Introduction

Greetings, fellow summoners! My name is Jerkutus and I´m a Diamond elo player in both EUNE and EUW. I´ve reached diamond with several smurfs using mostly Nasus.
On my opinion, Nasus is designed for solo-queue. He has ridiculous carry potential whether its being the scary frontline or pressuring the map with his amazing splitpushing strenght. So, without further ado, I´m here to bring you tips and tricks on how to play as Nasus.

This is my first so the guide might lack some information. Thank you for taking the time to read my guide and feedback is always appreciated.

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ High Damage with Siphoning Strike
+ Strong Mid-Late Game
+ Fearsome Frontline
+ Strong Pusher
+ Solo-queue Carry
Nasus has three different gameplay methods. You can play as frontline for your team in teamfights, split-push towers to pressure the map or pressure game, which is using your advantage to pressure lanes and using Teleport to join fights.
Cons

- Immobile
- Weak early-game
- Vulnerable to ganks
Nasus is an immobile champion. He can be CC:ed and kited to prevent him from doing any damage in teamfights. His early weak-game makes him vulnerable to ganks and strong early game champions like Riven or Lee Sin. Nasus doesn´t have any mobility spells or gapclosers so you´re mostly reliant on your movement speed and tankiness.

Masteries

Mastery Explanations
space
FEROCITY TREE

Fury Chose this over Sorcery since Nasus deals damage from autoattacks

mastery=feast Gives nice sustain in lane.

Vampirism Works well with Nasus´s passive Soul Eater

Oppressor Synergizes with Wither and other CC.

space
RESOLVE TREE

Unyielding Little bit tankier.

Explorer Mobility.

Runic Armor Lifesteal and regeneration boost.

Insight Gives a small advantage in lane, when you have your Teleport and Flash sooner off cooldown.

Swiftness Reduces the effects of CC on you.

Grasp of the Undying Helps sustaining in fights and trades. Ridiculously strong mastery point on Nasus

Nasus´s main damage comes from his stacks. Maxing Siphoning Strike will lower the cooldown and increase base damage. After a few keyitems you will have approximately 2 second cooldown on his q at lvl 9.

Stacking Spirit Fire gives you more control over the lane. You shouldn´t spam it though since it can make you go OOM rather quickly. Wither on the other hand is perfect for setting up ganks and chasing down your opponent since Nasus doesn´t really have any gapclosers. Also the attack speed reduction is great for autoattack based champions such as Yasuo or Vayne. You should check the enemy champions and decide your playstyle before you decide whether you want to max E or W.

Summoner Spells

WHAT TO PICK

These are the main summoner spells you should choose all the time. Teleport gives you map presesnce and speeds up your stacking time greatly. Flash gives an escape, you can flash over walls to get rid of your chasers or it can be used as a gapcloser, which Nasus doesn´t have.

OTHER

Personally I don´t use Ghost since you can get the needed movement speed from your items. Also the movement speed and ignoring unit collision isn´t that long to be picked.

WHAT NOT TO PICK

Never ever pick ignite with Nasus. Its useless. Choosing ignite over Flash or Teleport isn´t viable and Nasus doesn´t need that early game combat spell. Don´t use this!

You get enough heal from your passive and Spirit Visage.

Do I need to even comment this?

Items Explanation

Items

Gives movement speed and reduces the CC time. Also the Alacrity enchantment in these will boost movement speed.

One of the core items on Nasus. Ridiculous stats with this item with the Sheen proc and Phage movement speed. Pick this over Iceborn Gauntlet in ALL SITUATIONS!

Build from Glacial Shroud. Gives a nice cooldown reduction and armor. Also the attack speed reduction is great versus Marksmen or AA based champions.

Magic resist, health and cooldown reduction. The passive synergizes well with Soul Eater

Gameplay

Early Game

In early game, you should only focus on last hitting minions with your Siphoning Strike.
Try not to engage any fights, except if the jungle comes and you know its a free kill.
Always keep 1 or 2 wards in the river so that you don´t die from a gank.

Mid Game

Mid-game you should change you playstyle depending on your teamcomposition. If you
have a teamfight oriented team, such as Amumu or Leona, you should group with your team and look for a opening to engage a fight. Use TP to help your losing lanes or break a fight at dragon. Beware if you´re behind, you might actually do more harm than good when joining the fights. Try to have atleast 200 stacks and few key-items before trying to fight.
If your team is doing well or the enemy team has better teamfight composition you should try to splitpush to pressure the map.

Late Game

This is where Nasus shines the best. You should have around +600 stacks at this point (After 400 stacks, you should focus on the objectives and finishing the game.) In teamfights your main role is to soak up damage, waste enemy cooldowns on you and to kill enemy carries. If the enemy team has an assassin such as Rengar or Zed, your place is next to your carries. Try to defend your ADC or mid-lane so that they can do as much damage as possible. Keep in mind, you are one of the only tanks who has high damage that increases through the game. It´s crucial to put your pressure on the most damage dealing champion in the game. It might be the enemy ADC or fed Rengar in the jungle.

Keep In Mind

The way you play, changes depending on the champions on the team. Try to adapt as much as possible to your and the enemy team composition.
