Pros&Cons of Trynda

Pros

  • the best splitpusher in the game
  • high damage output with a couple items
  • good 1v1s
  • pretty strong with fury
  • counters immobile champions with little cc (e.g. Miss Fortune)

Cons

fury dependant early, which means:
  • he can be zoned off when without fury
  • having to continuously smack minions can mess up wave management
Countered by:
  • strong mobility abilities
  • cc
  • phase rush
  • zhonya
  • burst dmg (immediately forcing to ult and then kiting, e.g. assassins like fizz or zed)
  • tanks
Explanations
Why Essence Reaver? It's a crit item (duh), it gives much needed cdr (and it's not just 10, but 20%!), and it has stats worth 4000 gold (without the mana passive), which makes it one of the most cost effective items in the game and the best possible item for trynda.

Why Transcendence?
Firstly, trynda needs cdr to decrease the spin's cd because of how badly he gets kited.
Secondly, 10% cdr is worth 267 gold. When you overcap on it, you get 12 AD for each 10% of overcap. 12 AD is worth 420 gold. As you can see, with transcendence overcapping cdr is actually very good; without the rune, a cdr overcapping item is 267g less gold efficient, with it - 153g *more* gold efficient.

Why noob champion?
If you want to complain about trynda and compare him to zed or yasuo, you have the obligation to also complain about Renekton, Yorick, Jax, Urgot, Miss Fortune, Ashe and dozens of other champions, as they're not harder to play than trynda.

Why splitpushing so easy?
Splitpushing is only easy if:
  • the enemies are noobs who don't know how to deal with it
  • you're fed
  • your team is steamrolling through the game
In all scenarios it's the enemy team's fault.
Matchups

If you want to quickly find a matchup, press ctrl + f and type the champion's name, it will send you to it.

EASY MATCHUPS

Yorick
standard runes + summs, dshield/dblade
  • save your spin to get out of his cage,
  • if you don't do it and get kited with the cage, you will lose fights,
  • if you click outside of the cage, you will auto it; it takes 2 autos at rank 1 of this ability to destroy it,
  • with full fury, you win fights,
  • dodge his E, it hurts

Pyke
Standard runes and summs, dblade
  • you would think that after all this time since Pyke has been released, everyone would know by now that he's not to be played on top; but I guess some people want to lose really badly
  • don't get hit by his phantom
  • you win trades, all-ins, and you outsustain him
  • he can set up ganks extremely effectively, be careful about that

Mundo
standard runes and summs, dblade
  • hide from his cleavers by standing behind you minions; if you can't, just dodge them,
  • they have 4 sec cooldown,
  • with full fury, you win fights,
  • he can easily kite you with the cleavers (they slow you down by 40% for 2 seconds),
  • most of the time, you can't kill him after when uses his ult - force it out, kill him after it's over,
  • he regens 50% hp with his ult rank 1,
  • later, you won't be able to win with him,
  • never focus him in teamfights

Wukong
standard runes and summs
  • your lv 1 is stronger,
  • his lv 2 is stronger than yours, but if you push the lane, you will have wave advantage, which will nullify it,
  • be prepared to run him down after he uses his clone to get away - this is how you win this matchup
  • obviously, your W works when he's invisible,
  • remember about his hard CC ult, especially when diving

Kayle
standard runes, flash + ghost, dshield/dblade
  • before lv 6 she's a melee champion and she sucks, abuse that,
  • once she hits 6, she becomes a ranged champ and gets a very strong poke,
  • when she overextends, engage on her by spinning behind her and she's ****ed,
  • rank 1 duration of her ult is only 2.5 seconds - in a proper situation, you can tower dive her even she has it

Pantheon
lethal tempo + second wind and revitalize, flash + ignite, cloth + 4 pots
  • don't fight, only farm,
  • can kill him with full fury, ignite, R and a couple of minor items if you have minion advantage
  • outscale with 1 completed item

