Introduction
Taking double Teleport (Rakan and Kalista) allows for both more lane pressure as well as an intimidation factor. Rakan doesn't necessarily need Heal since his [Q] does a small amount of healing, and if Kalista chooses either to start with Doran's Blade or Doran's Shield, that takes away the primary need for a heal on the bot-side as well. Rakan doesn't need Barrier because his passive should be just enough to take the hit. Rakan doesn't need Exhaust either because he can just [R} them and have them follow him towards their spear of doom (Kalista). I would much rather have Teleport on Rakan than say, Ignite or Snowball, due to the fact that I want to keep the playstyle that I've created here.
The Resolve Tree allows for Rakan to make the best of his abilities. Guardian reduces damage that you and your bot-laner take, therefore making it easier to stay in lane longer; Your [W] and [R] impairs the movement of enemy champions, making Font of Life very easy to take effect. Conditioning helps transform Rakan into a well-rounded champ and pairs well with the item's this guide intends for you to build. Unflinching works especially well with Rakan's Ultimate, as there's a solid chance that the enemy champions will want to try to slow him down when he casts it in order to avoid being charmed.
The Sorcery Tree builds upon Rakan's Ultimate ability (as it is movement speed based). Nimbus Cloak enhances the boost given during Rakan's ultimate, and Celerity takes advantage of the bonus movement speed that is built and gained in this build.

Starting Items:
1. Spellthief's Edge is your first item (that will be sold mid to late game to make room for a more forward build). This allows for a touch of extra lane pressure[/color] to help Kalista farm more efficiently.
2. 2 health potions takes up the remainder of your starting gold, and will help you sustain your health bar longer.
3. Warding Totem is vital (for obvious reasons). Always ward up!
First Back:
1. In most cases, you will probably be building Shurelya's Reverie. This gives you a little extra Ability Power as well as a little bit of movement speed. Your first back should be when you have at least 1150 gold so you can purchase Boots of Speed as well as one or both of the sub-items to build into Shurelya's Reverie.
Second Back
1. Finish up Shurelya's Reverie and (if you have the gold) finish up your boots. Your boots will most likely be Boots of Mobility in most cases.
Remaining Core Items:
Your remaining Core will be 3 or 4 items (if 4, this means you're getting rid of Spelltheif's Edge mid or late game to make room for something stronger). Please refer to the example builds above if you're looking for a particular playstyle.

ALWAYS get your [W] first. Usually, most Rakan players go with their [Q] and max that out first to give a better poke, but what I'm saying is to get your knock-up move first to shock them with a "Oh, hey, you're in the air now taking damage, HAH!"
Max out your [W] Grand Entrance, as soon as you can (unless you can max your [R] first, but besides your ultimate ability, Max out your [W] as your secondary priority besides your primary priority (ultimate). Max your [E] before your [Q], but only after you get your [Q] at level 2 to have it. You want a quick poke, which is why (in this build) building your [W] and [R] combined with your first 2 Core Items gives you a quick entrance/initiation and a quicker exit. Poke with your [W], go back to your ranged Kalista with your [E] and go back in with your Ultimate [R]. Your [Q] in this build, is best used for small heals when needed early game to keep both yourself and your bot-lane Kalista in lane and pushing as long as possible.

Rakan and Kalista work surprisingly well together:
(Make sure Kalista uses The Black Spear on Rakan)
If both Rakan and Kalista have their Ultimate [R] ready, Kalista can grab Rakan, and Rakan can propell himself outward (using Kalista's Ultimate, cast his Ultimate, and charm a heck of a lot of people.
Rakan's Knock-Up [W] allows for Kalista to have time to [Q], [E] and do a massive poke.
