When your playing Aatrox you need to get the mind set that you can lifesteal your way out of a lot of things

You can buy whatever kind of boots you like but generally go with Merc treads. Swiftness boots for more roaming. Berserkers for if you need the attack speed/ dont really need the magic reist or tenacity.

I will generally start cloth and five pots but you can start whatever suits you or your situation.

Next you want to rush blade of the ruined king and also buy tier one boots somewhere in there. Always buy BotRK... Gives everything u need + awesome passive.

Then I generally get tier 2 boots after finishing Blade of the Ruined King. (See Boots)


Then the core is frozen mallet because it gives you the tankyness you really need and also gives you a way to stay with people. You may buy the core in any way you feel per game requirements. Next is the Ravenous Hydra which gives health, more lifesteal, ad, and a awesome aoe passive? HELL YEAH. Next is Bloodthirster which gives you tons of ad and even more lifesteal.

Last Item is the fill slot, which means it really can be whatever you like, I love getting the spirt visage which gives you more healing, magic resist, cd reduction, and some health. If they have more ad then like sunfire cape or Randuins Omen.

Last Sell boots for zephyr and buy pots and orcales.

Basically anone with good ranged harras like teemo, elise, gangplank, pantheon, etc is gonna counter you or anyone with good burst like kassadin, fizz, Akali etc.
You counter anyone who has sustained damage from auto attacks or has to get close to you to do damage like fiora, trydamere, master yi, Rumble(kinda), etc.

This deservers a section all its own because it is a bit difficult to understand. First it scales with level not max hp and whenever you use your q or e you gain blood well. Blood Well gives you free attack speed, 1% attack speed for 2% of blood well full. You want to try to keep that up but not by spaming ur spells insanely, you need to just use like an e and make sure to keep in combat either it be by auto-attacking or taking champion damage. Well dont purposely take champion damage but you know what i mean.

When you want to harras is when you have auto attacked twice, then you activate blood price, q to them, e and auto attack them to proc the extra damage from blood price, then back off with the slow still on them. Then heal from minions from blood thirst.

Passive: Blood Well (see Blood Well)

q: Dark Flight: Basically you fly up and slam down on the target location if you hit them in the center they get knocked up.

w: Blood Thirst/Blood Price: This is the skill that makes Aatrox be able to switch during auto attacks, but you have to decide if you want to do more damage or heal more.

e: Blades of Torment: Fires two lines that end up making a cone, difficult to hit at farther ranges but not to difficult to hit up close.

r: Massacre: Gives you attack speed and a ton of attack range and does a small amout of damage to all enemy champions nearby.

Basically all you do is q on there ad carry, e, then ulti and wreck face. :D

Remember that you will win more games of you care more about having fun then winning. Also if you get tier 3 boots with furor they hit something you will start flying for the duration of the speed boost. Silly little awesome thing!
