How to Effectively play Ivern
Never communicate with a negative player, use the block button and keep your mind clear.
Positively react when your team gets kills and when they don't.
First of all, realize that Ivern as a tank doesn't do as much damage as he does as a mage, I strongly suggest practicing in bot games before attempting this build in blind pick or ranked play.
I chose Ivern as a tank as he has fairly high base hp, great crowd control and is a team player. Because Ivern is an up close an personal character this makes his ultimate ability much easier to land as enemy champions will focus and follow you in team fights, sunfire cape allows us to passively punish players for closing the distance with us and our slow + root allow us the opportunity to make picks for our team.
Make sure to shield your team mates as soon as they dive or are about to eat damage.
The shield is incredibly strong and has the added benefit of a massive slow to help make picks and keep your team alive. Your snare is best used on enemies with lower health as it allows your carry to finish injured opponents and set up the shield.
Your bushes can be used to peel or set up ganks, I personally use them when my jungle is approaching as it gives them ample time to launch a surprise attack from the side.
Your ultimate is best used when 2 or more opponents are near and are actively engaged in combat with you, make sure they are slowed and or snared to maximise damage output and knockups
