How does this review work:I'll be going into four 'main' topics: Cheatsheet, Content, Presentation and What can be Improved?. All of these topics alone can turn a great guide into an even better one. Just knowing the ins and outs of your champion alone won't be enough if you're not able to properly convey said information. The end goal is always to make it easier for the readers that come to your guide of course.I'll specify these main categories with purple text within this review, as well as some subcategories which will mostly depend on your guide chapters and for that I'll use the following rating system:

Cheatsheet

>Runes: Adequate

I would personally put the Summon Aery into Resolve page as your first and "Standard Page" as it's currently the most popular rune page on Viktor. Followed closely by First Strike right after by a mile.

You mention that Summon Aery with Resolve as well as First Strike are both taken into melee matchups. For me as a reader, this doesn't make sense. If I were to play Viktor right now and my opponent is a melee champion, which page should I pick if both are into melee. You try to explain this reasoning in the Aery page by saying that Resolve is strong if you have a Karma or just general enchanters who shield on your team. But you can also say that Bone Plating is strong into matchups that are more difficult to face. At the same time you say that First Strike now sucks because it was nerfed and you no longer recommend it, leaning me more as a reader into thinking that Aery is the one to pick and First Strike is completely irrelevant so I'm wondering why you even have it as an option within the guide.

If you have 2 rune pages into melee matchups and 1 page at the end into long range matchups. Where does the "Standard" rune page fall into place? When should you run that page if every matchup you will face are already covered by 3 other pages?

>Summoner Spells: Adequate

I'd put into Teleport that it's also good just for the laning phase as you won't get punished as easily, can very easily teleport back to catch up waves and just stay relatively even.

What's the point of Barrier when you already say that TP is better. In 90% of games you pick TP, the leftover 10% you either go Ignite if the matchup is extremely easy or you run Cleanse if the enemy comp has lots of heavy CC chains. Where does Barrier fall in here? To me it sounds like it just sucks as a spell because you don't explain it at all.

I never see a single soul running Plated Steelcaps on Viktor. If anything Boots of Swiftness is used more. You are a mage, plated has no meaning for you when you can run Zhonya's Hourglass and play safer. 90% of your games is gonna be a Sorcerer's Shoes rush, and for the remaining %, if you really need defenses or a more snowbally build, you either run Mercury's Treads or Ionian Boots of Lucidity.

Having 6 different full builds creates a very overwhelming feeling for anyone who reads the guide when it comes to knowing what build to go along with just being confusing overall. I'd stick to 2-3 builds here. Have the first one be Luden's focused, the most popular build here everyone runs is Luden's -> Sorc's -> Lich bane -> Rabadon's -> Zhonya's -> Void Staff, you already have this build as it's your #4. Then keep the builds for Blackfire Torch and Archangel's Staff as these builds actually have variety and a varying playstyle.

If your build varies with only a singular item or 2, then create a new item group where you explain each choice individually, this way readers can understand what each item does, what each item accomplishes and why you even buy it in the first place, instead of being overwhelmed by everything all at once, not understanding what makes them differ.

I feel like your "Counter Builds" are pointless. Here you include swifties but they're not mentioned anywhere else. Here you include blackfire torch but that item wasn't mentioned anywhere else, not even as a first back option. This goes back to my prior point above ^ with splitting apart items individually to speak about their strengths and weaknesses. Having 1 full build you can only run into 1 single very hyper specific matchup just seems so worthless. At the same time you run Zhonya's Hourglass into Zed, Akali & Yone but you don't run Zhonya or even a Banshee's Veil into Fizz where those 2 items are almost vastly more required to survive.

Note: Good, but I'd include notes for the very first ability order as well. Why is this the order you run on this champion, why is it even good in the first place. Why do I as a reader max E first and not the other abilities.

In the tips for Glorious Evolution I'd prob delve into which upgrade to go with 2nd and why. I'd also mention that your ultimate Arcane Storm only get its final upgrade once the other 3 abilities are upgraded.

Your E "Death Ray" is now called Hextech Ray, and your R "Chaos Storm" is now called Arcane Storm -- I'd recommend changing the titles of those to avoid confusion considering his rework and all.

I'd also mention in the tips of Arcane Storm that the storm grows with every kill it makes, making teamfights deadlier if you're able to capitalize off of it.

You speak about what to do during the early 3 waves, which I guess is good and all. But in that case I'd just split it apart into its own section entirely. This is because here you're not talking at all about Wave Management, you're instead delving into Lane Priority. So have a chapter about Lane Prio instead.

As for the fast push/slow push/freeze, I feel like you can delve deeper into these. Why do you slow push, why do you fast push, why do you freeze, what does it accomplish, why does it accomplish that? There's a lot more that goes into freezing than one might think and personally speaking I believe it's the hardest part about manipulating waves, it's not really as easy as to just leave 4 minions alive and match waveclear. You have to make sure they don't crash at turret, you have to make sure more enemy minions are alive than allied ones, you have to make sure the enemy cannot easily break your freeze or push it out (such as zoning from wave or poking), you have to drag your 4 minions to wait for the next wave to ensure the freeze stays in place, and even then, doing everything correctly, you may still end up breaking your own freeze from a mistake or because you killed one minion too quickly, making it push against you.

