DOMINATION

The extra damage that you get from Electrocute early is so crucial in winning an invade or early ganks. Dark Harvest remains a very viable option but would be situational when you need something that scales better into late game. If you don't think your team can end the game before 25 minutes, you may want to consider going with the scaling rune options.

Rengar does a LOT of leaping and stealth so he will benefit greatly from Sudden Impact. On a burst oriented champion like he is, you cannot go wrong with this rune!
You will stack this naturally while you focus on getting your passive fully stacked.
Extra damage never hurts on a champion like Rengar!
All but Ingenious Hunter are viable options for Rengar but let's break down when each one can shine.

For the most part if you are looking to win a fight and have a best chance at escaping, then the healing you get from Ravenous Hunter is the way to go. Relentless Hunter is nice if you want to gank a lot, but many Rengar players don’t do as much early game, and besides later on you have your ult and Mobility Boots and between the two, you will move plenty quickly.
Ultimate Hunter is for if you seriously can’t see yourself ever being able to duel anyone and your only use is to use your ultimate and attempting to one shot the enemy.

Gameplay

EARLY GAME
Invade and Stack Your Passive

Early game Rengar has one main goal. He needs to get some kills early game otherwise he will fall off too quickly mid to late game. The best way to do that is to invade as you can 1v1 most junglers as long as they are alone.

Use bushes to your advantage, at first it is difficult to keep in mind, but try and remember that you can flash into a bush to get the extra auto range and leap on the enemy from the bush.

If your laners have solid CC and can land an ability to keep the enemy in place long enough for you to arrive, you can do a decent amount of burst damage to them.

Try and Lane Gank your top and bot lanes. Meaning you come from behind the tower when enemy doesn't have vision and you position in the bushes so you can leap out and do your full combo.

MID GAME
This is where you shine!

If you even got slightly ahead from the early game, this is the promised lane for Rengar. If you haven't gotten all 5 of your passive stacks, then you need to prioritize this as otherwise you will be under-performing in damage.

Your main goal will be to eliminate the largest enemy threat, more than likely, you can quickly burst them enough to kill them or make them think twice about engaging in a fight. Most of the time this will mean targeting the enemy ADC as often as possible.

Your ultimate Thrill of the Hunt has a relatively short cooldown, use this as often as you can. The only times you may want to save it is if you know you may need the stealth for stealing an objective in the near future.

LATE GAME
Make them fear you

Bursting enemies may become slightly more difficult now if they have Zhonya's Hourglass or Guardian Angel.

Play like an assassin and go after the easy kills and pick off the enemy team one by one. Often this means taking out a support who is coming back from the fountain, or an ADC out on their own, if the enemy is grouped tightly, be patient and let your team engage first.

Vision is key, strategically place wards in their jungle so that you can identify isolated targets, you can probably get in, get the kill, and get out safer than anyone on your team since you can use your ult to escape.

Jungle Pathing
In the Jungle

Blue Side Start with your Red Buff with the help of a bot lane leash. Then move in the following order:

Krugs > Wolves > Blue Buff > Scuttle then either top gank or the Gromp.

From there on you should be able to buy Tiamat and with it you will always be doing a full clear with ganks in between.

Red Side Start by taking your blue buff with a leash from the bot lane. Then move in the following order:

Wolves > Red Buff > Invade enemy blue buff > Scuttle > Krugs

From there on you should be able to buy Tiamat and with it you will always be doing a full clear with ganks in between.

Thank you for taking the time to read my guide, this is my first ever guide written for any video game! I have nearly 1 million mastery points on Rengar and absolutely love this champion. I hope that even Rengar veterans can appreciate this guide and hopefully there were little gems of information that everyone came away with from it. Please check out the notes for the item builds and runes as there is more information tucked away in there. I hope that if there are corrections that I need to make, that people kindly let me know in the comments, and I would be happy to make adjustments!

Over time I hope to add more to the guide to keep it relevant. Eventually I would like to add more matchup specific information, as well as a full breakdown of different runes. I know I change my secondary runes often based on matchup!

If there is anything in particular you would like to see added, please leave a comment! I try to respond to every single comment.

Also, I am not the most artistic person in the world, so if there is anything I can change with the formatting of the guide, please let me know! I would love to make adjustments to make the guide easier to ready. And lemme beat you trolls to the punch, "It would make it easier to read if you just deleted the guide, har har, Kappa", well too bad for you, I don't care about deleting it, just care about improving it and helping more people appreciate the unique playstyle of Rengar!

So once again, thank you so much, if you gleaned anything from the guide, please like the guide and if you have any questions or feedback, feel free to drop a comment!
