Introduction

Hello this is my first guide and I decided to do it on my first champion I got to mastery 5 with. Though I am bronze 4 atm I know my way around Yi and with this huge update I've seen it as a opportunity to show that you don't need rageblade to keep the Yi carry going.

Runes

Right now I only have 2 rune pages, this is my basic attack damage page and its all you need with Yi, obviously if you want to specialize to make your build just around yi's crit or attack speed you can do that.

Masteries

Strength of the ages is a strong jungle keystone for anyone at this point. It gives you a free 300 health just from farming your jungle and it also heals you once you reach the max 300. Until you get lifesteal on this build it comes in handy to be able to go into your jungle to heal up and come back for another gank without too much use of your w.

Fervor of Battle is definitely an option ,but as we all know tanks rule this meta so a bit of health can never go wrong while if you go fervor for the extra damage it gives more risk to this build.

Items

The items speak for themselves, warrior because bloodrazor is complete trash right now. Statikk Shiv first because it gives you a damage boost with it's passive, attack speed, and your first bit of crit chance. Phantom dancer is a needed item to give you some extra sticking power until your ult is maxed and when you sell your boots. Infinity Edge gives a lot of extra damage with your crits and ad. I recommend you get Death'sDance after you get the first two damage items so that you have some sustain in your fights and can get the penta kill!

Skill Sequence

You max Q for the mobility and damage it helps with stick early. E is next because it increases your true damage and ad ratio. W is last because the damage reduction is the same at all levels and you don't need much healing because you can lifesteal by late game.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
+ High damage
+ High mobility
+ Easy carry role

Cons:
- Hard CC will destroy you

Creeping / Jungling

Always start on red side whether top or bot. Smite krugs for the instant stun, after killing krugs go to raptors and save smite. Then go to red buff and smite that for the health boost and then go to blue jungle. Do it the most efficient way meaning kill the first thing in your path going up and you should be able to clear it easily with red buff and also able to get scuttle quickly. Back for your first items after that.

If you are going against someone that is weak early I recommend warding their jungle in a choke spot. The choke spot in blue side is between frog and blue, the choke point in red side is in front of the red side near the bushes. If you see them doing red or blue you should be able to Q them near the end of the life of the red or blue and smite to take it or you can let your Q take it and possibly kill the enemy jungler.

Team Work

A big mistake Yi players make is thinking they are a one man army after getting many kills. You are an assassin that is why you can easily get a penta but assassins are squishy and are not meant to initiate. You should always wait for your team unless you are positive that it will be a one on one fight if you take an opportunity when you see it. Other than that always let your tank initiate fights or if you are strong enough you can initiate a fight by going around the enemy team and killing their adc then running out, which should almost always win a teamfight for you if the enemy team's adc is strong.
