Items

When I start playing I always go straight for either Youmuu's. I almost always rush Hydra after Youmuu's. When I got these I go for Duskblade for lethality, move-speed & bonus damage. After them I go for Scimitar, a nice 4-5th item since it removes slow effects and actually just a good item. And Black cleaver is also important since it gives you extra damage and extra health since you get more tanky. When you're done with these items I also go for CDR boots so you can use E faster.
If you're against an heavy AP champion you should go for Maw as second item since it gives AD and Magic resist. If you can't stop dying you should probaly go for GA.

Combo's

Lane Combo (pre-6):

W (make sure your W hit both times), Q, Auto-Attack, Ignite

Lane Combo (after-6):
Build in your R somewhere between your other spells. Timing isnt that important, just pay attention on being able to get an auto-attack off AFTER 3 of your spells hit (if the enemy dodges one instance of your W, you want to use your Q and R before your auto-attack to proc your Passive.

Roaming
Talon's Roaming has gotten empowered pretty srtongly with his new E Both sidelanes are now very easily gankable since you can jump in out of nowhere and you can go round the enemy vision very easily.

1v1
When you're 1v1ing someone (especially melees), focus on using your Q when youre in melee range - unless you need it as a gapcloser because the enemy is running away.
Talon's Q does a lot more damage when used melee, because it then critically strikes.

Early Game

Talon's Early game got a pretty decent buff in season 7. Especially his new passive provides a lot of early game damage. I feel like the difference between winning and losing your lane lies in the matchup. Talon's range got nerfed pretty strongly, so low-range enemies are bullied pretty hard by Talon since Talon simply outdamages them but long-range champions bully Talon pretty hard since Talon cant get into range while being poked down pretty hard.

Once you hit level 6 and you are both at around the same HP, you can beat nearly every enemy just because your burst and damage overall is a lot higher than theirs and they die before they can get their combo off or by missing their combo when you outplay them with your invisibility.

Here are most champs that you DONT (or just situationally) beat at level 6:
Cho gath, Galio, Vladimir, Swain, Wukong, Riven and Mordekaiser.

Mid Game

In Mid Game you want to start roaming. This is a point where you either beat your lane opponent or your lane opponent beats you. If you killed him 1-2 times he will probably stand under his turret, saving all his gold fora zhonyas and flashign away from you as soon as you do somehthing. Dont waste your time midlane -> Push out wave and kill Bot, Top, Jungle or go warding.

Same applies for if you lose against your opponent. Try to push out the wave and try to come back with kills upon bot/toplane.

Some Items that scale very well into Midgame:

(Youmuu's) A must now where it gives you more AD and the Lethality scales well into mid/lategame. Also the movementspeed active is nice in midgame to catch people out of position.

(Maw) Nice item against a combination of AP mid and AP jungle or just against Burst Mages such as LeBlanc.

Late Game

Late Game is a bit trickier as Talon. Since you will probably be the most fed dude of your team, the enemies will focus you - especially since you have to jump INTO them. I'm always very happy when my team in SoloQueue picks a comp around Talon (gonna give examples about that later in this section). So what you have to do as Talon in late game is to ask yourself some questions: 1. Can we win teamfights 5v5? - If Yes: Teamfight In Teamfight, you need your allies to engage first (because you will not survive all the CC thrown at you when you jump in first. Walk around the enemy team and enter the teamfight from the side or from behind to walk past their frontline and assassinating their ADC. - If No: Ask yourself if your team is competent enough to not get caught. -- If Yes: Splitpush. Talon is very good at splitpushing because of his insane capability of escaping, thanks to his talone.png and his talonr.png. -- If No: You gotta stay with your team because otherwise they'll get caught. -- If Yes: Splitpush. Talon is very good at splitpushing because of his insane capability of escaping, thanks to his E and his R. -- If No: You gotta stay with your team because otherwise they'll get caught 4v5 and you will lose the game.

Teamfighting

You have to get used to teamfighting as Talon. This is something that I myself still often do wrong because I'm just being a greedy scrub sometimes. Let me explain to you the way you gotta play teamfights:

Talon's new E, which lets him jump over walls, is your best friend in teamfights now where Talon's gapcloser is a ****ty dash (RIP old Talon jump) which even has a very small range.

The way you gotta play teamfights is NOT to run at the enemy and try to get into Q range of the enemy ADC (which is mostly the person you wanna kill). This is very predictable and gives the enemys a lot of counterplay (You will be exhausted and CCed the second you jump in AND since your Q has such a ****y range (RIP old Talon jump), you will be halflife until youre finally in range.

Flank the enemies and wait until the fight breakes out. Your task is not the engage. Your task is to take out the enemy ADC and get out of the fight alive so you can help your team with your next combo. When you see the enemy support occupied and the enemy ADC occupied as well or not really having protection, this is your time to shine. It's not bad if there are 1-2 walls between you and your target since your E gives you the possibility to bypass those obstacles - quite the contrary. Position yourself behind walls out of the enemy vision (Duskblade is a very helpful item here since it gives you a free sweeper) and join the teamfight (after it broke out) out of nowhere. If the enemy support and ADC is occupied and the enemy CC is on cooldown, you are free to do whatever you want..
