Start E lvl 1. If he tries to push by red carding your caster minions, dash up to his face and chunk him down. Do not be scared of poke as you have your shield and bone plating. With proper vision, you are looking to play as aggressive as possible and try get a kill in laning phase. At 6 you want to shove in his lane when he has ult up, and ward the sides to limit his roaming. You can use windwall to stop his waveclear, unless you have a good all-in opportunity.
Lux
Really easy matchup. You can block everything except for the ult with your wind wall. Make sure to dodge her snare, and there is nothing she can do when you all-in her.
Aurelion Sol
Play aggressive! Aurelion will not be trying to fight you in laning phase. He will be looking to shove in the wave fast with his W:Celestial Expansion and roam. Asol is very hard countered by mobile champs, so you have a advantage in this lane. Remember that he cannot activate Q:Starsurge immediately if you are in melee range, as it has a minimum travel distance. And his W:Celestial Expansion gets canceled if he gets hit by CC. Your job here is to shut him down in lane, so he can't roam and impact other lanes.
Ahri
Your windwall blocks all her damage, but you want to keep it for her charm. This is a really easy matchup for Yasuo. I take ignite in this matchup so i can burst her before she escapes with her ultimate.
Anivia
Really easy matchup pre-6. You can windwall both her Q and E. Play smart-agressive and punish her whenever she tries to last hit a creep. If she plays too safe, you can shove her in. Anivia before lvl 6 is really bad at cs'ing under tower. You can use wind wall to deny her the cannon minion. Be sure you are not getting ganked when you do this. After lvl 6 you can't interact with her as she just shoves in the waves over and over. At this point, going sidelane vs her is your best shot as you have more space to work with.
Kassadin
You will be looking to poke as much as possible with Q lvl 1. Punish him for every cs he tries to get. If he throws Q at you, make sure to zone him from CS. The matchup will not be as easy if he decides to max E which gets charged super fast from your constant spamming of abilities, and it also can't be blocked by your windwall. Kassadin players usually take TP, which gives you an advantage in 1v1 as we have ignite.
Zoe
Zoe is very weak against mobile champions. You can control this lane easily if you wind wall her sleep bubble. If her E is on CD, she can't do anything to you and is forced to play defensive.
Vladimir
Ignite and start E. He has long cooldowns until he gets some cdr. Just go ham in lane and play agressive when you have vision. He has no way to respond to your damage output with his CD's. He needs to scale before he becomes a threat, so this lane is in your favor if played correct.
Vel'Koz
All his abilities are skillshots, making him really weak against mobile champions like Yasuo. You can use windwall to block Q,W and E but NOTnot the ultimate. If he makes the mistake of walking too far up, dash onto him and play as aggro as possible because you have the advantage in a minion wave. In the later stages of the game you should pressure in the sidelane because he won't be able to match you/run away.
Heimerdinger
The only way he can get a lead is if he gets to stack 3 turrets and push super fast. We can cheese him(before minions spawn) by waiting in a brush while he's stacking turrets and then take them down. Keep taking his turrets down when he's spawning them, and you will have no trouble in this matchup. Your windwall can block ALL his damage.
Cassiopeia
Dodge her Q with your dash and look to harass her whenever possible, until you can all-in or force her porting back. She cannot fight back if you have your windwall up, so use it to your advantage. Be careful of her W, if you stand on it, you will have 0 mobility in teamfights, as you can't flash or dash. Her ult is very predictable(Unless she R+Flash), so always be ready to turn away from her, so she doesn't land a free stun.
Katarina
She plays very passive at lvl 1, farming safely with Q. If she uses Q to harass you, just zone her from CS. Try to harass as much as possible with your [[Steel Tempest]] at early levels. When she gets lvl 3, she can all in you. You can predict where her daggers will land, so move away from it before she can [[Shunpo]] to them. You have a huge advantage if you both fight in a minion wave, as you can dash around and dodge most of her abilities. When she hits 6 and ults, you want to [[Wind wall]] and then [[Sweeping Blade]] through her, so the wall blocks out most of the damage. **When** you are going for the tornado, wait using it and bait out her E, or beyblade her.
Irelia
This matchup is not as hard as it was before her rework, since we can now [[Wind wall]] her [[Flawless Duet]] and [[Vanguard's Edge]]. Will be updated once i have played some games against her.
Taliyah
Don't dash through her E. You can start playing aggressive if she uses E+W to push in the wave.
Syndra
You can go aggressive whenever her E:Scatter the weak is on CD, because this is the only way she can reliably land her spells on you. Without it she won't be able to keep up with your mobility. Pre-level 6 you can use your wind wall to dodge her E:scatter the weak. Most of her abilities can be dodged with Sweeping blade. After lvl 6 do not use Wind wall to block her Scatter the weak, when her ultimate is up. She gets a huge damage spike when she hits 6, so you always want to save your wind wall for her ultimate.