Irelia
standard runes and summs, dblade
  • don't start a fight if she has her passive stacked, it gives her a lot of power,
  • you just flat out win aganist her in all-ins
  • dodge her E and you win trades as well,
  • you can stand on your low hp minion to make her miss her Q which completely ****s her over because you can just kill her if it happens or at least have a good trade

MEDIUM MATCHUPS

Talon
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • read how his abilities work,
  • he has high damage, wins with you early, so be extremely careful,
  • his lv 2 is very strong,
  • from lv 4, you can trade (auto + spin away),
  • if you dodge the second part of his W (it has a 9 sec cd), you can all-in if the situation allows you to (wave placement, hp, fury, etc.),
  • he cannot jump over the same section of terrain again for 160 seconds,
  • if he cannot escape using the jump, you can run him down (from lv 6),
  • his ult gives him up to 2.5 sec of invis

Shen
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • his trades are very strong - you lose to him before lv 6 unless he wastes his abilities,
  • but once you get your ult, you win all-ins

Illaoi
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • dodge tentacles and e,
  • if you dodged her e and can all-in, do it,
  • do not get hit by her e when under the turret or you'll lose either a ton of hp or cs,
  • don't let her shove the waves (it makes it so that you can't hide behind minions from e)

Jax
skill matchup, don't listen to idiots saying jax counters trynda
grasp runes, flash + ignite, dblade
  • his E has a 16 sec cd,
  • lv 1, bait out his E and spin away (make sure to hit the spin damage),
  • from lv2, if you walk into his E range and he casts it, he will win the trade even if you spin away because he will Q to you, so make sure you can follow up right afterwards and punish him; in other words, don't approach him when you can't respond with damage on your own,
  • taking grasp means your all-ins are weaker, but the trades are very strong - if you try to all-in him lv1, you will lose,
  • kite him when he's using E (unless you're really ahead),
  • with sheen, he will win trades if you don't get off your grasp proc,
  • most low elo jax players think they can still fight you after their E is gone, so abuse that,
  • keep track of his ult passive to avoid getting hit by R proc, W and sheen - you will lose the trade,
  • if you get a crit with grasp proc and spin away, you will take away like 40% of his hp, with tiamat's active it's even more,
  • keep trading with him under his own turret,
  • if your timing is perfect, you can actually crit him, use tiamat's active and spin away without taking a turret shot,
  • if he has wave advantage, try to bait him into Qing to you; keep your mouse cursor very close to your character so when he does that you can immediately auto him and spin away before he starts his E,
  • jax has 5 more base ms, warp tonic gives him +5% ms while using a potion, inspi boots give 10 additional ms, phage grants 20 ms on autos, so remember about that when trying to chase him down; if you both have completed boots, he has 445 ms while using a potion and autoing you, while you have only 390 ms (without additional ms items), which means he can kite you
  • because of this, go for the tiamat and statikk build (tiamat gives stronger trades, shiv - trades and ms),
  • with trinity + spear, jax wins because he gets to have 2 counterstrikes with his ult in 1 fight (spear's passive); even if he's ******ed enough not to save the ult to use it AFTER completing the E cast, I'd still suggest not fighting him unless you're very ahead; the same goes for other builds

Rumble
standard runes, flash + ignite, dshield
  • he's stronger than you early,
  • but with a couple of minor items and full fury you can all-in successfully if he overextend without having many minions on himself
  • he can have 2 harpoons stored,
  • his harpoons and R slow you down a lot, you won't be able to chase him in this state,
  • outscale with 1-2 items

Vladimir
standard runes, flash + ghost, dshield
  • most vlads will get the stopwatch rune, so keep that in mind,
  • if he has phase rush, you won't be able to chase him down,
  • you can take trades with full fury, but he will heal it back if you allow him to,
  • his R deals damage 4 seconds after he hits you with it, so don't miss your ult because of it,
  • after those 4 seconds, it also heals him,
  • his W has a 28 second cooldown, play around that: bait it out, all-in when it's on cd

Cho'gath
standard runes, flash + ignite, dblade
  • early game, with full fury you win hard,
  • try to dodge the knockup with the spin,
  • his trades eventually become very strong and he gets too tanky for you to deal with,
  • when that happens, push and roam,
  • he has an execute ult without cast time - don't mis your R!

