[26.2] VOLIBEAR TOP GUIDE

By Azzin
ABOUT ME
Online I go by Azzinoth, and I am currently grinding my way to Grandmaster. My peak so far is Master 400 LP, and I recently reached Rank 8 Volibear, aiming for the very top.

I have a very aggressive playstyle, loving to dominate my lane and impose pressure from early on. My focus is on Volibear Toplane, but I also enjoy playing other strong top lane champions like Renekton, Zaahen, Garen, and Mordekaiser.

I primarily play on my main account, so you can see my actual gameplay there. I also stream regularly at https://www.twitch.tv/azzinth, sharing my thought process, tips, and decision-making live for anyone who wants to improve their game.

EARLY GAME
First, assess if you can take the level 1 push.
If yes:
- Start slowpushing wave 1, if enemy contest you can often force the push with your passiv : The Relentless Storm.
- Move into aggression on the level 2 transition (first melee creep of wave 2).
- If the enemy is low HP: potential Flash combo / dive to kill them on the crash of wave 3.

If no:
- Chill and farm with Sky Splitter ( E).
- Respect enemy minions and wait for a positive wave (after the enemy wave crashes, on the bounce).

For your combo, aim to do:
Thundering Smash (Get the Q moovespeed) -> Sky Splitter ( E) -> AA(Proc the Q stun) -> Frenzied Maul ( W) -> AA

- If you can proc Frenzied Maul ( W) before the combo, perfect — the next hit will deal extra damage.
- Goal: secure the combo → guaranteed win trade.

After a kill -> Crash wave -> Wait for bounce -> Freeze with items advantage (may have to intentionally loose some cs to avoid breaking freeze with The Relentless Storm) -> repeat
MID GAME
Mid Game revolves around applying pressure and taking as much as you can with your lead, without giving your shutdown.

- Aim to get the first tower, which helps secure Feats of Strength.

If you can dive the opponent safely:
- Pressure the Tier 2 tower and take it as soon as possible.

If diving is not safe:
- Take lane priority and roam:
- Roam mid and take tower.
- Invade the enemy jungler.
- Roam mid, then take priority, then run bot and force fights.

The principle is simple:
- If you can force a play on your opponent → kill them and take their tower.
- Otherwise, use the “bulldozer” method → push the lane, then move to take whatever you can on the map with the number advantage.

Objective setup:
- If Teleport is up → split the opposite side of the objective, push your lane beforehand, then TP to assist your team.
- If Teleport is down → push as far as possible 1 minute before the objective spawns, then reset and go for the objective, or split on the same side as the objective.

- Always maintain wave control and map pressure to maximize kill/tower/priority opportunities.
LATE GAME
Late Game is where Volibear naturally falls off, so your focus must shift to identifying your win conditions and playing decisively.

- Assess your team: if your ADC or another carry is fed, your primary role may be to peel for them in fights.
- Every play matters significantly in late game — one good decisive play can instantly win the game, but one bad play can instantly lose it.

Be decisive and creative:
- Flash on an exposed carry when the opportunity arises.
- Trap enemies in bushes for picks.
- Use R ( Stormbringer) and Q ( Thundering Smash) combos to initiate or disrupt fights.
- Always communicate with your team and commit fully once you decide to engage.

Remember: in the late game, creativity > everything.
- Think one step ahead of your opponents.
- Look for picks, map pressure, and objective setups.
- Protect your carries if you cannot find a safe initiation — your value is in enabling your team as much as in directly dealing damage.
