Introduction
Hello guys! I'm Daniel known in game as Hezuu, League of Legend player since the beggining of Season II and this is my Jungling Ekko Guide. I'm an EUW D2-D1 level player. On EUNE I've peaked Challenger in Season VI. This is my first guide and it took me a lot of time to make it. I would appreciate any and all feedback that you guys may provide. I hope you guys like it! |
The main reason I can play Ekko jungle is buff that he got in Patch 8.2. It helps him to clear jungle faster on early levels. In combination with Hunter's Machete Attack Speed buff he can clear camps as fast as other meta junglers. Also he is very enjoyable to play. ☺
Pros
+ Extreamly Swift (because of Fleet Footwork, Stalker's Blade and Z-Drive Resonance) + A lot of escapes ( Hextech Rocketbelt, Phase Dive, Chronobreak) + Long stun duration + High burst + Great scalling to late game + Pretty good jungle clear The biggest difference between a good Ekko player and a bad one is looking at the shadow. You should not use your Chronobreak, if you don't see your shadow. It may cost you your life. |
Cons
- Squishy - Depends on his Chronobreak - Need to land Parallel Convergence - CC counter him - Quite hard to gank long lanes - Pretty bad in 1v1 fights Another difference is dodging skillshots with Ekko's huge movement speed buffs. Advanced Ekko player can dodge almost everything just by moving! He can't duel with Kha'Zix, Rengar and other early game champions. Best way is to avoid them or fight 2v2 or 3v3. |
You want to max out Timewinder because it is our main damage dealer. Then Phase Dive to maximize your damage. |
Why start with Parallel Convergence?
You always need a leash from laners. Start casting your Parallel Convergence at 1:28 and instantly stun the buff as it shows up. Parallel Convergence is a better choice because you will avoid some damage and get bonus damage based on missing health to enemies under 30% maximum health, while Timewinder offers you only a small amount of damage.
- Fleet Footwork: The main reason you take Fleet Footwork is +18% AS buff from secondary tree. Press the Attack and Lethal Tempo are very bad on Ekko. The main combo you are going to use is Phase Dive, Timewinder and autoattack. It gives only 2 stacks on Press the Attack rune.
- Triumph: It is good for assasins and champions who like to kill. The other two are just bad.
- Legend: Alacrity: You don't need lifesteal and tenacity so you take this one.
- Coup de Grace: It gives you more damage than the other two runes.
- Perfect Timing: Extreamly good item on Ekko. You are going to buy Zhonya's Hourglass so you don't even need to sell it. Remember that after using this you won't heal that much from your ultimate (because you don't take any damage).
- Magical Footwear: With every kill or assist you get boots 30s sooner. It gives you free boots which cost 300g and then you can upgrade your boots cheaper by 50g.
Why not Electrocute?
With Electrocute you don't get +18% AS buff from secondary tree. Your clear is very slow and you lose a lot of HP when doing jungle camps.
Why not Celerity and The Ultimate Hat?
In actual Stopwatch meta it is necessary to have one. You can dive at lvl 6 and have free boots. It speeds up your build because you have free 950 gold (600g from Perfect Timing and 350g from Magical Footwear).
We want this item for the Magic Penetration it provides, so that we deal extreme damage with our abilities. Ionian Boots of Lucidity gives you only 10% CDR. Magic Penetration is much more important for you because you want to oneshot people. |
This is basic jungling item. You can consider buying Tracker's Knife if you play against champion who wants to counter-jungle all the time. |
Bonus damage from Hextech Revolver works good with Phase Dive. Hextech Rocketbelt can help you with activating Parallel Convergence if you are not in range. |
It gives a lot of power spike. Your Phase Dive with Lich Bane has a lot of damage. Also +10% CDR is good on Ekko. |
Since you have Stopwatch Zhonya's Hourglass is 600g cheaper for you. It combine properly with Parallel Convergence (remember that it activates even on Zhonya's Hourglass effect). |
It gives 120 flat AP. If enemies don't have much Magic Resist this item gives you the highest damage. |
More Magic Penetration = More Damage. If you buy both Void Staff and Liandry's Torment you can beat even tanks. Buy it against championis who stack HP (like Cho'Gath or Sejuani). |
Great item against a lot of Magic Resist in the enemy team. |
The passive shield is strong if enemies have pick composition. Also it gives you Cooldown Reduction. |
You always want to start buying items with Fiendish Codex or Sheen, because of cooldown reduction it gives ( Hextech Revolver is an exception). If you are going to buy Liandry's Torment, start with Haunting Guise because of Magic Penetration.

You always want to start gank with Parallel Convergence which should be used behind the enemy. Mid lane is the easiest lane to gank because is the shortest. If you want to do instant gank you can Flash + Phase Dive into your Parallel Convergence. Never dive unless you have Chronobreak or Stopwatch. Don't forget to use your high movement speed and Stalker's Blade. |
