Introduction
That is right. That statement will be the most common one that you will hear when you try to do something new. However, whenever those people shows up, gently teach them that not all trolls are bad - some trolls are better then conventional supports. Just like this one.
Prepare yourself to enter the hard path of learning rumble support. I promise you that you will see the light of support carry once you have mastered it!
Pros
1. Unlimited Harassing in lane
2. Easy to respond in ganks
3. Overwhelming teamfights
4. Roaming
5. Super cool Skin
6. Unconventional - your opponent have no idea about this.
-
Cons
1. Unconventional - Your teammate may easily give up.
2. Vulnerable to gank
3. Mid-range game is quite weak.

Nothing to really add from the top part.
For the newcomers, I suggest my old rune for rumble - Which is basically all scaling aromor with quint in normal armor. That is really good for sustain, but has less pokes. Be sure to max Q in this build - Your damage will be pitiful otherwise.

For early phases, spam Q to stack your heat. Be sure to poke your enemy when you are in danger zone; The difference is overwhelming. Once you learn W at level 4, that is your key to keep your heat. W has exactly same cooldown with heat decay. Which means, by pressing W constantly, you can maintain your heat at 50. Stable poking with very high damage.
On engage, Make sure that your Overheat timing is made by you. It means that you should be the one to decide where you need to be overheated and use some bonus damage in basic attack, or wait a while and use more skill. Overheat bonus damage is quite strong in early game, espeically for squishy people like adc. However it also make you vulnerable. Decide wise, do not mess your heat and enter overheat with W. That is the worst situation. Be sure to enter the overheat with Q or E.
Other general heat skill can be found at a lot of top rumble guide. Read it too!

Mid range game and Ganks.
Mid range, which is time period between 18~23min, is the period where you have not finished your rylais yet but you are in teamfight phase. If you and your team is fed, this is not a problem - otherwise, use your ult very, very wisely. Your ult is the only reason you can claim yourself a worthy support during this time period.
...after you get rylai, you can spam Q and E and dance while your opponent dies.
Ganks. Your main goal in game is to put your opponent in turret range and make cs deficit. This job will be performed through your no cost harass of E, and especially at early period. Your danger zone harpoon deals 102 damage at level 2. This means, you deal more damage then Cait's Headshot passive for two times. Be sure to use this advantage and make both of their duo's health drop down 50%. or one of them to 30%. With this condition, you and your adc can win 3v2. Overheat and E with Exhaust will instantly melt their jungler while their bot duo is scared of your damage. Once you get sightstone with haunting guise, the lane is done. you can dance and still kill them at the same time.
