Introduction

My name is Midnight, known on YouTube as The Twilight Gamer, and I main Nami Support. I have done multiple games with this set and managed to do well on all of them. Only play in Ranked if you are sure you know what you're doing. Also, this is my first guide so I apologise if I make some mistakes. If they are pointed out, I will try to correct them.

Nami can be a difficult champion to get the hang off as knowing when to heal the ADC or when to use Ebb and Flow to heal and deal damage is difficult but she can be a threat if pulled off correctly... just a very squishy one.

EDIT: Due to the 8.20 patch, Nami's heal has been reduced.

Runes

Guardian is the runestone I go with as it creates a shield around you and your ally if you are close enough to them and they get hit by an attack. This can be from a champion, minion or monster. Personally, I only stick close to the ADC when they're going to be near a champion because I don't like losing Guardian to minion agro. Guardian also takes effect if you heal with Ebb and Flow. The timing for this one is difficult and will require some practice so its recommended to stay beside the ADC and turn auto attack off or the ADC will be very upset you're stealing their farm.

Font of Life will mark champions you've impaired. This works with Tidal Waves slow and Aqua Prisons stun. If an ally kills a marked champion, they will gain some health back which will save you some mana.

Second Wind will help you stay in lane and means you don't have to use your mana to heal yourself and you can heal others and get the assists you need for S rank.

Revitalize means you heal more with Ebb and Flow than you would without it. The heal is increased when the ally is low on health.

Sourcery as a secondary rune set means Nami gains bonus health and AP, which will help late game.

Manaflow Band will not solve the problem of Nami being mana hungry but will increase your mana if you accidentally hit the opponent while trying to heal with Ebb and Flow.

Transcendence can increase Nami's AP so she does more damage in the long run.

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ Good heal
+ Decent stun
+ Basic attack buff
+ Long ranged slow and damage
+ Ultimate activates passive
+ Can deal damage
Nami can be built as a threat as Ebb and Flow increases in power if it bounces off an ally. Since it can bounce up to three times, you can use it to heal an ally or yourself and, if it's in range, it will bounce to an enemy to deal damage to them and the range is longer if you manage to time it right for it to bounce off an ally. Ebb and Flow will not bounce off an ally to an ally or an enemy to an enemy. Tidecaller's Blessing will buff allies next three basic attacks and give them a slow effect. Namis ultimate, Tidal Wave, travels to the enemy and slows depending on the distance it travelled. It also activates Namis passive, Surging Tides which will increase yours and your allies movement speed.

Cons

- Mana hungry
- Squishy
- Low power early game
- Ultimate is easy to avoid
- Buff might not be useful (depends on what champion you buff)
- Needs items to reach potential
In my opinion, Nami is one of the better support champions, however, she needs items to be useful. This means she needs time to set up and since support champions don't farm it will take time. Her buff only works on basic attacks and some champions will only utilise it on minions and Tidal Wave can be easy to dodge. It can be cast from close range but the slow effect is shortened if it is. Nami is a really squishy champion and has low AP early game so staying close to (or behind) the ADC is a good idea early game.

Spells

Flash: Have a dead ADC? Flash out of the situation. Flash will teleport you toward the curser. A lot of champions carry it as a last resort if your going to be killed. For the S rank (and to not be blamed for feeding) you will want as little deaths as possible.

Exhaust: This will slow your opponent and reduce the damage they do. If you or your ADC are against a champion you know you can't handle, you can Exhaust them in an attempt to flee.
Surging Tides is Namis passive. Surging Tides will raise the movement speed of allies when abilities are used on them. The amount of speed gained is 60 plus 20% bonus AP, giving you more excuse to increase your AP. Tidal Wave will double this effect.
Aqua Prison is difficult to get the timing right on as you need to predict the enemies movements. If you can pull it off, the ADC can get in to kill. As well as a stun effect, Aqua Prison deals magic damage and can be used to deal the final blow on champions but the timing is hard to get right.
Ebb and Flow will be the ability which will get you most of your assists in the early game (and maybe a few kills). Do not use it on enemies, concentrate on healing the ADC. Nami is very mana hungry and will drain mana very quickly early game. Conserve your mana by only healing the ADC when you have to. If the ADC gets close enough, you can use Ebb and Flow on the ADC to hit one of the enemy team.
I don't find Tidecaller's Blessing to be too helpful against champions but the slow effect can be useful if your ADC attacks with a basic attack. Another way to make use of Tidecaller's Blessing, is to use it on yourself and hit the opponent with a basic attack to slow them and give the ADC a kill.
When you use Tidal Wave, make sure you're behind allies so if the enemies avoid, your passive will active on your allies at double the effect. It can also stun enemies but it is easy to avoid, depending on if the enemy can see it and if they have a high movement speed.

Team Fights

Supports usually aren't very good in team fights due to low AP and AD, however Nami can deal decent damage depending on the items you've built her with. Use Ebb and Flow to heal allies while dealing damage to enemies and Aqua Prison while the enemies are distracted. Team fights are going to be where most of your assists or kills will come from. This is where Tidecaller's Blessing might come in handy as you can use it on the AD champions or use it on yourself to slow and give melee champions an opportunity to get the kill without using up a Flash or different summoner skill.

Abilities

> > >
Ebb and Flow is to be maxed first. Improving it reduces the cooldown which will help midgame when you have more mana.

Aqua Prison is to be maxed second. Aqua Prison will deal more damage the more its upgraded. With the more you build AP, the more damage you will end up doing.

Tidecaller's Blessing is to be maxed last. Upgrading it increases the slow as well as the bonus magic damage dealt.

Tidal Wave should be upgraded as soon as possible.

Summary

I love playing Nami. I think shes fun to play, if very challenging. If you don't want to stick close to a champion, you can increase your AP to deal more damage.

As mentioned, this is my first guide and constructive criticism is welcome. Upvote if you like the guide and inform me of any mistakes I made.
