Introduction

Hello, my name is Fipple and I am a Diamond level Veigar main. Hopefully this guide helps you get an understanding of the champion as well as explore his playstyles and unique traits. :)

Runes

For Veigar, the runes listed in the build above are generic runes you can run in any matchup. Into AD matchups, I prefer to replace the HP yellows with Armor per lvl. Into an AP matchup, I prefer to replace the CDR blues with flat MR blues. If you only have a generic AP page, however, the runes listed in the build above will be perfectly fine.

Skill Sequence

Maxing Q on Veigar is a must, especially now that his Q grants AP on assists as well as kills. Max E second for the utility and W last since it has high base damage at rank 1. Putting a point into your ult every level you can is crucial as well.

Spells

Flash will always be taken on Veigar, but for your offensive summoner you have a few options. I prefer ghost into most matchups for mobility, but if they have a late game scaling mid you can go teleport to match their scaling. Take cleanse into matchups with CC, such as Ahri or Annie. Take Barrier into DOT heavy matchups like Swain.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
-Late game damage is absurd
-Major utility with a five man stun
-Relatively safe laning with a long range q
-Can easily set up ganks for jungler

Cons:
-Very reliant on the late game
-Very susceptible to ganks
-If set behind, takes a while to get back into the game
-Ult reliant on an AP matchup

Farming

During the laning phase, solely focus on last hitting with your Q to start getting your Q stacks. Unless your jungler is ganking DO NOT try to engage on any matchup. Stall until the mid/late game for full effectiveness of the champ and do everything you can to not be set behind early. You should aim for 100 stacks on your Q at 14 minutes and 200 at 30 minutes. It is quite easy to get more than that since you can hit 2 targets with your Q but those numbers are the ideal scenario.

Team Work

During the mid game, look for roams bot or top. Having an upgraded warding totem helps a lot in roams and can set up paths so you can see if anyone is following you. When you have 3-5 points in your E, look to group as your utility spike is one of the best in the game. Focus on killing their AP carry until late game. In the late game, focus on killing whichever carry is ahead.

Combos

Standard harass in lane combo: E->W->Q->AA

Mid/Late game combo: E->W->R->Q->AA