Annie
Rush hexdrinker and mercs. Even if you windwall her Q, her stun passive will still be up, which is kind of stupid imo. She will look to take down your shield whenever it's up, with her long ranged autos. You can kill her before 6 by playing around her passive. Try freeze the wave close to your tower, and look for a good engage opportunity when you know enemy jungler/support is not near. Left click her champ, so you always have her stats bar up on the side(let's you see how close she is to having stun passive up)
Ekko
Skill matchup. He will be trying to Q spam your minion wave lvl 1 in order to shove it in, and get safe CS. This makes it hard to harass him with Q, so you can try push the wave as fast as you can. If you are experienced in this matchup, you will have a feeling of when ekko will use his Q(Or when he decides to animation cancel it) on you. If you manage to dodge it, you can fight him(GO HAM)! Just be aware when he goes out of vision, as most Ekko players will be looking to land a W(stun) on you.
Viktor
Viktor should always be able to bully you out pre 6. Start Q and farm safely and avoid taking too much damage from his Q. Take trades when his CD's are down and windwall the E. You can all in him at lvl 6, or wait for jungler gank pre 6.
Azir
Hard matchup, he can shove you in as much as he wants. His only way of repositioning his soldiers is with Q. The moment he waste his Q, you want to dash in and punish him. That is the only window you got in this matchup.
Darius
Conquerer is such a huge buff on Darius, and it made a lot harder for us. The key to winning this matchup is not being a pussy. You want to go in for short trades and back out - make sure he DOES NOT hit you with the outer Q. It becomes way harder when he gets level 6. Good item path is PD -> Ninja Tabi -> Frozen mallet. We get frozen mallet early so we can poke and kite until he's low enough for us to all-in.
Malzahar
In this matchup you want QSS early. Malzahar is very good at setting up free kills with his ultimate, so i suggest finishing your Zeal or Phantom Dancer and then rush a QSS.
Orianna
You want to wait choosing your first ability until you know what she started. If she started her shield, you want to start Q and shove her in. If she started Q and plays agressive, you can start E and go for early trades. This is a skill matchup that favors Orianna in the early laning phase.
Kayle
She always shoves in the wave. You want to play passive when her E: Righteous Fury is up, and go ALL-IN when it's going on cd. Be sure to click on her champ, so you can her stats, and see when her E will go on CD. Ask jungler for help if you are shoved in and unable to do anything.
Akali
To win this matchup, you want to play as agressive as possible BEFORE she gets lvl 6. Poke her whenever you can with Q early levels, and hopefully you can secure a big enough cs lead, or a kill to set her behind. Her damage after 6 is too much for you, so you have to respect it and play it safe, unless you secured a lead pre 6. You can fight her after 6 with exhaust, therefore we take it in this matchup as her burst is ridiculous for a squishy champion like Yasuo. Hexdrinker is a must vs akali.
Fizz
Take exhaust. Start Q lvl 1 and look to poke him as much as possible when he goes in for every CS. Pre 6 you are looking to take short trades, without letting him hit E. Dash through minions, and do not take trades that lets him proc his empowered W. You want a hexdrinker ASAP, because he can oneshot you with ignite once his ult is up. You can windwall the fish,, but a good fizz will always animation cancel the R with his Q at very close range, making it almost impossible to dodge the ult.
Talon
Take exhaust. He has insane burst lvl 2-3, so don't get poked. You want to bait out his W(Remember the hitbox gets bigger when the daggers are returning), then you can go in for quick trades with your [[bone plating]]
Ryze
Let him shove in lvl 1. You have a window to all in at lvl 2. From lvl 3 the lane becomes super hard. His kit is really strong against short ranged champions, so we want to let him push and be safe close to our tower. Ask for jungle help or wait for mistakes.
Jayce
There is not much to do against a skilled jayce. Taking dorans shield and [[resolve]] secondary is good here. He has ranged poke to make sure your shield is always down. He will E you in hammer form to stop your dash onto him and follow up with his burst. You are looking to safely farm with Q and take as little poke as possible. Try have your jungler helping, and play passive until you outscale, or he makes a mistake you can capitalize on.
Renekton
He will just destroy you in lane. Farm safely with Q and let him shove in the wave. If he goes in for a combo and chunks you, be sure to return some damage as his cooldowns are pretty high. Stay far away if he has his redbar stacked, your HP will be gone in no time. IF you are low HP and getting pushed into your tower... BASE. You will most likely get dived by him+jungler.
Pantheon
If you are against a pantheon that knows how to abuse the lane, there is absolutely no way to win in the laning phase. You can start cloth armor + pots OR Dorans shield+pot and hope to survive the laning phase with jungle help. You do not want to trade half your hp to get some few cs. Early levels it is important not losing EXP, so it is OK missing out on few cs, as long as you get the EXP! If you get poked too much, he will go for the all-in kill or dive with his jungler, and your game is over. Be sure to stay healthy, and recall if you think he might dive you!
