[10.18] Lao's Vladimir - Kneel before Vlad

By laoshin3v3

Hello there!

My name is Lao Shin, I'm 19 Years old and I'm a high elo Toplane Main.

I've played League of Legends since season 1, and have mained toplane since season 2. My second best role is midlane. Ever since season 3 I've been high Diamond and peaked Challenger multiple season's. League of Legends has always been my main game, the most fun part of the game is never learning out, there is always something new.

Since I play i always loved Champions without any resource costs like mana or energy, Vladimir is my best Midlane and AP Toplane pick, and i hope he gets ur best too!

Vladimir has incredible lane sustain, can oneshot with a lot of different combo's, has godlike lategame scaling and is one of the most fun champions to practice and play.

He has a lot of Pro's and very few Cons, is easy to learn but hard to master. One of the point's i like to play him, is because in the current meta u can almost play him everywhere. No matter if u are Toplane/Midlane or even Adc u can pick Vladimir anc single handedly decide the game in your favor.

If u want to play a high burst and high sustain midlaner that hard engages in the backline of the enemys, but also is a very save pick. Then Vladimir is for you.

PROS

+Godlike Scaling

+High Sustain

+Doublekill Potential when getting ganked

+High Carry Potential

+Insane Combo Burst
CONS

-High Skill Cap

-Highly depends on his W

-Lack of Mobility

-Vulnerable to CC

Q: Transfusion

ACTIVE: After a 0.25-second delay Vladimir drains the lifeforce of the target enemy, dealing magic damage and healing himself.

Each cast of Transfusion generates a stack of Bloodthirst over its cooldown, which is displayed in his secondary resource bar. At 2 stacks, Vladimir gains Crimson Rush for 2.5 seconds and 10% bonus movement speed for 0.5 seconds.

CRIMSON RUSH: Transfusion deals 85% increased damage and heals for an additional 30 - 200 (based on level) (+ 5% (+ 4% per 100 AP) missing health), reduced to 35% against minions.

W: Sanguine Pool

ACTIVE: Vladimir sinks into a pool of blood, gaining 37.5% bonus movement speed which decays exponentially over 1 second and becoming untargetable and intangible for 2 seconds.

Enemies who stand upon the pool are slowed by 40% and dealt magic damage every half second, while Vladimir heals himself for 15% of the damage dealt.

E: Tides of Blood

FIRST CAST: Vladimir charges for up to 1.5 seconds, Slow icon slowing himself by 20% over the last 0.5 seconds. If Vladimir finishes charging or is Silence icon interrupted, he automatically initiates the second cast.

SECOND CAST: Vladimir unleashes a nova of blood bolts, each of which collide with the first enemy they hit, dealing them magic damage that is increased the longer Tides of Blood was charged, up to the first second.

If Tides of Blood was charged for at least 1 second, affected enemies are also Slow icon slowed for 0.5 seconds.

Enemies can intercept multiple bolts, but can only be damaged once. Minions can each absorb up to 5 bolts, and damage nearby unaffected minions if hit.

R: Hemoplague

ACTIVE: Vladimir infects all enemies in the target area with a virulent plague, increasing the damage they take from all sources by 10% for 4 seconds, after which all infected enemies take magic damage.

Vladimir is healed for every champion damaged by the detonation, reduced to 50% after the first.

Flash is ur most important spell, a teamfight with it can be game deciding and a teamfight without it can be the game losing. Never waste it for a solokill except in the early game. Midgame/Lategame u have to be extra defensive except if u are very fed, because u don't want to get catched and have to waste ur flash.

Ignite enables u some games to snowball out of controll and it's heal reduction and that's a pretty huge thing right now in the meta. In some matchups Ignite is exactly that little gap between the enemy surviving with 50Hp and the enemy being dead.

Sorcery & Inspiration

Phase Rush is great for engaging or disengaging, you can survive ganks or close the gap to the enemy team and make great plays with it. Always look out for its cooldown and don't waste it in scenarios which could cost you your life.

Nimbus Cloak got buffed the **** out of. Combined with the Ghost changes it's even better. Especially for a champion like vladimir.

Transcendence gives you extra cooldown reduction which is extremly important for vladimir. You can easier survive and easier stack up your Q to flash into enemy team and full combo them

Gathering Storm allows you to scale even more. Vladimir is already an unstoppable lategame beast. This just makes it even better.

Magical Footwear gives you free boots that are even faster than normal ones. Also allowes you to get powerspikes faster since u spare some gold.

Cosmic Insight more cooldown reduction is especially useful for Ghost and Flash cooldown!