I don't understand the "how to slow push" part. You say to last hit minions without clearing them too quickly, which is good, but then you say to clear only the melee minions to keep the wave advancing slowly. What about the casters? What about the cannons? Are you just going to leave them to die? The main purpose of a slow push is just to last hit every single minion, not use any abilities to indirectly push the wave. The moment a minion is low, you last hit it to collect the gold & exp, no matter if it's a caster, melee or a cannon.

I'd mention that your Hextech Ray does get boosted by its upgrade making the ray return after cast, this can double hit casters on a wave and with enough damage will 1shot them with relative ease. Include this within your "how to fast push" -- it's quite beneficial to know since your abilities both can and cannot upgrade.

As long as you keep your distance or bait out her Five Point Strike before collecting a minion, you'll be fine. You are a mage with better range and her Q still has a short range. As Viktor you have 2 good opportunities to engage on her. 1) When her Five Point Strike is on cooldown or she misses it and 2) Her Twilight Shroud is not available, you can always bait out this spell, disengage, then re-engage later while it's on cooldown. It has a massive cooldown of 20-16s, abuse that window.

I like the way you explained for Xerath that you should avoid staying too close to minions due to Arcanopulse and Eye of Destruction being able to still poke you, clear the wave and push it all at once. I would mention as well that you need to be mindful when you're standing away from your minions so that he can't just hit a Shocking Orb onto you for free, as this is the only vulnerability you do have while not being near your minions.

Other than that, well made section but incredibly short. You'll need some more matchups here champ. 😁

Presentation

You've done quite a good job when it comes to the presentation aspect of your guide. I like the color usage and don't find it too overbearing since e.g. using way too much white color can make it start to feel like an eyesore for the eyes to constantly look at when reading.

When it comes to your abilities section, I would create a space inbetween the ability icon on the left and the text itself on the right. It looks a bit unpleasant to look at them just being jumbled together, it'd be prettier if they're separated. On that same note, your ability icon for Glorious Evolution does not follow the same border pattern as your other abilities, the border around it is way smaller.

Since you're using white borders for your banners and a white outline for your actual code's border, what you could do is line them up together and just change the border-radius of the border. Avoiding the big gap inbetween every single section, and its code, and its banner, which doesn't look good.

What I mean is something along the lines of this:


The only thing I did to accomplish this result is to remove the big gap inbetween your "img=x" tag and the start of your "responsive" tag. Then in the responsive tag, you have a "border-radius". Changing that border-radius to be border-radius="0px 0px 15px 15px" instead of just border-radius=15px will make 2 sides be rounded the way you have everything else, whilst the other 2 sides have nothing at all. Your guide uses a lot of rounding, which in of itself is not bad per se, but overusing it could drastically tone down how pleasing the guide is to look and read through.

Here are a few coding guides that we already have on the site that could help you if you'd be willing to dedicate some of your time to learning it (or if you just want some quick templates to make your guide look a bit more tidy):

You have a very well made theme for your guide going off of the banners you've chosen to the colors you're using to make up the bulk of your code and presentation. There isn't really much else to say here as you don't have all that much content overall to talk about. I'd just say to continue doing what you're doing and try to keep the theme and colors relatively consistent.

What can be Improved?

Making guides more extensive takes a very long time and a lot of dedication, but if you want to spend more time making your guide more informative try to explain more topics such as:

- A sort of introductionary chapter. I would love to personally see this chapter before your Pros / Cons start. Tell your readers who you are, and why you are making this guide, or what you're hoping to explain or talk about regarding Viktor.
- Going over the skilling sequence, within say a chapter, why are you upgrading your abilities in a certain order. For example, your Hextech Ray. What purpose is there to max this ability first? Readers may not know this, especially not if they're trying to pick up the champion.
- Summoner Spells chapter. You have 4 options of spells you can run on this champion, but you don't really delve much in-depth or more extensive into any of these options at all.
- How to play around objectives
- How to Roam effectively if you were to actually go about doing that. Explain how you roam and when the best time to roam is, as to not negatively impact your own lane.
- Combos?
- What to do in the early- mid- and late stages of the game. If I recall correctly Viktor plays these differently, does he not?
- How do you play the laning phase as Viktor? Do you play differently if your matchup is melee or ranged? Or is it the exact same for everyone?
- Potential win cons - If any, again objectives play a good part here
- What is Tempo? It's a term that exists and I'm confident it applies to midlane.
- Does the way you play the game as Viktor differ depending on whether you get ahead, or fall behind?
- Wave Management
- I believe it goes without saying that you should focus more on your Gameplan/Items & Runes section, these are completely empty. You can explain topics I mentioned in your Gameplan chapter if you'd like and make sure you cover every item you pick on the champion and why you buy it as well as every rune you pick and why that rune is picked in the first place.

- Matchups - You go into these very briefly at the end with just Akali and Xerath which is very good. However I believe there are a lot more midlaners in the game other than just two, and despite not actively playing Viktor myself, I also do still believe he has a few more counters than these two.

These topics can all be useful topics to explain, and of course there can be multiple more I haven't mentioned that you can talk about when it comes to Midlane as a role, but I feel like these are some of the more important ones to consider.

Overall Thoughts

For your very first guide, it's pretty well made. The information as previously mentioned is fine, but it doesn't actually go deep into all that many aspects. If you add some more sections, talk more extensive about certain topics that matter for your champion and work more on the presentation aspect of your guide, then this guide can definitely become a very good source for players looking to pick up Viktor.
