making it hard for auto-attack-dependent champions to shred through you.
- Force of Nature – A fantastic option against heavy AP teams. It offers magic resist and movement speed, allowing you to get in and out of fights faster while mitigating magic damage.
- Randuin’s Omen – The best armor item against critical strike champions like Yasuo or Jinx. It reduces crit damage taken and slows the enemy's attack and movement speed after using its active ability.
Ability Order
Sejuani’s ability order focuses on maximizing her jungle clear speed and her crowd control for ganks and teamfights.
1. Max W (Winter’s Wrath) – W is your main source of AOE damage and clears jungle camps quickly. The two-part swing and slam deal a lot of damage, helping you farm faster and deal poke in skirmishes.
2. Max E (Permafrost) – Max E second to lower its cooldown and increase its stun duration. Permafrost is crucial for ganking and teamfighting, as it allows you to lock down enemies after applying 4 Frost stacks.
3. Max Q (Arctic Assault) – Q is used for mobility and engaging or disengaging from fights. Max this last, as its utility is great even at rank 1.
4. R (Glacial Prison) – Always level your ultimate whenever possible at levels 6, 11, and 16. Glacial Prison is Sejuani’s signature ability for initiating teamfights, as it can stun multiple enemies at long range and turn fights in your favor.
Jungle Pathing & Early Game Strategy
Sejuani’s early game jungle path focuses on efficient clears and early gank potential. Start with W - Winter’s Wrath for better AOE damage.
1. Red Buff Start – Begin at Red Buff with a leash from your bot lane or top lane, and then move to your Krugs and Raptors for an efficient AOE clear.
2. Blue Buff – After clearing Red side, rotate to Blue Buff, followed by Wolves. This puts you in a position to gank mid or bot lane early.
3. Scuttle Control – Secure the Scuttle Crab for vision and gold. Sejuani can easily contest Scuttle if the enemy jungler shows up, as her CC and early dueling potential are strong.
Look for early ganks after level 3. Sejuani’s Q allows her to gap close, and combined with E (Permafrost), you can lock down enemies in lane for easy kills.
Teamfight Strategy & Positioning
As Sejuani, your role in teamfights is to be the frontliner and engage for your team. Look for opportunities to use R (Glacial Prison) to initiate fights by stunning key targets, such as the enemy ADC or mid-laner.
- Position yourself in front of your carries to soak up damage.
- Engage with Q (Arctic Assault) and follow up with W for damage.
- Look to proc E (Permafrost) as soon as possible to stun key targets.
- Use R (Glacial Prison) to disrupt the enemy backline or to peel for your carries if they are being dived on.
Matchups & Threats
Sejuani has good matchups against champions who rely on auto-attacks or have low mobility. However, she struggles against champions with high mobility or ranged poke.
