Champion Build Guide
You're jungle remember? It might only be a +10 Movement Speed difference, but that could be the deciding factor on whether or not you can land your Q or R while chasing someone down. These boots paired with your Q will also make running out of jungle into a gank that much faster.
Black Cleaver
This is the biggest power spike you'll feel over the entire game.
-40 AD will make your E clear camps twice as fast and the enemy team won't expect this rise in power.
-20% cooldown on a champ with no mana bar makes you that much deadlier in all aspects of the match.
-400 health gets you that much closer to activating your warmog's before laning phase is over.
-Passives work extremely well with the boom and zoom chase down style of jungler Garen is. Plus the extra armor shed on top of your E is damn near 50% armor reduction.
Cinderhulk
We're getting this because it makes clearing camps and minions way too easy for Garen. It also gives you 300 health + 15% of your total HP which means it scales. Most games you will end up having the most CS out of all 10 people. 300% immolate damage to minions, plus your E, plus demolish rune makes you a serious split push threat mid to late game.
Warmog's Armor
It's foolish not to run this item on a tank. Let alone a tank where health is your only resource. Just get it, and when you get focused down to low health run away from the team fight for a few seconds to be full again. You will be the front line for your team end game.
I haven't seen a game yet where it reaches 30 minutes.
Why?
Because if used correctly, Garen is the ultimate lane pressure tool. Every gank will be met with the enemy team worrying about disengaging or paying with their lives. After lane phase you will be able to push wave faster than minions can run, towers will crumble, and your top laner will be bearing the weight Garen usually does in team fights while you split push.
If the game goes on longer.
Maybe your team comp can't do without you, maybe they meet your split push attempts every time
If the game goes on longer you meet them with much more health and much more defense
Garen's W was just buffed to increase all resistances by 10% after maxing the passive which grants 30 MR and Armor on it's own. You should easily pass 100 resistances without even building a single item for it
Pair this with the conditioning rune and after 10 minutes you will have 9 resistances plus 5%
This means 39 MR and Armor + 15% all resistances
See where this is going?
Garen without any tank items is already tankier than most with 2 tank items built, and all it took was passing the 10 minute mark
Your health scales with cinderhulk
Your resistance scales with conditioning and your passive
You are unstoppable with tank items
They give Armor/MR and Health, both of which you scale
Build according to their biggest damage dealers, and you'll be sitting at 200+ resistances with over 5000 health
You rule the jungle Pre 6 and stomp the jungle after 6
There aren't many who oppose you especially in low elo's
Coordinate ganks with your laners and secure drags for ez wins
He's an excellent top laner, and with 10.4 he's the new king of the jungle
