As you can see there are two build paths for this quick guide but Skarner holds the same role in both cases that being to chase and peel for the high damaging champions on your team. In a team fight you should defiantly be on the front lines. Skarner is really good at slowing and picking out HVTs for your ADC. His constant crowd control is also good for denying retreats. At level 18 Skarner's W has a low enough cool down that you can practically keep it active and paired with his E and passive enemy champions don't have much of a chance to retreat. 1v1 situations with Skarner are certainly winnable as well. Just keep an eye on you passive stacks and know that you ultimate does significantly more damage to an enemy with 3 stacks of crystal venom.