Urgot
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • don't fight him at all before lv 6 and before some items,
  • you can kill him if you dodge his Q and have full fury and ult (provided you're not fighting in his wave),
  • with ignite advantage, you can kill him even if he has some minions on himself
  • stay away from his ready legs - let him hit minions with the passive on your side,
  • when fighting, move accordingly to his passive so that he doesn't hit you with it,
  • his R cannot execute you in your ult (activate it just before you get inside of him)

Yasuo
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • he has a lot of kiting potential and abusing it is his win condition aganist you
  • dodge his Qs when not fighting
  • unless in extremely advantageous situation, he easily wins with you up to lv 4,
  • but once you get it, you can fight him with a minion advantage and fury,
  • don't let him kite you with minions - if you can see he will be able to do that in the fight, just wait for another time to fight,
  • with fury and ult you pretty much destroy him if he can't kite you
  • he can **** you up in teamfights with his third Q + ult, make sure you don't get hit by it

Maokai
fleetfoot, nimbus cloak + transcendence, flash + ignite, dblade
  • this champ is similar to malphite - tanky, powerful abilities, a lot of cc, but mana hungry,
  • however, he's easier to deal with,
  • play aganist him the same way you play aganist malph,
  • eventually, just like malphite, he becomes too strong aganist you and he even outsustains you at that point

Garen
standard runes and summs, dblade/dshield
  • be careful about his lv 1 Qs, don't get him by them,
  • he beats you in trades,
  • once he gets armor, it's also hard to beat him even in extended ones,
  • low elo garens might be stupid enough to just stand next to you and let you auto them to death instead of kiting for their cooldowns, so abuse that,
  • lv 11, garen gets an unbelievable amount of sustain from his passive

MEDIUM/HARD MATCHUPS

Neeko
runes vs heavy poke, flash + ignite/tp, dshield
  • her root (E) goes through units,
  • Q explodes 3 times,
  • if you get hit with E + Q, you will take a **** ton of damage, you must dodge it,
  • her ult stuns for 1.25 sec,
  • E's cd is 12 sec, Qs - 7 (at every rank),
  • if you dodge the root, you can run her down,

Darius
a very hard matchup if you don't make use of the tips given below and they're playing properly
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • this matchup is harder if darius takes ghost,
  • he's so strong early that he can literally walk up to you in your own minion wave and outtrade you,
  • you can't fight him early - let him push and farm,
  • stay out of his e range when you don't have your spin,
  • avoid using the spin to cs, you need it for escaping when pulled,
  • when you get pulled, auto and spin away, make sure you hit the spin dmg; do it very quickly so that he doesn't hit the Q,
  • your spin can be interrupted by his e, if that happens, you'll lose a ton of hp or straight up die (unless you flash out),
  • remember about dodging his q when farming under the turret,
  • save your spin to dodge his Q when you're slowed by his E/W (extremely important),
  • you have to make sure you use the spin perfectly; never spin if you don't have to,
  • if he's close to proccing his passive and you can't immediately kill him and don't have your ult, get the **** out of there asap,
  • if he pops ghost and you can't immediately kill him - retreat,
  • his pull's cd is 24 seconds rank 1 and he ranks it up at 8,10,12,13,
  • the best way to kill him: get full fury, let him pull you, auto and spin away, walk up to him the moment you have your spin back up (time it perfectly - start walking up to him when you havel like 1 second of cd left) and just auto him to death, he can't kite you properly without his E; remember to use the spin to dodge his Q by spinning into him,
  • outscale with 2 items

Malphite
an absolute joke of a champion, can't kill him in a normal way - AS slow + shield + armor passive make it impossible (thx riot for conq and IE nerfs)
runes vs heavy poke, flash + ignite, dshield
  • grasp gives him better fights, comet - poke with Q (mostly),
  • don't fight when hit with his E,
  • you have to outsustain his mana,
  • buy tiamat,
  • push the waves, hit his turret (let him attack you, he will draw minion aggro) then back of, heal, repeat - he will run out of mana and hp and then you can dive him,
  • when doing that, be *very* careful, a gank will almost certainly get you killed,
  • be careful not to whiff your ult when he ults you

