rune selection

if you look at the runes there are 3 main ones that are of huge benefit to you.
firstly demolish. with the new buffs and the fact that sion can stack up a pretty obscene amount of hp even without many hp items you will do incredible amounts of damage to turrets if allowed to hit them.

secondly there is ingenious hunter which is the crux of this build. this rune has been both directly and indirectly buffed this patch. the fact that its now more frontloaded and less reliant on stacks for its effect makes active items better earlier in the game but also the cooldown of active items applies to your trinket ward. this is the indirect buff i mentioned. with wards lasting longer but having a bigger cooldown a well placed ward grants alot of vision but if you have more of them available you can get vision on a much bigger area.

that brings us onto the third rune. zombie ward. despite recent nerfs its still fairly good providing extra vision after your ward dies this combo'd with wards lasting longer anyway means you can get alot of vision coverage at all stages of the game.

while not essential to the build second wind is incredibly useful in lane and decently useful later into the game. the regen it provides after taking damage is pretty nice given sions large health pool but in addition to this sion has naturally high hp regen and with a dorans shield it gives an absurd amount of sustain especially against poke and smaller trades

how to play this build laning

for the most part laning should be relatively easy. if you have taken second wind and dorans shield you can for the most part ignore alot of the opponents poke and harass and just farm while using your abilities to harass the opponent. i personally like to take my first point w the shield is fairly sizable does a nice chunk of damage and also allows you to get extra max hp early and at 18hp per wave or 28 for cannon waves i see no reason to not get this stacking asap but its not really essential so take whatever feels best for you 1st.

ranged match-ups. providing you went dorans shield and second wind these shouldn't actually be too bad. if you are facing a teemo rush a spectres and sit on that, with that you regen most of the damage he deals to you as his dot refreshes the duration on second wind, dorans and spectres cowls healing. to put this into perspective. with all of this and he pokes you with one auto down to 90%hp you get 28 hp back from shield 34hp from passive regen 11 from second wind and 51 hp from spectres for a total of 124 healing over that duration. so long as hes not continuously hitting you, you will easily regenerate most of the damage he does to you. additionally maxing e in this situation will allow you to answer ranged poke and safely farm from a distance although this will delay your power which has now been heavily shifted into q.

the main thing is getting tier 2 boots and zzrot after which you move onto phase 2

macro and micro

once you have zzrot and tier 2 boots youre officially ready to be a huge pain in the ***. zzrot allows you to incessantly shove the wave in and damage turrets. if the enemy leaves lane you will do enormous damage to thier turrets via demolish and zzrot and if they remain you can quickly waveclear with your abilities and zzrot and leave zzrot to push the wave while you tp or roam with ult.

when pushing you will have enormous vision coverage thanks to ingenious hunter and zombie ward if you place a pink ward you will have even more this makes hard-pushing actually fairly safe as you can see ganks roams ect coming from a fair distance away and react accordingly. furthermore your ult is an amazing escape tool and by ulting out you can avoid sticky situations most of the time this lets you shove with impunity for the most. part. your pushing potential increases even more after you get a banner of command and cinder hulk and with the enhanced cooldowns of them you can spam them and constantly and safely push lanes and force people to come and deal with you or they lose their turrets and inhibs.
