Hello and welcome to my first champion guide. It is going to feature Kennen The Heart Of The Tempest
In this guide you will see how I play Kennen.

I have played Kennen for a while and this build suits pretty well for me. So I decided to share it with you guys. If you have any improvements I can try them out and/or add them to the guide! :).

There exists an ancient order originating in the Ionian Isles dedicated to the preservation of balance. Order, chaos, light, darkness -- all things must exist in perfect harmony for such is the way of the universe. This order is known as the Kinkou and it employs a triumvirate of shadow warriors to uphold its causes in the world. Kennen is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Coursing the Sun - tirelessly conveying the justice of the Kinkou.

Kennen was born in Bandle City and it was said that in his first living moments he bolted first from the womb and second from the midwife who delivered him. His parents had thought that he would outgrow his boundless energy, but as he matured his energy found no limits and was matched only by his unnerving speed. Despite his astonishing gifts, he remained unnoticed (or at least uncaught, as he was quite the prankster) until, on a dare, he ran straight up the great outer wall of the Placidium. When word of this feat reached Kinkou ears, Kennen was quickly and quietly brought in for an audience. He found that the role of the Heart of the Tempest suited him, frenetically delivering both the word and the punishments of the Kinkou across the realm. He now works with his fellows Akali and Shen to enforce the balance of Valoran. This hallowed pursuit has unsurprisingly led the triumvirate to the Fields of Justice.

The Heart of the Tempest beats eternal... and those beaten remember eternally.

For runes I take:
For higher damage output.
Greater Seal of Vitality For higher survivability.
For faster cooldowns.
For higher survivability.

Optional runes (A.K.A If you do not have the runes above or you do not want to buy them for some reason):

-Dodge seals
-Armor seals
-Flat or per level Magic resist glyphs
-Flat Ability power Quintessence.

For masteries I run basic 9/21/0 Kennen masteries. But if you take dodge seals remember to take Nimbleness and take one point out of your Harden skin mastery.

I prefer Kennen to be solo mid or top.

Start with Doran's Shield
Farm well! You need to have a lot creep kills to be succesfully. Harass your enemy laner with your Thundering Shuriken and with your Electrical Surge. You can also try to get a kill or gank a lane if possible.
When you have around 1600 gold port back and buy
Boots of Speed
Hextech Revolver
Now you should push turrets, gank lanes and get your team objectives: buffs and dragon. With your spellvamp you can do that all day long. You get around +50hp from Thundering Shuriken and another from your Electrical Surge spamming these on minions will get your HP back incredible fast. From now on follow the build from top of the guide.

Here comes the "tricky part". You have two items which prefers on the enemy team. You have four items to choose from and I will give you some examples what items are for each situation.






So how could I say this... Take these two if you want to max your damage output and you are sure you can stay enough far of the enemy team so they cant kill you:



But if they can kill you very easily, and their crowd control is very hard you might consider these two, but you will lose a lot of your damage output. This might not be good idea. But it can work sometimes.



But in my opinion the best option is to mix these two. It needs some knowledge of your enemy champions abilities and how much are the different champions fed. For example. Enemy Corki (Ranged AD carry) has 10 kills and their LeBlanc (AP carry) has only 2 kills. So you might go with:



But if is all around, their AP carry is more fed than their AD carry. I would go:


With this build you have two active abilities to survive incoming nuke. Which I like a lot. This is a good choice to replace Quicksilver Sash But you would lose the awesome active of it.

I take and as my summoner spells. Because I love to use Ghost to get closer to my enemies. And it stacks well with the E skill. Flash I like to use with my ultimate if I am not close enough for some reason.

I want to list some summoner spells that would work well with Kennen:

This summoner spell would be good for removing stuns/another crowd control which would lead to succesfull escape. I run sometimes Cleanse + Ghost or Cleanse + Flash Combo.

This would be good for early kills at lane. Harassing your opponent at lane until he is about 1/3 hp. Then doing your E -> W -> W-auto attack and then Q and ignite to finish him out.

Exhaust could work but I wouldn't use it with Kennen. Take it if you like it.

Patch v.1.0.0.123 had an AWESOME Kennen AP ratio buffs:
Thundering Shuriken
ability power ratio increased to .75 from .66

Lightning Rush
Energy cost adjusted to 100/95/90/85/80 from 100 at all levels
Ability power ratio increased to .6 from .55