You always want to start with Dark Seal and Refillable Potion because it synergizes very well. You always want to snowball very hard, and Dark Seal enables you to do so. If u manage to get 10 Stacks on it u can always watch out to upgrade it into Mejai's Soulstealer It's high risk high reward.

Enemys will always build magic ressist against you, to counter that u build magic pen. Sorcerer's Shoes is the cheapest magic pen Item existing in the game u always want to grab them as fast as possible after u got some AP. Other choices for boots are Mercury's Treads against hard CC or simply Zoe. Some people like to build Ionian Boots of Lucidity but i wouldn't recommend it.

A few patches ago i really liked the item, but it got nerfed quiet a bit since then i don't think it's that gold efficient anymore. If u need the movementspeed because u can't reach the enemy carry u can get it otherwise simply buying Hextech Rocketbelt or none of them is better.

Great early game item + u can use it while u are in your Sanguine Pool. Similar like Shurelya's Battlesong it's only good if u can't reach the enemy carry u want to oneshot.

In many matchups it's such a important factor to get this item, you can use your full combo use Zhonya's Hourglass and even if u are still in the effect your ult heals you. If the teamfight is not already over after u did this u can either reposition yourself with your Sanguine Pool or damage the enemys again because u have your cooldowns up again.

Spellbinder is a great item if some champs that spam spells really hard are in the game. It gives a lot of AP and Movementspeed even if u don't use the active so thats great. But i only get this if i don't need the extra magic pen of Morellonomicon or Void Staff.

If u have some enemys that always escape or you simply need that extra HP you can always grab this item. But raw AP for more damage is better in most situations.

You roam a lot or enemys have a Twitch, Evelynn or Rengar? With this item you and your team are always aware where they are. Most people see this as a support item, even tho it isn't. It gives 70AP 10% CDR and 7% Movementspeed, the perfect stats for vladimir.

With Vladimir the longer the fight goes the stronger u get and with Liandry's Torment you spike even harder. With this item the enemys burn after u attacked them. Also it's great against enemys that stack HP because u deal 1% of their maximum health per second.

Get this item every game. With this item it doesnt matter if the enemys stack Magic Ressist u will always burst them a lot.

If u still need magic pen after u bought Void Staff because your team is full ap, or the enemys have a lot of heal like Soraka or Dr. Mundo then Morellonomicon is a great Item, i almost get it every game because u can always need some extra magic pen.

The best AP item there is. With simply rushing Rabadon's Deathcap and having a decently stacked Dark Seal even a Mejai's Soulstealer you have very early in the game like 300-400 AP. Now you can oneshot every squishy target.

What's Important?

Everyone should try to create a own playstyle, enemys won't expect something they have never seen. Try to find what works best for urself.

Early Game

The lanephase highly depends on the matchup. In some matchup's you can snowball out of controll and in some matchup's you just farm up and try to outscale the enemy, no matter if it's a hard or easy matchup u always want to have perfect CS, if u struggle with that try to improve it on custom games it's your main gold income. If u get ganked and you are lvl6 a lot of times u can kill them both, if the enemy jungler is a squishy champ or underleveld. If u manage to actually kill them both the game is almost yours.

Mid Game

This is the time where u already should have bought your Sorcerer's Shoes in combination with your Rabadon's Deathcap and Dark Seal or Mejai's Soulstealer. Now u can oneshot everyone who is squishy. Try to roam so your toplaner or botlane gets far ahead and u can easily stomp the game.

Late Game

This is where you want to get a huge teamfight engage with ur flash combo and finish the game. Never overextend or farm "one more wave" it can cost u the Flash, and create a much worse teamfight for u. Always communitcate with ur team, simply pinging how much CD is left on your Flash can change everything. Don't split, except if u have TP when u are Toplaner.

Vladimir's job in a teamfight is getting the backline, like a Adc or Midlaner. They are squishy and u can oneshot them easily. U can hold ur E then Flash use R and then ur E will immediately go off. After that use Q on the most important target u want to instakill. This will almost kill everyone who gets hit by it except the person has stacked a huge amount of magic ressist. Afterwards u can use W and reposition urself.

Vladimir can do a lot of great combo's some poeple don't even know about. You can surprise the enemy with it so fast that he can't even react to some of these. I would suggest u to hop into the Sandbox mode and master them all, it makes the difference between a good vladimir and a vladimir god.

Shoutout to Michael Hopko for making this great Combo Video!

Vladimir is a high skill cap champion that's also playable when u aren't that experienced, but u can see a huge difference between a experienced Vladimir player and a new one. It may take a lot of practice and time to master him but it's worth it. Also u learn by playing more and Vladimir is a lot of fun to play.
