Introduction

Welcome to my first build! I know some might think of this build as "Whats wrong with this kid?" Now you might be wondering why listen to me? Well I have been playing for a little more then a year now and Cho'Gath is by far my favorite champion. He has great sustain for top, he can stay in lane for 10 minutes before recalling, he has an extremely long silence, a knock up + a slow, his E is a no cost passive that lets you do more damage, and his ultimate does 1000+ true damage! I found that this build works best for me with the high CD reduction to eat as many people as possible!!!

Runes

Cho'Gath is a hybrid between a tank and an AP carry. If you build him with a good amount of AP he can do immense amounts of damage with his Q and R. So that is where the marks, glyph, and quints are from. But to be really hard to kill he needs Armor. He can get a ton of health from his ult but he tends to get focused a lot!!!

Masteries

While the runes main focus is offense, my masteries are all about Defense. With Cho'Gath you can just ignore enemy champions and do what ever is on top of your list, either farming, protecting your ADC, or focusing the enemy ADC. To do that you need to be able to comfortably ignore champions, creeps, and towers!

Items

My items are focused around 3 main Ideas. Mana, Ability Power, and Cool Down Reduction. Most of these items have health and armor in them so its a plus!!! I take Warmogs for the extra health and regen make it really good on cho gath!!!

Skill Sequence

The only time I vary from this order is when I lane with a partner, which is not often!!! I am very passive with cho gath in the beginning so I don't waist any mana. I found that even if I get Rupture first that I don't use it till level 4 or 5 or that it doesn't really do much until its upgraded 2 or 3 times. So while I wait to level up I'm farming and vorpal spikes makes that easy!!!

Spells

I take Clarity and Flash for summoner spells because Cho'Gath is at a stand still without mana and can only pathetically poke at the enemy champs, as soon as clars up though you can bait them in and they might think youre out of mana and extand to far and BAM they are deep into trouble with something that is always hungry NOM NOM NOM!!!! And of course I take flash or ghost to have those made jukes to get out of a tight spot.

Pros / Cons

[Pros]
+ Hard to kill unless focused by 4 champs (or 3 with 2 being high damage out put)
+ When getting AP can do a fairly good amount of damage while slowing the target and catching up to eat them!!!
+ Ult does true damage to Champions and Minions
+ the more you kill with your ultimate the more health you get!
+ Your ultimate will make you bigger as long as you kill with it!
[Cons]
- Gets focused the better you are doing (the better you do the bigger you will be= the more noticeable you are)
- Mana hungry during lane if clarity is down
- You keep on forgetting you aren't invincible and do stupid stuff :(

Farming

Make sure you farm as much as possible before your first back!!! so you can get Rod of Ages as soon as possible and have more health and AP!!!

Playing Solo Top

When playing solo top always be aware of where you are, depending on your health and mana you might be the biggest target for ganking!

Make sure you don't tower dive early or without your jungler (it might seem like a good idea but don't do it!!!)

If you have been winning lane and had no need to back, don't stay after 11 minutes game time!!! if the enemy champion has had multiple trips back because of you killing them, they will have and advantage over you with items and will kill you.

Also with that being said, try not to leave lane until after 10 minutes (or when you have enough gold for Catalyst the Protector)