Gangplank
fleetfoot, nimbus cloak + transcendence, flash + ghost, dshield
  • you outscale grasp GP,
  • dodge phantom barrels (and the regular ones, duh)
  • with good hp, fury, R and ghost you can win all-ins

Heimerdinger
runes vs heavy poke, flash + ghost, dshield
  • his only cc ability is the grenade (E) - if it hits you directly, you get stunned for 1.25 sec, if not - it slows you down by 35% for 2 seconds (80% with the empowered version
from the ult); it has a 12 sec cd; try to bait it out, then all-in,
  • his dmg, especially with the ult, is absolutely insane, don't get surprised by that

Riven
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • she's very slippery, hard to chase,
  • she wins short trades,
  • try to bait her abilities by walking forward and backwards,
  • play around her CDs: shield - 14, stun - 11, Q - 12-10 (can be reactivated within the next 4 seconds, with the second cast refreshing the timer),
  • her second cast of R is an execute ability which deals a ****ton of damage, so R early,
  • diving her is extremely dangerous, you have to let her hit you with the stun and the knockup before you start dealing damage to her (but good riven players won't do it)

Aatrox
LT, second wind + revitalize, flash + ignite/tp, dshield
  • very strong early game, beats you easily,
  • however, (from fogged's guide): "if aatrox wastes his auto passive and misses his first q, you can absorb the 2nd q and spin thru the third q to all in early on and you will win"
  • dodge his Qs and W,
  • if you get by his W, spin out of it; if you have no spin, walk to the side of it to get away,
  • his ult gives him a lot of MS, it's hard to chase him down when uses it,
  • farm it up

Trundle
standard runes and summs, dblade
  • don't fight him lv 1 under any circumstances,
  • he beats you in all-ins,
  • you win trades from lv 4 (auto and spin away),
  • once you get enough advantage, can all-in before lv 6,
  • save the spin to escape from his pillar,
  • he has an anti-carry ult - the stronger you are, the stronger his ult is,
  • so when he uses it, disengage with the spin
  • anecdote: I've recently lost a 1v1 to him while having a 3 frag advantage (during the laning phase!), that's how badly designed this champion is

Gnar
LT + second wind and revitalize, flash + tp, dshield
  • his jump has a 22 sec cd on rank 1 and isn't leveled up until level 14, so if you trade your spin for his hop, you have a time window for a good fight once you get your
    spin back up,
  • with full fury and a couple of minor items can kill him if you walk up to him when he's running out of mega form; bait and doge his w and q,
all-in (he can't stack his fury for 15 sec after getting back to mini form)

Kled
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • only fight him when his W is on cd,
  • don't get caught out - he can run you down with his Q and double dash EVEN if you have your spin,
  • dismount him when you can kill him right afterwards OR if you will end up with a lot of hp remaining

HARD MATCHUPS

Teemo
the 4th rune set (above), flash + ghost, dshield
  • don't get cheesed by his invis (especially at lv 1),
  • can engage on him lv 1-2 if he doesn't have a lot of minions on himself,
  • when he gets lv 3, farm it up,
  • track his shroom placement,
  • with full fury, high hp, R and ghost might be able to all-in successfully,
  • red trinket is your friend
  • the rune set I recommend gives you a lot more duel power but decreases your sustain, so don't take unnecessary poke

Renekton
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • can kill him lv 1,
  • once he gets lv 3, don't fight at all or you'll lose,
  • be extremely careful when he gets lv 6 first,
  • he can dive you easily if you don't have your ult,
  • you can be forced out of the lane if you get dove by him and his jg EVEN if you have your ult
  • can all-in with full fury, ignite and R when he doesn't have any fury (save spin for the chasedown)
  • outscale with 2 items

