Kennen is strong fighter who is great in 1v1 and in teamfights. Kennen can be played as toplaner or midlaner but midlaner is prefered since you play most of the time against squishy champions. Kennen is a great pick if you have an Ad midlaner or if you need a AOE ult for your teamfight. Kennen is an underestimated champion. Kennen only has a +/- 5% play rate so don't worry that kennen gets picked/banned

There exists an ancient order originating in the Ionian Isles dedicated to the preservation of balance. Order, chaos, light, darkness -- all things must exist in perfect harmony for such is the way of the universe. This order is known as the Kinkou and it employs a triumvirate of shadow warriors to uphold its causes in the world. Kennen is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Coursing the Sun - tirelessly conveying the justice of the Kinkou.

Kennen was born in Bandle City and it was said that in his first living moments he bolted first from the womb and second from the midwife who delivered him. His parents had thought that he would outgrow his boundless energy, but as he matured his energy found no limits and was matched only by his unnerving speed. Despite his astonishing gifts, he remained unnoticed (or at least uncaught, as he was quite the prankster) until, on a dare, he ran straight up the great outer wall of the Placidium. When word of this feat reached Kinkou ears, Kennen was quickly and quietly brought in for an audience. He found that the role of the Heart of the Tempest suited him, frenetically delivering both the word and the punishments of the Kinkou across the realm. He now works with his fellows Akali and Shen to enforce the balance of Valoran. This hallowed pursuit has unsurprisingly led the triumvirate to the Fields of Justice.

To be honest runes and masteries are often peoples own opinions. I prefer to play kennen as an AP carry midlane bully with high starting ap and low resistance. Some prefer to have more starting resistances or scaling and less starting ap. Play a few games with kennen and try diffrent runes and masteries. Most of the time you make your own rune / masterie page which fits your play style

It doesnt matter in which order you go with this build. Some items are a MUSt and some are usefull in certain situations. Also what counts for runes and masteries counts for player builds. You need to find your prefered build and look at certain situations. Some items work and some don´t work. Here are a few items that will help you.


The most important item of lane bully kennen. This helps you in two ways
1. Helps you recover health after taking some damage from poking the enemy laner
2. If you are losing lane this helps you stay in lane longer



You really need this item in order to win teamfights
You can simply jump in use your ult and activate Zhonya's



If the enemy builds a lot of magic resis, simply build these items to counter that



This item is usefull for jumpy champions and it makes you a little more tanky

Some people say its better to max W first instead of Q. I disagree. Q makes poking easier. Though this makes hitting your Q´s a lot more important. Disengage when you miss your Q in lane or else it will minimize your potentional damage.


W is a great way to deal damage when you have 1 mark of the storms on your enemy. Hit a Q or charged basic attack and follow it up with a W for extra damage. After engaging with your ult use W to stun your enemy for an easy Q hit. Max W as your second ability


E is a great way to engage a fight. Charge in with your E and follow that with ult and zhonya. After getting out of zhonya use W for the extra stun. Max E last since its more for mobility and extra storm stack then for damage


Use your ult to engage fights or use it to join fights later since it stuns most of the champions after 3 hits. Ult + Zhonya gives you a great combo for your team to follow up or for you to clean up without taking damage. Always put a point in your ult when its available
