The changes are so drastic to Maokai I will literally have to either A) redo this entire guide from scratch, or B) Archive it. If I get a 10 people that want me to redo it because they think the guide before the rework was really good, and they comment I will redo it. However if I don't get the 10 redo comments by august 2nd I will archive my guide on Maokai.

hi, the guide is good,but just one thing-i dont think maokai should have recovery instead of unyealding because health regen isn't going to help much in a teamfight

You have a point I take it so I can do a little more early game. If I were to take unyeilding instead of recovery, in a lane matchup where your opponent looks to trade when all of their abilities are off of CD (like darius, how he'll wait for his pull, or nautilus who makes quick trades then backs off) recovery does more because it means I can have more health during the next trade. If some opponents force you back to turret and don't let you step out of turret range then recovery will allow you to regain missing health faster.

Good day! I am fairly motivated to start maining Maokai. However, I can not understand how come on virtually all new guides + probuilds sunfire cape gets rushed as first item instead of rod of ages, where is the logic in this? How come is bami's cinder a better item than catalyst in the beginning? Rod of Ages is, for some reason, not to be found on any Maokai guide anymore... Why? Thanks in advance!

Hey bud sorry for the late reply but I've been really busy with work and stuff. To be completely honest with you bami's cinder is the most broken item for any tank. Why you ask? Because mana in early game yes it is important but the main thing that drains your mana is your ulti, make sure you have good ulti control in that regard, like if you aren't in combat you should stop ulting. rod of ages is there for champs who prosper off of the bonus mana and health and ap, you are building tank, if you need mana get frozen gauntlet, health, welp almost everything gives you health, and the ap you can get from scaling runes, also ROA doesn't give you mana when you lvl up like it used to, they gave that passive to morelloninomicon (or however you spell it). By getting a dorans ring or 2 you should have enough mana regen to get you out of laning phase.

Thanks m8, ill probably start doing the lane matchups after kled gets released. Hopefully that should give people more of an idea on how to play the laning phase