Tahm Kench
even if you will have to wait 25 minutes from dodging or 20 minutes from leavebuster, for god's sake, dodge; if you're in promos, beg your teammates to swap;
if you still have to play vs him, here's what to do:
standard runes, TP, dshield
  • don't fight him at all at any point of the game - he completely ***** on you,
  • he can run you down with his very strong slows,
  • he can force you out of the lane when you're farming under the turret if he manages to devour you a couple times,
  • only farm,
  • remember about his R which negates your roams and splitting,
  • press r earlier than usually when you get devoured

Vayne
for some reason a hyperscaling adc can picked top and be an extreme lane bully, completely nullifying their rightfully weak early game aganist other adcs
runes vs heavy poke, flash + ghost (aggro)/tp (passive), cloth + 4 pots
  • start Q lv1,
  • rush tabis,
  • buy a refillable on back,
  • if she's not stupid, you lose 1v1s unless extremely ahead,
  • yes, she wins by default even when 2 frags behind,
  • if she Qs close into you, can trade/all-in,
  • if you won't be able to chase her, immediately back off,
  • position yourself accordingly to her E,
  • E cooldown - 20 seconds; when you have your spin and her e is on cd, this is your window of opportunity to have a good fight,
  • dodge her Q auto by spinning away at the right moment,
  • this matchup is heavily reliant on summs: if you have tp and she has heal, it's very hard to duel her; if she picks tp and you take ghost - you can actually win 1v1s,
  • I recommend taking ghost in lower elo (unless you have no experience on trynda) because you want to win the lane, which is possible even aganist her (because you're playing
    ****ters),
  • it's important to use ghost at the right time (which means early [but only if you know you can kill her or force the flash]) because it has to ramp up, otherwise, you
    might waste it,
  • call for jg assistance,
  • experimental: 1st item botrk - for sustain and stickiness from the active

Nasus
standard runes and summs, dblade
  • early, he will just play super passive and focus on getting stacks
  • he has a lot of sustain with his passive
  • once he gets some stacks, he completely ***** on you and at this point there's nothing you can do; because of this, you have to destroy him early by using perfect high-level wave management and aggression; if you can't do that - ban or dodge (unless you're in elo low enough for nasus players to be dumb enough to try to fight you early)

Poppy
standard runes and summs, dshield
  • typically, she just wins aganist you,
  • it only gets worse as the game progressess,
  • but early you might be able to win the trades if you have full fury and she doesn't pick up her buckler and doesn't pin you aganist the wall,
  • you CANNOT get pinned aganist the wall or you'll lose the trade super hard (position accordingly),
  • you can get pinned aganist your own turret,
  • do not fight when she's just picked the buckler (that thingy on the ground),
  • you can pick it up yourself to deny it,
  • about to kill her? good job, you won't be able to - she's gonna fix her mistake by pressing r and sending you flying back to your nexus

Kennen
sustain runes, flash + tp, dshield
  • one of the best teamfighters in the game and still 1v1s you with ease (so much for balance),
  • his E cd is 10 sec rank 1, so you cannot play around that unless he uses it on minions,
  • because of this, you cannot solo kill him unless he's ******ed,
  • with full fury and statikk proc can trade (walk away when he uses E) and maybe outsustain him (but not if he has klepto),
  • farm it up

Karma
sustain runes, flash + ghost/tp, dshield
so you thought a support champion cannot be picked top and 1v1 a splitpusher? well, you were wrong
  • very strong poke, healing, shields, cc, mobility, absolutely overloaded kit,
  • on top of that, she can take phase rush to **** you up even more,
  • hard to gank,
  • can't duel her,
  • can't trade with her,
  • only farm and try to dodge her Qs (5 second base cd on rank 5 btw),
  • empowered Q creates a zone that slows you down and explodes, once she gets luden's, if you get hit by it, you will lose about 35/40% of your hp (balance btw),
  • if you outpush her, she won't be able to harass you as much, so rush tiamat,
  • late game her empowered root lasts for 3.25 seconds lmao
Conclusion
If you want me to add something to the guide (for example, how to play aganist full ad soraka), just let me know.
