Introduction

Hello there and welcome to my Jungle Alistar guide, today you will learn to terrorize the jungle and gank to the max whilst installing fear into your opponent. Smashing people into the air and headbutting them under your tower is mighty scary!

This guide has only been made possible since the change to Alistar's passive Trample, with this new passive he deals damage to surrounding enemies whenever he uses skills, allowing him to clear creeps quicker!

Runes

Greater Mark of Desolation - We get these marks simply because they will help your jungle out and combined with Unbreakable Will will allow your auto attacks to be fairly strong.

Greater Seal of Armor - These seals are almost a must for Junglers to allow them to take up more damage from the creeps, they make getting Blue to start a fairly easy task.

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist - Scaling Magic Resist is almost a must for tanks, this will help you very much.

Greater Quintessence of Health - Extra HP for your jungle and generally extra HP is nice for early and mid game.

A note for Greater Seal of Evasion - These are probably more than viable too, however I haven't had the chance to try them!

Masteries

0 - 21 - 9

Remember that you are a TANK, therefore nothing is needed in the offensive mastery, I have forgone Plentiful Bounty as the increased duration of Buffs is far more important, especially because Blue Buff is very important to you!

21 in Defense is self explanatory, if you take Dodge seals feel free to reshuffle the tree for your Evasion and Nimbleness perks.

The 9 in Utility is mainly for increased buff duration and increased experience as well as Haste.

Items

Cloth Armor and X5 Health Potion will be your starting items, if you understand jungling you should know why.

Mobility Boots - this will be your first main item and boy do you need it. Alistar is a wanted man in all lanes and to fulfill your team mates needs you need to be on the move QUICK, this will make you a roaming jungling king... of minotaurs!

Philosopher's Stone - This will be your next item, good health regen, nice mana regen, extra gold, not much more to add, a great item for Ali.

Aegis of the Legion - Next you will upgrade your Cloth Armor into an Aegis, this will give you a nice buff to your health and magic resist, it will also help your team mates so make sure you are in the team fights!

Eleisa's Miracle - This new item upgrades from the Phil Stone, it provides anti CC as well as more health and mana regen.

At this point in the game you will be looking to see what is hurting you on the other team, AP or AD.

AP hurting the cow?

Abyssal Mask - Another great item for Ali, MR and AP as well as a cool aura to boost your teams damage.

OR

Force of Nature - If AP is seriously handing it to you this will deal with it, 76MR is nothing to laugh about and the Health Regen and Movement speed make you more awesome.

AD make the cow go ow?

Frozen Heart - A serious Armor increase with an awesome anti carry affect, will also provide a healthy amount of mana so you can not worry so much about going oom.

Randuin's Omen - If they are not amazingly powerful AD champs get this. Despite the nerf it is still a powerful armor item and it's active allows you to protect your team further.

Late late game

So now you are happy with your Armor and MR, well it's time to build that Warmog's Armor, this massive increase to your health will make you unstoppable.

Skill Sequence

Pulverize - Some of you may think that the heal is the best way to go for jungle Ali, think again, Pulverize will allow you to kill the Blue golem quickly and your health pots will be enough to keep you alive.

2x Triumphant Roar - Your next two points go to your Heal, they will allow you to complete the jungle easily.

1x Headbutt - Once you have killed the Golems your 4th point goes into headbutt, this allows you to immediately attempt a gank from the jungle with your full combo ready.

The rest of the skill sequence is listed above.

Summoner Spells

Smite - Not much to say here, you need it to jungle, you can steal baron/dragon etc, bread and butter jungler spell.

Ghost - I take Ghost so I can get to ganks quicker, chase, and generally get to my team when they need me asap. Combined with your boots, you will have a very quick MS.

Other Possible Summoner Spells

Flash - A perfectly acceptable replacement for Ghost, flashing in and using your combo makes for even more scaryness!

A quick note on WARDS

If you have got a few successful ganks, assists or even kills, make sure to get some WARDS for your team. Ward Baron when necessary, ward Dragon, ward their Blue/Red Buff, ward what you think will help your team most. Midlane not buying wards? Buy him some, make sure your team LOVES you since when you run into the heart of their team it is them that are going to do the killing not you :)

Jungle Route and Ganking (Ali's COMBO)

1-2-3-4-5

- This is your Jungle route Blue, Wolves, Wraiths, Red, Golems. With your starting items it will be a breeze, make sure mid and solo top cover you!

6

- This is where you can gank from straight out of your jungle, use Triumphant Roar a few times and attempt to ghost behind your enemies, Pulverize them and Headbutt them back to your team for them to do more damage. If you are lucky you can Headbutt them under the tower, this is pretty much a guarenteed kill.

W

- This marks places where you can and if possible should ward. Dragon is a MUST, past 20 minutes Baron is a MUST. If you are having a good game and are stealing the opponents jungle, ward their Red and Blue to see if you can catch them in there. Also be nice to your solo top and buy him/her a ward, since they should be an AD/AP Carry, and the less they have to spend on wards, the more they can on stuff that kills!

Alistar's Combo

- If you haven't figured out what it is, here we go. PULVERIZE -> HEADBUTT TO YOUR TEAM. After this point just block and attack the target, use your Heal so you can Trample on them some if you want :).

- Alternate Combo - Sometimes you cannot get behind your target directly, be it because they are quick/have escape mechanisms etc. In this case you can use Headbutt immediately followed by Pulverize, this will at least get you a 1.5 second stun on the target.

Team Fighting

During teamfights you will be fulfilling the normal tanks role, protecting your carries. However during initiation if you have the opportunity to seperate one of their carries with a Pulverize Headbutt combo, go for it, it could win you the fight.

Remember to use your CC wisely, if the other team has a Katarina, use your Q/W when she starts spinning, same with the like of Nunu, Fiddle, Karthus, Malz, Miss Fortune etc
