This top lane Rengar build may start off a little weak but once you start getting into the crit you will pick up a lot. try to play defensive until you see a nice opening to secure a kill and abuse the **** out of Rengars bush hops. once you get into the roaming phase of the game make sure to take advantage of the enemy adc or any other squishy members to capitalize on your stack gains. every stack bonus can be considered an entirely new item so dont disregard the bonetooths usefulness. I choose heal for this build because of its general usefulness but also because its small speed boost can help you secure kills no matter how small it is. ignite is needed for finishing off low health champions and securing kills.

Starting off with the basic dorans/health pot start helps with early game play. bloodthirster is my preferred life steal item because it gives the most out of all of them and that is really the only thing you want from this item other than the ad. the shield is a nice bonus but only really gets used in 2v1s or team fights. I take youmuus second for the early game armor pen but more importantly the early crit. the active on youmuus is also one of the best for rengar because you can use it for chasing/escapes but also in your ult. phantom dancer is a very large part of this build as it gives you a lot of aspects needed for quick kills. the attack speed is very good on rengar because especially with this build you can dish out multiple 700+ crits within a few seconds. the crit is obvious but the ability to move through units is another very good passive as it lets you run straight through any units in between you and your target. infinity edge is self explanatory as it just gives a major boost to damage output but your last item can change varying on the situation. dont be afraid to invest in mercurial scimitar if your facing someone with a strong cc like morgana or nasus. any other items you may see fit to use is up to you.

one of the large downfalls to Rengar is how easy he can be to counter. anyone with an ability that blocks auto attacks such as pantheons passive can completely negate a huge portion of rengars damage. if your going up against a counter like that just swap from an aggresive stance to a more defensive one, rengar is easily able to take cs from the tower to dont be afraid to just turret camp. your ult also lets you get into fights if your lane is being ganked by your team. just remember to keep track of your ferocity and make proper use of the bonuses, the heal is one of the best you have as it gives you infinite (but a little slow) health sustain in lane, and now that the bola is a skill shot you can get ferocity stacks from a safe distance. the ferocity bonus on the bola can be extremely useful for chasing or running away as it completely snares whoever it hits. but you will be using the ferocity enhanced Q the most as it does a large portion of your damage.
