Note that I keep the GP/5 as long as possible, in particular the philo stone for the regen.
If you need magic resist for whatever reason, get a or else a simple or at the start of mid game.
Typically I may turn the HoG into a
or else which is very underrated in my opinion. 1500-2500 hp for your team is a great use of your gold.
Hello! My name is Aldafodr (In-game). I don't play many ranked games since I don't have much time and some of the friends I play with aren't as reliable as I would like for teammates.. jk you guys are awesome!
Skarner is a very well balanced jungler. Good clearing speeds, good sustain, strong 1v1 dueler and decent ganks pre lvl6 which become amazing ganks at lvl 6 with his grab.

Pros / Cons

Pros
+ // Fast clear times + // Strong 1v1 duels + // Movement speed self buff + // Consistent damage + // Decent sustain + // |

Cons
- // Very dependent on blue buff for first clear - // low aoe damage - // Weak laning ability - // Slightly complex kit - // Difficult to recover from an early loss |
I usually start with
+ 3x
From there I go typically blue, wolves, wraiths, red, gank bot/mid
(keeping an eye on each lanes hp/mana as well as their cs versus the opponents)
Hopefully this ends in a kill and assists for everyone.
If I have enough gold I will buy some combination of the following
550 gold
philosopher's stone 800 gold
After the first back and getting something from the above, I kill a camp or two and do some ganking where possible.
Second back I aim for getting the other half of the list above.
550 gold
philosopher's stone 800 gold
Third back I get a sheen or heart of gold depending on how well I am doing and what our team comp is. If we need someone tanky or I'm not that fed I'll get the heart, if I am doing well then I'll get sheen for a very impressive damage boost.

At this point it'll be more champs involved than just 2v2 and as such I focus on getting defensive items.
For example I'll typically get something of the following
1110 gold
700 gold
1925
1525
Typically for some unknown reason I do not seem to take much magic damage, probably something to do with the way I position or the type of targets AP mids try to attack. However I do on occassion get a / but not untill AFTER some health is bought.

Early game:
practice using your Q immediately after an auto attack, it is a good habit to establish.
Don't spend too much time farming if your partners are losing their lane, go help them.
Make sure everyone that isn't immediately under tower has their lanes warded properly.
general:
Gank as often as possible, even if it doesn't end in a kill or assist. This will apply pressure to the enemy team, damage the enemy, probably force them to use their summoner ability (flash/ghost), or at the very least give your partner an advantage in lane via health or greater cs farm.
Keep an eye on which lanes are doing well, being pushed, or are pushing.
I like to warn my team as to what I expect the enemy jungle to do. IE they just got blue, and bot is pushed so they'll probably gank bot.
or junglers been gone awhile, bots doing well, but top used their flash and unwarded so they might get ganked.
Dont both typing those out though, just caution ping your teammate then do a line of pings from enemy jungle side towards their lane. or else say "no ward bot, careful"
Control dragon whenever possible. If you get kill enemy adc or jungle, ping bot to come and then ping dragon. However beware of their mid is fed this could swing the other way and give them more kills.

Impaling the enemy doesn't do a lot of damage, but can be crucial to a victory for more than simple initiation. For example, use it on the adc during a fight and it'll negate any potential damage he could output (which is FAR more than you would do in the same time period). Moreover you can drag him towards your teams tank and chain CC him till dead.
Use your W to catch people, yay movement speed.

Give the buffs to your carries!
Don't just run around all willy nilly.
Pick a target at the start of the team fight and GO FOR IT. Positioning is very important for skarner, more so than most junglers imo.
Stay with the group, ward up. Don't go near areas of the map that aren't warded unless EVERYONE is with you.
