Choose Champion Build:

  • LoL Champion: Ezreal
  • LoL Champion: Ezreal

Introduction : Ezreal in theory.

Ezreal is a champion who revolves around skill shots, and your ability to hit them in accordance with your auto attacks. Making Ezreal a fun and challenging character to play.

Ezreal was born with the gift of magic flowing through his veins. Ezreal, however, was also born with a much stronger sense of wanderlust. Put into school to become a skilled techmaturgist, Ezreal quickly became bored with magical studies. By the time the boy genius was eight years old, he had fully mapped out the underground tunnels of Piltover. The quality of his work was so great that the government of Piltover purchased his maps and salaried his services as Piltover's Grandmaster Explorer. This sealed the deal on Ezreal's path in life - he would eschew the arcane arts in favor of archaeology. Since then, countless of Ezreal's adventures have been written about as romanticized stories.

One of Ezreal's latest adventures, however, has brought him face-to-face with his other legacy - his latent magical power. While exploring the pyramids of Shurima Desert, Ezreal uncovered an amulet of incredible power. Aside from the sheer size of the amulet (it was made for a being easily twice Ezreal's size), it allows the wielder to control and shape magical energy - provided a source of magic is in the vicinity. This allowed Ezreal to tap into his natural talent for magic without having to put any serious effort into it - a big win for the Prodigal Explorer. The drawback is that for some unknown reason, the amulet is attuned with summoning magic. Without warning, Ezreal may find himself acting as a champion for, as he puts it, ''a summoner hell-bent on resolving some irrelevant world-shattering League conflict.'' Still, Ezreal feels being summoned into a Field of Justice on occasion is a small price to pay.

"There's little time to study musty tomes when you're busy crawling around where the musty tomes originally came from." Such is Ezreal's credo.

Runes

Now on to runes. As for most physical damage characters, you'll have Armor Penetration Marks and Quints not only increasing your damage tremendously early game, but also helping to balance it mid to late game against those heavy set bastard bruisers. I go with either HP per level seals, or pure armor, and for glyphs you can use either Pure magic resistance or if you're feeling like you'll have a comfortable laning phase, pure attack speed glyphs.

My Preferred setup :

Greater Mark of Desolation
Greater Seal of Armor
Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
Greater Quintessence of Desolation

Masteries

My masteries are pretty self explanatory. please comment if you would like to suggest a change to them.

Items

I must warn you, this build requires a heavy amount of minion farming if not a heavy amount of early game kills..

first you want to begin with a Doran's Blade, and hang in laning phase for a while, grabbing minion kills EVERY chance you get. Yes, that means even using your Q to hit those hard to reach minions, you do not want to let a minion go unkilled, IT IS YOUR LIFE. By the time you hit around 1650 gold, you want to either recall and grab your B.F Sword or stick around to get enough to get boots as well. By this time you'll be level 6, bringing your farming and killing to a new level. After a while you'll be able to recall again for a Sheen, and a Vampiric Scepter for your later Bloodthirster. Continue to grab kills and creep score, because at this point you're shining like a star with your new Sheen. Eventually you'll return to complete your Bloodthirster and grab a The Brutalizer, and then work on finishing your Trinity Force, and building a Madred's Bloodrazor for pesky tanks, and bruisers. If you're nearing late game, a Last Whisper will above all improve your damage output by a very healthy amount.

Also, for defensive items, there are several options-
Hexdrinker : Pesky Karthus, or wild aoe bringing you down when you don't want to? This is a perfect solution, it gives a cute little bit of magic resistance and attack damage aswell as a mini shield.
Banshee's Veil : An Ashe with a nasty little grudge getting on your nerves? Well no longer. This little buddy gives you a nice bit of health and mana, aswell as a bubble that protects you from ANY magic effect.
Aegis of the Legion : This is often overlooked because it has no entirely beneficial aspects for a dps character, but if you're down to late game and none of the above options have no taste right then, then go ahead and give your team a neat little buff. Also gives a nice amount of base magic resistance and armor.
Frozen Heart : Frozen heart is good for it's mana and on hit slow ( Enemy hits you, gets slowed) but ultimately I never grab this item. But as I said it's not at all bad.
Frozen Mallet : This is great when you're just stomping the enemy team, and you want a little bit of back bone, or if you're tired of letting that sneaky little *****.. I mean twitch get away. ***Thanks to TreyLinden16 for reminding me to add this section***

Skill Sequence

My Skill sequence isn't new or original, I'd figure altering it wouldn't affect much, unless you decided to not max your Mystic Shot first.

As for rotation, entering a fight I like to poke a few times with Mystic Shot to see if they really want to go for it, if so I enter in with Arcane Shift toss out a Essence Flux to boost my raging spell force stacks and begin using Mystic Shot with my auto attacks, if I'm entering a danger zone and they're around 20% health I can safely use a Mystic Shot after dropping Ignite to gurantee a kill. ( Against most ranged carries and squishier melee characters )

Bear in mind Mystic Shot is top priority on your spell rotation. Your Trueshot Barrage should be used for either initiating a fight or running enemies.
Initiating with Trueshot Barrage is quite simple, simply begin casting when your tank, or designated person begins a fight.

Rising Spell Force
Increases attack speed everytime a spell is used and hits a target
Rising Spell Force increases Ezreal's attack speed by 10% for 6seconds stacking up to 5 times, you gain this by successfully hitting a target with an ability.

Mystic Shot
Ezreal fires a bolt of physical energy
Mystic Shot is the most useful spell for AD Ezreal because of its short cooldown and low mana cast. It applies on hit effects and is affected by armor penetration.

Essence Flux
Ezreal fires magical energy
Essence flux is an ability that deals magic damage, and goes through minions. Only affecting champions. It decreases an enemies attack speed, but also increases allied champion's attack speeds.

Arcane Shift
Ezreal teleports to a nearby location
Ezreal teleports to a nearby sqaure shooting the nearest target. This spell lines your other skill shots up perfectly. Can also be used to go through barriers

Trueshot Barrage
Fires a massive wave of energy
Ezreal's ultimate and most powerful damaging ability. It travels from one end of the map to the other, depending on how it is aimed. This can be used to initiate or to kill strays.

Summoner Spells and their application

Exhaust : is a lovely spell that is just too good to give up, especially as poor ole Ezreal. The slow, damage decrease, and resistance drop thanks to improved exhaust is too much to give up.
Ignite : Because quite frankly, I'm Ezreal trick. I don't need mobility that I already have, instead I like to put a bittersweet taste in their mouth with easy first blood kills, and more early game kills.

Buffs and how they affect your play.

Blue Golem
: Grants great mana regen and reduced cooldowns. If you can grab this buff it will work wonders for your farming and offensive capabilities.
Lizard Elder
: If no one else is getting this buff GET IT this buff is absolutely the ****ing **** for Ezreal. Seeing as Mystic Shot applies on hit effects. Giving the slow and DOT from lizard elder a formidable presence in Ezreal.

Ezreal is dope

Ezreal is most certainly my favorite character, and although he's a little rough around the edges compared to other characters, he is most definitely the most enjoyable. I hope you enjoyed my first build, and I'd like to thank the other Ezreal builds that helped me along the way to learning him. If you liked it, please leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you guys. If you think it could use some polishing please feel free to leave constructive criticism. Thank you, and get out there and show those tricks and hoes a true display of skill.

If you notice that I've added an AP Ezreal then I'd like to ask that you take a look at it, it is purely theory right now, but once I've tested effectively, I'll add a true AP Ezreal build.
