Hi everyone, I'm deastorer and this is my first guide on mobafire. I have played rengar countless times in and out of ranked. He currently is my favorite champion in league of legends due to the the fact that he is in my main role, jungle, and is also a assassin. Rengar is a really good jungler post 6 and can easily set up ganks with his ultimate. However be careful of getting counter jungled as Rengar pre 6 without ferocity stacks is really weak against top tear junglers such as Lee Sin and Elise.

As Rengar early game you want to start with hunters machete 4 health pots. You can start with 2 health pots and a ward if you chose so but I prefer 4. First you want to go to red buff and cycle through the jungle from there. You can gank a lane if you build up ferocity however Rengars early ganks are not very strong. You are also prone to counter jungling by other strong junglers such as Lee Sin and Elise. First back your goal is to get Madred's Razors and The Brutalizer. Next back or two you should have a Youmuu's Ghostblade. Also try and get dragon control with wards. Once you hit level 6 as rengar this is your time to set up your first ganks and to start snowballing your team. Rengars level 6 ganks are very strong due to the ferocity build and the ability to root your target into the ground with your bola.

Middle game rengar starts to get a power spike and out scales most junglers into late game. With a Youmuu's Ghostblade and a Tiamat you can duel most junglers, as well as most champions in this state of the game if you play it right. At this state of the game you should have Feral Flare completed. Contuinue to gank lanes if laning phase is still going on or try and catch out the enemy carries such as the ADC and mid laner.

At this stage of the game you should have already out scaled most junglers and are a great duelest. Try and establish control around baron and pic off the enemy team if they are out of position. In team fights focus the ADC or mid laner depending on who you think will have more effect on the fight. Don't be afraid to jump in if the enemy team is around them! You do a lot of damage and should have a GuardianAngle. You alone can win your team fights by killing their carries.

You can see the masteries above. I chose to go 21 offense and 9 defense for the sole reason that I play rengar as a assassin and not a tank. Also helps for dueling people early.

I select all AD Quints, all AD Marks, Seals of scaling health, and glphys of magic resist.
The AD Quints and marks are self explanatory, I want more damage, however I use seals of scaling health for the early game health as well as more health late game so I can jump into fights without having to worry about being blown up as fast. The glphys are also self explanatory.

As Rengar I start at red buff then go to wraiths and then to blue buff. From there I will either go top or bot lane depending on what side I am on and if the lane is over extended, if not I will continue farming my jungle and will look for other ganks. After your first back you should be around level 5 or 4. From there go back to your red buff, cycle through your jungle and then to blue. Once you hit level 6 look for a gank in a lane. Remember to wait to throw your bola out once you have full ferocity to route them in place and secure a kill. From here you will usually want to continue farming your jungle, as well as looking for ganks and establishing early dragon control. Remember to ward objectives such as dragon early on. If you can buy wards and pink wards on your first back as well as the ones following those.

Going against Rengar usual counter picks are Lee Sin for his early dueling ability as well as Elise for the same reason. Against these champions as rengar make sure your team places down early trinkets to see if they are going to try and counter jungle you early. Important: Don't duel Lee Sin or Elise pre 6 unless you have ferocity built up and/or they are low on health. Even after level 6 you may have trouble dueling either of them. Even if you aren't going against an Elise or Lee Sin watch out for other junglers such as Evelynn. She can get the jump on you with her stealth form and can easily out duel you early.

Pros:
Rengar is a top tear jungler who can assassinate carries, as well as be an effective tank if he falls behind.
Rengar can snowball games if he gets ahead and is one of the few junglers who can carry teams in the late game.
He is an extremely good duelest post 6 and can set up extremely good ganks post 6.
Cons:
Rengar is hard to get going and struggles in the early game.
Rengar will get out dueled by both Lee Sin and Elise if they play properly
His ganks aren't very effective pre 6 unless you have ferocity built up or do a lane gank.
